THE AMAZING RACE 15, ~Season Premier~ 09/27/09 pg 64!

Some observations from last night:

1) Victor is a drama queen when he gets frustrated. This was the first time either he or Tammy had any problems and you saw how he reacted. I'm glad Tammy spoke up and hope she will continue to do so.

2) Luke doesn't seem to being having too much fun on this race especially during a detour/roadblock. I think he's putting too much pressure on himself since he decided to carry the "I want to show the world deaf people can do anything" flag which I think is great. However...notice the last two challenges (pie throwing and gymnastics) and he seemed very impatient and not having too much fun. I think he needs to relax and have some fun!

3) I was hoping Brad and Victoria were going to stick around longer since neither one of them showed any hesitation on the roadblocks or detours. Too bad they had the layover in Amsterdam. I think they could have gone far in the race.

4) Good thing Kris found the fanny pack with all their stuff still in there. I thought for a minute we were going to have another epsiode like year having a team stuck in Europe. I wonder how Toni & Dallas are doing now?

5) The Romanian children during the gymnastics were cute. They seemed to really enjoy themselves with the teams.

I was sad to see the older couple go home last night - it was a risky move on their part - but that is what the show is all about. You take risks and hope you made the right choice.

I would not have let Victor lead me so far in the woods. I would have left him. He was so stubborn!! He needs to listen to his sister more - even though she annoyed me so bad when she couldnt do the gymnastics because she was upset about everything! Get over it and just do it already!!!

Not a wise choice at all for the couple that got eliminiated. Why would you chance a layover (in Amsterdam no less???) to gain 25 minutes? They will be mad at themselves for a long time.

The brother and sister are going to be the next to go - they will not be able to change the dynamics of their relationship. She has always been the follow along little sister and he has always been in control. Being on this race is not going to change that.

He would scare me if he was my lawyer - won't admit he is wrong and keeps on going wrong way!

Victor reminds me of Terence(Sarah) from Season 13 and Ron(Christine) from Season 12...both of them were very CONTROLLING....:sad2:

I really really think Victor KNEW he messed up BIG TIME and just would not admit it to his sister. Tammy even said to him that NOBODY is anywhere around here, can we go back. He knew he screwed up THEN. AND when they realized they were STILL in the race, the TEARS from Victor......give me a break! :headache: Why doesn't he just tell Tammy he screwed up? :headache:

Yes, I agree that Luke is feeling so much pressure to do everything right...he is getting way too stressed out. JMHO. I like Luke and Margie. AND I am so glad Kris found his fanny pack...didn't we ALL immediately think of Dallas from Season 13!

I must say-At least since the hillbillies were sent home last week, we were spared seeing either of them in the leotards:happytv:
:scared:

I liked the older couple, but they really deserved to go home last night. What were they thinking with that flight????

It only bought them 25 minute lead over the DIRECT 9:30 flight and it had a fairly tight connection. They knew pretty many teams were going to be on that 9:30 flight so I don't see why they even risked it, especially since they do a pretty good job at the challenges. It just didn't make any sense to me at this point in the race to do something like that :sad2:

What you said! I watched with DD and we were just shaking our heads :confused3 All this for maybe 25 minutes??????

I was wondering that also. If they were real far behind, why were they allowed to finish? Wasn't there a team last season that was so far behind that Phil met them and told them that they were done?

I remember one but it was the last challenge for the winner. Maybe that is the difference.
I LOVE that he signs for Luke on the mat! :lovestruc

:thumbsup2

You just know that he knew he was on the wrong path and could not stop...kind of OCD to the tenth! And the way he agreed to follow Tammy was "I'll follow you just to make you stop."

When he started crying :dance3::dance3:

I thought for sure they would catch up. It will be interesting to see the times they leave the pit stop next week. The editing made it seem like they were walking for hours....LOL. It'll be funny to find they are only 15 minutes behind. :lmao:

It would of been cool for the pit stop to be in Dracula's castle.

Even this week's start. I got the impression from last week that there was a wider span of time from the first to the last group, but it only turned out to be 4.5 hours.

I don't think that Brad and Victoria did the wrong thing by taking the other flight. 25 minutes can be a big advantage in this race and can make the difference between winning and losing. In addition, Amsterdam is a very busy airport with flights in and out all the time. They had no idea that they would have a weather problem (fog) and it bit them in the butt. As a PP said, they gambled and they lost.

Oridnarily, I would agree with you, but with international flights, a changeover time of 30 minutes or less is very risky. If the gamble works, they gain half an hour. If there were other flights leaving Amsterdam that night that they could have hopped on, had they missed their connection, it might have been a good gamble, but since there weren't I'm not sure the risk was worth it.

I agree with gometros. Normally it is a gamble worth taking. But they knew at least 3 other teams would be on the 9:30 flight with them. Their Amsterdam connection was tight and the last flight to Bucharest for the day. A ton of things can go wrong to miss a connection like that, not just weather. If it would have been morning and they potentially had more flights to go on later, it might have been a better risk or if they had no idea where the other teams were. They also have been doing really well in the challenges so that shouldn't have been a concern. For a payoff of "maybe" 25 minutes it was just too HUGE of a risk. They should have taken their chances against the other racers.

My other thought is why didn't they try to get another team to come with them? (not really sure though if that would have been possible with when the other other teams got to the airport though). If the plan worked, there would still be other teams on the later flight to bring up the rear. If it didn't work, then they wouldn't necessarily been in last place. I would have tried to trick another team into coming on that flight as an insurance policy.

Victor is a big baby. If he was my brother, I would have walked off the path at the first instinct that I thought it was wrong to see where the other teams were and then I would have run up the hill and told the big control freak to follow me back. That would have taken a lot less time. I hope Tammy learned a lesson here and it helps her to assert herself. Luckily, it worked out OK this time.

It's Matt but thanks for the compliment. LOL
Oopsie! Sorry MATT ... I don't know how I missed your name given your username of Matt@WDWR! All I can say is trhat I have the start of cold and I'm not 100%.

I believe I read a few seasons ago that the team members had a maximum distance that they were allowed to be apart during the race. If they really walked as far as the editing made it seem, she may not have been go back down. She would have been too far from him, since he was being a huge PITA and not listening.

They're going to Russia/Siberia next week. Hmmm ... other than iced vodka I'm currently at a loss.
Beef stroganoff is big in Russia, as are blinis with sour cream and caviar.

Pierogies are not like they are in this country. They are more of a calzone with potato & cheese filling, cabbage and cheese filling, farmers cheese filling, etc. A pierogie that is filled with fruit and that is boiled is usually filled with fruit and served with a sweet sauce for dessert.

Oh, and I bought a bottle of Stolichnaya vodka in Russia for $.47. Yes, that's right, 47 cents.

Oh, and BTW, I :lovestruc Team Scheebly! I love the dynamics between that father and son.

Holy cow! No wonder they like their vodka there. It's cheaper than WATER. I just looked at our vodka ... it's fancy Polish stuff (my DH makes KILLER Cosmos).

Thanks for the ideas. The beef stroganoff sounds like a plan :). I might research more into Siberia specifically though. I'll report back with my findings.
