I didn't take my own advice and tried to rent a car from thrifty again in trinidad recently. Got to the counter and no one there. None of the phone numbers worked. People on the neighbouring desks told me they'd rented out all their cars and gone home. Our reservation was worth nothing and we had to pay a lot more to rent from another company as a walk up.
I've definitely learnt my lesson now though. Never again.
