The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Sheryl- Wow, the Dr just up and left? It is stressful enough to change Dr's without having to do so in a hurry. I hope that your FF can get some relief, back pain is terrible, there is no where to put yourself.

I am counting the days until next Saturday when I get my hair done. I have been spoiled because I could get it cut every 5 weeks and then colored and highlights every other time. Then the curls in my hair started to disappear and now I have to get my hair cut once a month and I seem to be pushing it with the color. I hit 50 and I seemed to fall apart :confused3

I don;t know what is for dinner. I don;t feel too well today, I am fighting a sore throat and headache so I am just hanging around. I have leftover burger if anyone wants them. DH is going fishing tomorrow so I have his cooler ready just in case he catches anything, but I am not holding out any hope :rolleyes1. He never catches anything when he fishes, he never gets a deer when he hunts. I swear he uses the time to catch up on his sleep.

Nancy, My cheapo haircuts at the school are starting to cost me a lot of time. I was there for 10 & didn't get out til 3! To get my roots touched up & highlights. I get usually get sublte highlights but she rinsed it & I had platinum blonde streaks!! She finally got it right with the instructor's help but it took forever! They did only charge me for the single color, thank goodness. But my poor hubby, I took my frustrations out with an almost $200 shopping spree at Whole Foods! :confused3

I hear you on the hair & hitting 50. I'll turn the big 5 0 at the end of this year. My hair used to be curly too & I've tried several times styling it that way, specifically so I could stretch out the hair colors. But it AIN'T Workin!!! :confused3 Straight is some spots & kinky curly in others.
I'm so sorry you're feeling sick! And I hope Buddy doesn't bring home a big ole Rainbow Trout for you!! ;)

Tonight will be fast food on the way to Disneyland wooohooooo

Wooohooo is right!! :cool1:

Hope you start feeling better, take it easy.

I know the feeling about falling apart after 50. I have gained 15 lbs since I quit smoking and I've finally gotten motivated and am doing something about it. My guys are giving me a gym membership for my birthday(52). I'm headed there in a bit to check it out and look over the contract. I've never set foot in a gym before so this is BIG for me. I've always done my exercising at home. I don't even have a clue what kind of clothes or shoes I will need, but my goal is to start this the second week of July.

Kathy, A real gym would intimidate me too! Good Luck, I'm proud of you!!!:thumbsup2

Hey all I just wanted to pop in and say a huge Hi to everyone!!:) I am so far behind, I have tried to pop on every day and at least skim to make sure things were going ok for everyone, but didn't even get to do that every day.
My dad leaves on Monday,
Sheryl--Prayers for you and your daughter. I am so sorry for both of you and the pain you are dealing with. I hope answers and relief come soon.
I had to come back to add that I am now the mother of an official Jr. High Schooler.........unreal how fast my baby has grown up! He will go into the 6th grade next year and will walk to school (I can see it from my front yard). He will go into 7th grade for math and an excel program for Science and reading. I am feeling a bit sad and excited all at the same time.

Ok Ross and his friend are heading out somewhere and I need to get the jist of these grand plans...............Have a wonderful day all and I will be back in full force soon!!
Miss you all a bunch!!

Thanks for the prayers! It does sound like having your Dad there did you a world of good!!! Glad that you were able to spend this time with him!

Kids, They grow up way too fast don't they? But as bright & sweet as your boy is, it will be a pleasure seeing him become a fine young man! ( Just like Kyle!)

Lori, Glad to hear from you girlfriend! When ya' coming home?!!!

Bless your heart for being there with her. You are a very special woman Aimee.

Nah, it was just the right thing to do. :goodvibes

My dr appt was okay. He's not doing anything yet, until I have another MRI. He did see some nerve damage from my physical. Something I never even noticed. When he told me to hold my hands in front of me, with my fingers together, my little finger won't stay in! On my left hand it pops out right away, on my right it jumps. He said that was worrisome, but it's just a wait & until I have the test done.

I wanted to ask y'all for some prayers for my DD. She has been having very bad lower back pain for about a week now. She's seeing a chiropractor & it's not helping a bit. I guess it's in her genes, poor thing she's only 26, my back pain didn't start until I was 30. They have a vacation planned to FL beach planned for Monday, too.

Prayers for both of you! Keep us posted on her back pains.

