The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

I hit 50 and I seemed to fall apart :confused3

I don;t know what is for dinner. I don;t feel too well today, I am fighting a sore throat and headache so I am just hanging around.

Hope you start feeling better, take it easy.

I know the feeling about falling apart after 50. I have gained 15 lbs since I quit smoking and I've finally gotten motivated and am doing something about it. My guys are giving me a gym membership for my birthday(52). I'm headed there in a bit to check it out and look over the contract. I've never set foot in a gym before so this is BIG for me. I've always done my exercising at home. I don't even have a clue what kind of clothes or shoes I will need, but my goal is to start this the second week of July.

Hey ya'll!

I haven't read back yet, but I hope everyone's ok! Lauren- Have a great trip!

Shannon's wedding was beautiful- at a park outside on the Ohio River. When I get pics downloaded I'll share.

I have a question, though. My Aunt Jan (estranged Dad's sister) sent me a "chain letter" from a friend of hers who just lost a husband. I want to keep it going (cause who doesn't need more reipes?!?) Anyone on here interested? I though it might be a neat way to extend what we have here to others we know who may not be "computer" or "DIS" people. I'm sending Glynis' pot roast recipe to her though.:rotfl2: If you're interested me PM me. All it costs is stamps (5 or 6 people). And you should get 25(5) or 36(6) recipes back if everyone keeps it going.

I'd love to get Jan on here but she just got internet and has a hard enough time with email. In fact I think I'll print off a couple more from here and send her a recipe "bonus pack".:rotfl2:

Tonight will be fast food on the way to Disneyland wooohooooo

Have a great time! My sister and I are going in September, the first time for either of us. W need to plan around my niece, she is in the CP but is not into the "Disney thing" and we do not know her schedule for September. We are staying at the Park Vue Inn, a hotel recommended by Glynis and do not mind eating most meals off site but I would like a few nice "Disney" meals. Would you mind noticing if any restaurants are taking last minute guests. I was thinking of Napa Rose, perhaps but really have no idea about any others. I would make a few ADR's but without any plans in place I am nervous about that too.

Sure, count me in. Let me know if you need my address.

Glad that you enjoyed the wedding and it sure is good to hear from you.

I know what you mean about getting a Newbie onto the internet. My DH just started using the computer and Jeff set up his own side so all he needs to do is click but I cannot get him to even check his email. Maybe just bookmark our page so all she needs to do is click on it. I am going to set up bookmarks for Buddy so he doesn't have to keep trying to remember how he got to any page from Google.

Kathy- kudos to you! Marisa and Erica go to the gym a lot and it is starting to show. I have joined more times than I care to count and I have spent more money than I care to admit. I also am not motivated enough to exercise at home so this is a problem. After I hit goal in WW I was thinking of joining where the girls go, my niece has accepted a position as Director of her site so this is an incentive for me. I just do not want to pay for WW and the gym at the same time.

Marisa, I forgot to tell you that Debbie got the position :cool1::cool1:

Napa Rose is supposed to be nice, I haven't eaten there, but heard good things. You should be able to get in with a day of reservation or even a walk in. There is also a resturant called Storytellers that is nice, they have a charactor breakfast if your into such things as well there. Steak House 55 is supposed to be wonderful as well.

If you have never been you definately need to do Blue Bayou, it is the resturant inside of Pirates of the Caribiean. At DL you can only make your Priority Seating (ADR's) 90 days in advance. Go for a lunch at BB it is cheaper and a slightly differenent menu. You can sometimes get a day of reservation here, but I wouldn't chance it. Another nice inside the park sitdown resturant is the Cafe Orlean's, you can almost always make day of reservations there.

My sister loves the Park Vue, since I take my dog with me, I can't stay there though.

Feel free to ask me any questions as you plan, I have been going there for 43 years now, so I can find my way around pretty well.

Another good suggestion is go and read this thread very good info for WDW vet's going to DL.

