The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

I wouldn't have stopped either - it was a race. They were obviously being assisted - there was another Range Rover-ish car that had pulled up and people were assisting the camera man.

Rob and Amber are my favorite team, with the brothers a close second. My least favorite team is a toss up between Lynn and Alex and Meredith and Gretchen.

I think Rob and Amber's actions are bieing over-scrutinzed.

Just my .02!

I didn't realize Joyce and Uchenna did the same thing. If they did, I feel the same way about them. I still believe I remember seeing one of the brothers motioning to *someone* to continue on. Did anyone else see this?

I didn't realize this either. :( I really did think everyone at least slowed down, though. I remember the brothers waving everyone on, so maybe the editing doesn't show who was waved on and who wasn't. However, Phil only asked Rob and Amber about stopping, which leads me to believe they did indeed drive by without slowing down.

There is a clip of the brothers waving people on. However, with the beauty of editing, I can't say who is in the truck. Gotta love editing! I am sure CBS is loving the emotions they are stirring up with this season's AR.

I know someone mentioned Ray and Deana were on the Early Show this morning but I didn't see this mentioned....

THEY ARE GETTING MARRIED! :scared1: Deana said they got engaged at Christmas and are getting married in May. Good luck to those 2! :rolleyes1
Thanks for letting me know I'm not completely crazy. What I thought from watching it is once a few teams stopped or slowed down the brothers started waving them on. Rob and Amber happened to be toward the front because they passed people.

I know many people think Jonathan and Victoria were worse than Ray and Deana, but I think R/D are as big of a train wreck as J/V. They don't seem compatible at all to me.

It would have taken about 2 minutes, if that, for Rob and Amber to just stop and say, "Is everyone ok", but he is too self centered and full of himself to even care about anyone else, and she has no brains, Rob always needs to tell her what to do. So sad.

I am so glad I found this thread, I love this show.

Gretchen and Meredith- They sure do have staying power. I was laughing last night when she is sitting there with blood all over her and getting fixed up telling Meredith to find the clue. And I felt so bad for them when they had to give up their stuff. At least leave them with a couple pairs of drawers people.

Ucheena and Joyce- That getting lost thing was too much, they don't seem to have very good sense of direction. It would have been nice for them to be able to stay a little while there at the children's home. That is the worst part of the show is that they aren't given time to stay in those situations. Like another person posted, maybe a clock where they have to stay for a set time.

Brian and Greg- I felt so sorry for them. That had to be the worst thing in the world to have that happen. I couldn't watch the sprint to the finish, I was so afraid they wouldn't make it there first. I am glad with what happened that they were able to get there in time.

Lynn and Alex- Stopping and staying with the brothers was very nice. Those two may be a little catty at times but in that instant they were very caring.

Ron and Kelly- They are just kind of there. I like them and all but I don't have a very strong opinion about them.

Rob and Amber- I don't think they would have made it this far if they hadn't had as much help as they have. And as for them just driving by the accident, someone could have been seriously hurt and to have the "this is a race attitude" in that situation is really wrong. Stopping long enough to ask of everyone was okay wouldn't have hurt them. Every other team at least stopped to make sure everyone was okay.

As for Ray and Deana, what goes around comes around. Ray said something along the lines of putting Meredith and Gretchen out of their misery and look who came in last.

I used to not like Rob and Amber, but I don't mind them so much anymore. Rob is playing the game smart, with no help from Amber. ha. But I do think they should have stopped.

I am rooting for Merideth and Gretchen. I'm surprised they made it this far, and even continued after Gretchen got hurt. I felt bad for her. But they're a good team and are really patient with each other. I hope they go far.

I wish they would show Ron and Kelly more, they seem to just be there. Nothing interesting going on there. But I like them nevertheless.

I'm glad Ray and Deana are gone. He was really really getting on my nerves, and was really condescending to everyone, esp. Deana and Gretchen and Merideth. I'm so glad Merideth and Gretchen beat them. Especially hearing Ray say 'i don't want to lose to the old people' about a dozen times. Maybe this is a bit mean spirited, but I don't see them staying together and growing old as a couple like M/G. Why does Deana squint like that? it makes her face look deformed... just something i noticed.

This show is great!!!