Aimee I hope that poor little guy was better at home. Some kids don't do well with anesthesia. The mom should let her doctor know so that can mark his chart.

He's had tubes put in twice before but I know they gave him something more/different this time, since it was removing his adnoids which is much more invasive. The more families coming in and out while we were waiting just panicked her even more. Then they gave him morphine, which knocked him out, so they wouldn't let her leave with him. Crazy!

One other thing:

I'd been having pain in my wrist/hand for a few days. I went to the doctor yesterday and it turns out I had a bone pop out of place! Yowza!!!!!!!!!! It's fine now, a little sore, but boy was I hurting!

Oh, Lindsay - OUCH!!!

I hope you feel better soon, and :rotfl2: at the DH!

I'm jealous!!

Must sees. Fantasmic, the seating sucks, but it is a better show than at WDW. Aladdin at DCA, broadway style show of aladdin, don't miss it. If you like fireworks, the DL show is even better than Wishes. To me the MS parade is pretty stale at this point, but if your nostalgic, you should be able to see the Electric Parade, they were planning on replacing it, but I don't think that is going to happen this year.

I so agree on the Fantasmic. WDW version was a huge disappointment after seeing it in DL. And I LOVE how close the parks are that you can walk to each of them so easily...

I'm making some kind of sweet almond chicken I pulled from an old cookbook I have, with zucchini/squash and maybe some mac and cheese - straight from the blue box.

Has anyone heard from Glynis lately, she was supposed to be back on the 10th and we haven't heard from her on the Design thread. Hope all is well with her.

Dinner tonight was delicious Nutrisystem chicken & dumplings for me & for DH I grilled 2 lamb chops. He loves lamb & I don't like it all all so not a temptation at all.
I grilled yellow & red peppers for both of us & some carrots.

Tomorrow we are off to Cape Cod & a lobster roll & martini will be headed my way!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

One day your dieting will be less of a sacrifice. Enjoy your lobster roll and of course the martini.

Greg Have a great time in DL We need info on Napa Rose. That restaurant looks so beautiful.

Ok I must make this paperwork disappear.:faint:

Aimee -- I am glad the surgery went well. I am very impressed by your DH's cooking!

Sheryl -- I hope both you and your daughter get relief soon.

Hi guys! I'm here.

I've been wondering where you have been. I'm glad you are okay...ouch on the wrist!

I don't feel like cooking while I do last minute things for our trip...

Have a great trip, Lauren!

So we HAVE to get some other kind of take-out for the game tonight!;)

It's really a shame you have to get takeout again. I hate it when that happens. ;)

Oh, I get to go see your Sox play the Astros next week!

Maybe we would get to see the Sox play if we went somewhere else. It is nearly impossible (unless you are willing to spend a fortune) to get tickets here. Have fun!

DH is going fishing tomorrow so I have his cooler ready just in case he catches anything, but I am not holding out any hope :rolleyes1. He never catches anything when he fishes, he never gets a deer when he hunts. I swear he uses the time to catch up on his sleep.
 I hope you feel better.

Tonight will be fast food on the way to Disneyland wooohooooo

Have fun!

Pray that it's better than the Mussels I had last night.
 I haven't had mussels in years due to a bad experience. I hope tonight's meal was better.

I had to come back to add that I am now the mother of an official Jr. High Schooler.........unreal how fast my baby has grown up!

Unbelievable! It's good to hear from you again.

Maybe in my next life I'll be organized and rich so I don't have to have 15 jobs.:rotfl2:
 That would seem fair.

Tomorrow we are off to Cape Cod & a lobster roll & martini will be headed my way!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Have a great time! I hope the traffic isn't too terrible. You might need several martinis if it is.

We had dinner at my ILs this afternoon. Normally, this would send me running for snacks right about now, but I did most of the cooking. My MIL just bought a fryer, so she wanted fish and chips and onion rings to test it out. I brought the spicy cole slaw and I made a berry tart for dessert. Everything was good.

Hi everyone

Wendie- I'm glad that you had a good visit with your Dad. I wonder if the visit helped both of you to start healing, you never had the chance up until now and he did not have you to share it with.

Lindsay- OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mrs Heg- I was wondering if Glynis was back yet. I keep thinking she will pop in.