Thank you Gregg. I told Gail I was going to make a few ADR/PS, and I do want to get the times for the shows and parades and of course the fireworks. I guess that they are not out before the 90 marks either because they were not listed earlier this week. I want to drag her to a character meal, I think that she will enjoy it. She is not into this trip, she will be coming directly from Vegas after spending a week with her DH and his Mom. I love that woman but I guess she is a handful :rotfl:so then another week at Disney with a still sort of teenage DD  is just giving her a headache. OTH, I am super excited and plan on dragging both of them from end to end!

Honestly, I have not been on a vacation with Gail in years and both of us were counting on her boys joining us, That does not seem likely now and her DD just accepted a new position so traveling is not going to happen for her either. I would like to at least plan a few good meals together, BB is now on my list and I will check out Storyteller as well. Any more places you can think of will be appreciated. Both of us like good food and wine with dinner. We have not been known to turn up our noses at a nice cocktail either.

Then take look at the Resturants in Downtown Disney. DL is very different than WDW, the park gates are about a 100 yards from each other, and DTD is entered from one side of the esplande between the parks So it is very intimate. Also, the new City Walk should be mostly online by the time your here, there are a lot of new resturants there, mustly chains, but higher end ones like cheesecake factory and PF changs. It is about a mile away.

I am not sure when your going in Sept, but the event schedule changes very little for the entire summer, so you should be able to pretty much plan based on what it is currently telling you.

Must sees. Fantasmic, the seating sucks, but it is a better show than at WDW. Aladdin at DCA, broadway style show of aladdin, don't miss it. If you like fireworks, the DL show is even better than Wishes. To me the MS parade is pretty stale at this point, but if your nostalgic, you should be able to see the Electric Parade, they were planning on replacing it, but I don't think that is going to happen this year.

ETA: If you pm me your address, I'll send you a set of maps for the park as well.

Nancy- shoot me your addy in a PM and I'll mail out the letter. I know I have some addys from Christmas cards but they're in NOLA in the Christmas file.

Heck, I'll be lucky to find them in time for next Christmas!

And dinner tonight is the Prime Rib and Seafood buffett here at the hotel. Pray that it's better than the Mussels I had last night.

One other thing:

I'd been having pain in my wrist/hand for a few days. I went to the doctor yesterday and it turns out I had a bone pop out of place! Yowza!!!!!!!!!! It's fine now, a little sore, but boy was I hurting!

Ouch!

I don't even have a clue what kind of clothes or shoes I will need, but my goal is to start this the second week of July.

I wear sweat type capri's, old loose t-shirts and good supportive tennis shoes.

Well I will see you all sometime this weekend, maybe. Headed to my sister's in VA.

I don;t know what is for dinner. I don;t feel too well today, I am fighting a sore throat and headache so I am just hanging around. I have leftover burger if anyone wants them. DH is going fishing tomorrow so I have his cooler ready just in case he catches anything, but I am not holding out any hope :rolleyes1. He never catches anything when he fishes, he never gets a deer when he hunts. I swear he uses the time to catch up on his sleep.

I hope you get to feeling better.

Tonight will be fast food on the way to Disneyland wooohooooo

Now that sounds just wonderful! Hope you have a great time. And that you get some pictures for us. I really enjoyed the last one.

I go to a gym that is women only, so no one there dresses in those "cute" gym clothes that you see on TV. We are all in sweats/shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. Most of us look pretty grubby when we are done.

I'm definitely not trying to make any kind of fashion statement that's for sure..:rotfl: I'm probably just going to get some mesh shorts and tank tops at Academy, and a GOOD pair of shoes!

Aunt Wendie -

You blew me away by sending me a graduation card and present. My Mom is going to PM you but I wanted to post a thank you from me. I'll be home for the next two years and playing for Delgado so we'll keep you and Ross posted on my college career. Thank you,

Kyle Blancaneaux

Your very welcome Kyle. I am so pleased and proud that you will be playing for Delgado, I know that you wanted this very much.......it is all about Karma honey, and you have a lot of years of great karma coming your way!! You are a nephew to certainly be proud of!