Ray and Deana are getting married???? Please DR. PHIL step in here...how long do you think their marriage will last???? :sad2:

I'm sure he meant that as a joke...I know I didn't take him seriously.
I do agree that at least they should have slowed to ask if everyone was okay after the accident, but I can understand why they didn't.

He may have meant it as a joke but it sure didn't come across that way besides who but the most conniving would even think such a thing - Hurt your wife so the others will feel sorry for you....really it gave such insight into how Rob's mind works, Amber better watch her back ;)

What I saw was - Rob and Amber passed when the accident was still fairly new. The next few couples slowed down and asked if everything was okay. By the time the last few went past, help had arrived and the brother was standing there waving them past - so there was no need to ask, it was clear everything was okay.

I still think the smarmiest thing about not helping was the laughing about it later.

I loved last night's double episode!!! I'm soooo glad Ray and Deena are gone which just leaves the obnoxious boyfriends then all my least favorites are gone! I'm so glad the brothers made it and also Meredith and Gretchen. I felt so bad for Gretchen after the fall but she was a real trooper and didn't give up!
The only thing I was disappointed in was when Rob & Amber didn't stop and roll down their window (at least) and make sure everyone was okay. I didn't think Phil approved of their inaction.
I think the orphange task was one of the best ones and I really hope Ucheena and Joyce consider adopting after that. It's almost like that task was made for them!
Can't wait for next week!!!!

I remember speeding being a topic of discussion last season, but with an accident happening and someone actually getting hurt, I wonder if they will address this in future races?

Ok :rotfl: I was pretty lost for a min there!!!

Okay, I'm just wondering who else saw Deanna's right eye last night? My husband kept pointing it out to me that it was half closed and then I saw what he meant. Plus, at the end her lip was bleeding. Did Ray whack her or something when the camera's weren't looking? Pretty weird ... she acts like a puppy someone's kicked around. I can't believe she's marrying that stick-up-his _ _ _ Ray. What a bundle of affection he is!

I noticed Deanna's eye. I think the sun must have been shining in her face because I did see her open it completely one time. Gosh, I hope he didn't smack her!

I'm sorry, but after last season with Jonathan, even SUGGESTING that a husband shove a wife is just not funny.

In defense of Rob's "humour"---they were filming this or had already finished filming this before they ever saw the Jonathan beats his wife show.

Earlier today in this thread, a few people suggested it was allergies. I think it's either that or trouble with her contacts.

I was wondering what that was about, too. They didn't do the tunnel challenge so she couldn't have gotten hurt there. Maybe she got hurt when they were grinding the corn. :confused3

And, don't you just love how Ray tried to spin his M/G comments on the early show. " I was trying to be funny. I meant no disrespect. I love them." :sad2: Yeah right. These people have all seen the show before. Do they really think that it is just "editing". As it has been said again and again, they always give them the material.

Interesting comment--I wonder if someone on this board has ever laughed at someone's misfortune privately--only to find out later that someone was injured or something else bad happened as a result of that misfortune.

Ever get that moment where someone does a goofy fall and you start laughing b/c it looks kind of comical and they hurt themselves doing it and you feel like a heel for it!

I know I've been laughed at before until it was realized the situation wasn't a joke b/c I was hurt.

Sure they didn't stop--but not stopping they don't know the details entirely. I guess when Phil gave them their talking to--I'm sure they got enlightened real quick about it. I'm sure Rob will have something smart to say--but he isn't the devil incarnate wishing people to get injured to better his shot at winning.

Sure Gretchen's wound looked bad to us--but she pressed on and they said it would require one stitch. Had any other team including Rob & Amber actually witnessed it--no jokes would have been made about it.

Editing is wonderful--unless you are there to experience it--it is just all a biased representation of events by the producers to drive our emotions in one direction or the other. And it seems to be working as planned!

I remember the POW guy mentioning how he knew to drive the terrain from his humvee experience in Iraq.....I wonder if it was just a treacherous road (though it didn't seem to be too treacherous) and not necessarily speed.

With no vehicles to pass for them (weren't they 1st?)--hard to say if they were speeding...and I guess guys don't typically complain to slow down.

Her eye was already a problem at the end of the first leg. So whatever happened, happened between the Fastforward task and the check in.