Sheryl- I hate going to the hairdresser and 5 hours with platinum streaks would have freaked me out! I always had curly hair and would laugh when my sister had her perms and color and seemed to live at the hairdresser. I also had to change stylists a few times becasue I would end up with Gail's haircut, fine for straight hair but not fine for a curly cowlicked gal. Now I seem to be a carbon copy of her my hairdresser has been trying to adjust the cut so that I can manage it. I will not spend more than 10 minutes on my hair so she has had her work cut out for her.

Well I still feel lousy. I am achey from my shoulders up and just yucky. My dinner was popcorn and I have no idea what anyone else ate.

Buddy cannot go fishing tomorrow, somehow there was a scheduling error at work and now a grading crew is working so he needs to be there in case a machine breaks down. I felt badly becasue he has not gone out on the ocean for 3 years. (He caught nothing then either)

WFD- Family BBQ today for the kids. Menu is burgers, BBQ chicken, ribs, BBQ shrimp, macaroni salad, potato salad, and boston creme pie.

Have a nice day everyone!
Ann

Good Morning!

I still have not had a chance to catch up but I wish everyone well.

Gregg, I hope you have a wonderful time in DL!

Janice, Have a great trip with Alex!

I hope everyone that is not feeling well are better today!

Thank you all for your well wishes for our trip...I cannot wait! This time tomorrow we will be in flight...I hope I can get my guys out of the house by 4:30 am!!! I will take lots of pics to share.

I am so excited that I cannot sleep lately and this morning I woke with a splitting headache but that is OK...tomorrow I will be in WDW!!!

I just shipped Tom off on a man-date, which is good so I can finish packing in peace and in a little while I have to take Riley Bean to be boarded...:( I may try and sneak an hour or two at the pool today as well.

I am off to start my day. Have a great day! I will try to check in during the week.

I am excited for you! I don't know why but vacations are almost better now than when we were kids, aren't they? Just in case I miss you later, have a wonderful vacation and have a Happy anniversary!

The bok choy in the picture is baby cok choy, which cooks faster than regular bok choy. It is super easy: rinse bok choy well and slice into pieces. Discard the root bottom. Then, I just dump it in a pan with a little bit of butter and a splash of soy sauce, cover the pan and blast it on high heat for a couple of minutes--it won't take more than 4-5 minutes to cook. The greens will be tender and the whites will still have some crunch to them. I plan one whole baby bok choy per person minimum--people eat a lot of this stuff. I think one time my sister (liamandcaili) ate an entire one pound box of it--and she is a super skinny minny! Enjoy! :)

Thank you! I will be trying this out.

Hi you all. I am so groggy after a loooooooooooooong night. Yesterday my husband had been complaining of an odd stomachache all day. When he left work, he went to the walk-in clinic, worried because it may be his appendix.

After an exam, blood test, and urine sample the couldn't rule it out, so they sent him to the ER. He called me and I headed up there. This was about 5:45.

We got home and in bed at 1:30 a.m. Oy.

It wasn't his appendix, not sure what was wrong. But by the time we left he was feeling normal. So I'm keeping an eye on him.

I have no idea WFD tonight.

Lauren I am so excited for you. Have a great time. Happy anniversary!

Nancy I feel sorry for Buddy. Fishing or just pretend fishing is relaxing. Go ahead and make that poor guy a big ole sammie(tuna of course)

Tonight I think we will have Flank steak hopefully on the grill. They are calling for more rain today.

I hope my Cubbies win again today. This weekend is the big cross town games (White Sox and my beloved Cubs)

Have a great day everyone!

Have a magical pixiedust: trip and Happy :love2: Anniversary.
Give me all the details on OKW when you return, we are strongly considering changing to OKW for our September trip now. We have never used our points for there, and I think it looks like a nice relaxing place for the cheap points.

I am so envious...enjoy!
Ann

Thanks for the Anniversary wishes guys! You're the best!

Ann, This will be our 2nd time at OKW...we love it! We own at SSR and love that too but the rooms at OKW are huge compared to the others. I love the Key West feel of the resort as well...Will take lots of pics for ya!

Does anyone want me to send a post card to their kids from Mickey, a princess, etc? If so, email me your addy and any details I could write in the card. :goodvibes

We are heading to Beck's today for a sleepover. She is planning a giant garlic fest, so we won't have to worry about vampires.