__________
Hey all I just wanted to pop in and say a huge Hi to everyone!!:) I am so far behind, I have tried to pop on every day and at least skim to make sure things were going ok for everyone, but didn't even get to do that every day.
My dad leaves on Monday, tomorrow we are taking him back to the town I grew up in on the ocean, to see the old house and places...along with a few steamers and lobsters too!!
It has been wonderful to have this time with him, and he will be back in the fall for 6 weeks or so, but it will be nice to have my own schedule and life back for a bit. I will miss him but...............
I must say that I feel like I have healed a lot over my mother this past month, I miss her still every day, and I dread this fall for the burial, but the rawness seems to have gotten a bit better.

Now on to the most important things....YOU ALL....(I know I will miss something please forgive)

Lauren--have a wonderful, safe and fun trip. Looking forward to the report and pics!!

Kat--I know that you realize this, but Kyle is just the best, Ross is so excited to hear he got the school he wanted(as are Kris and I). Ross and his best friend went up to the school fields this morning to play ball and Ross said he wished we lived near Kyle so that he could help them out.
Good for you and the gym! I keep saying I will join this summer and I just can't get the nerve up to step in the door, once I did that I would be fine, but that is the hardest part for me.

Sheryl--Prayers for you and your daughter. I am so sorry for both of you and the pain you are dealing with. I hope answers and relief come soon.

Lindsay--Ouch!! I hope your wrist is better now and that it doesn't slip out again!

Nancy--I am sorry you aren't feeling 100% either. I did have to chuckle on the Buddy fishing/hunting (errrr sleeping) story.:rotfl:

Gretchen--How are the kiddos and roof doing? and most important..how are you doing?

When does Glynis get back from her trip? I can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Lori--Hope your buffett is yummy!! I would offer myself up for the mailing, but other then christmas cards and billing to our customers I am not very good about this sort of thing.

Aimee--You are a great person, and this mother and little boy were so lucky to have you there to draw from your strength, it sounds like they both needed it! You deserve a nice cocktail!

Darn it...I missed a bunch and I knew I would.....Starting next week I should do much better.....We have a crazy week ahead though, so I shouldn't promise anything:worried: ....We go to Boston on Monday, then I have the rest of the week to get Ross packed and things bought that are needed as he leaves on Sunday the 29th for math and science camp in Limestone Maine...(about 5 hrs north from us), he will be gone until July 5th. This Saturday he has a karate tournament in Saco Maine which is 2hr from us south, one end of the state to the other in a two day span can't wait to pay for the gas for all this....We have to take Kris' truck on Sunday for Ross stuff and that is a diesal, yikes!!

School ended yesterday, and I had to go this morning and do a few last minute paperwork things, other then that I should be FREE until the last week of August, other then a few days of training in the middle of July for new protective services laws.

I had to come back to add that I am now the mother of an official Jr. High Schooler.........unreal how fast my baby has grown up! He will go into the 6th grade next year and will walk to school (I can see it from my front yard). He will go into 7th grade for math and an excel program for Science and reading. I am feeling a bit sad and excited all at the same time.

Ok Ross and his friend are heading out somewhere and I need to get the jist of these grand plans...............Have a wonderful day all and I will be back in full force soon!!
Miss you all a bunch!!

It sounds like this time with your Dad has helped you both do some healing, it's the natural progression of things that make it all seem much easier. Hugs for you and Dad!

a sort of fly by today..but i just wanted to give a shout out to all of you culinary masterminds on this thread :)
But i did catch Lindsay's post about the "popped bone" OUCH!!!! hope you are feeling better!

Tonight i think will just be a salad from Cosi..i have some errands to run so no cooking tonight for me..last night was SUSHI and tommorow we are going out with a few friends for a "celebration type" dinner at a supposedly really good steak/sushi place :)
have a great weekend everyone!

Wendie It sounds like your Dad and You had a productive time together. I'm glad you had this time. Anytime you need us let us know

Kathy I have been paying for a healthclub for the last couple of years. They love me there Alex is the only one who really uses it.:rolleyes1

Lori If you need the Xmas list let me know. I would love to do the recipe thingy but I'm so far behind in my paperwork I am afraid I might drop the ball. Maybe in my next life I'll have be organized and rich so I don't have to have 15 jobs.:rotfl2:
