The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Thank you ALL for your good thoughts and prayers for DH's job situation. He takes the physical test with the fire dept on June 7. I know that's what he really wants to do so I pray he passes and goes to the next step in the interview process. Becoming a firefighter is not easy, evidently!

In the meantime, he has some leads he's following up on. This is rare for him - he is a put all your eggs in one basket kinda person but he's actually not assuming the fire dept will come through and seeking out all other options. :thumbsup2

Tonight I'm making tacos with beans and rice.

You & DH are in my thoughts & prayers. I hope he passes his test with flying colors!
My DH has been downsized 2 times and it was so rough when he was looking for a new position.

As for dinner spinach ravioli with a light tomato sauce......I sliced a really ripe mango & kiwis for a little movie snack later on tonight.

Hello my dear wonderful friends....boy have I missed a lot....things have been so crazy here, trying to get ready for my dad coming tomorrow!
I also went to see Kris' grandmother the other day as she is not doing very well at all....it is sad to see a very classy lady lost in herself with dementia. She could last years like this or days....no one knows.....if she knew how she was she would be furious, like her Dr said....if she was aware she would let go, but human nature makes you fight without realizing it.

I missed a ton over the days and just did a brief skim so if I miss anyone or thing I didn't mean anything by it.

Kat--I am glad to see you are feeling better. I wish we were neighbors, Ross would love to take care of Sammie for you. (me too)

Nancy--Glad that things went ok with your test the other day, but I am so very sorry for the passing of your furbaby. Even though it was the right thing to do, it doesn't make it any easier. Crazy how animals just steal our hearts. I send you big hugs my friend!
I also want to send HUGE hugs and congrats to Kady....she is just working so hard and doing great!! I am sure she had a fun date with her pa!

Ann--Goodness vent away, if it wasn't for here, between my martyr in law issues, and the passing of my dear mom I would be crazy by now. These women on here keep me sane! Once again "thanks to Lindsay!!"

Lauren--I too woke up with the sinus allergy crud going on, I should have know it was coming this year I seem to really be getting hit with it (another wonderful thing about getting older I guess) When I was at the bank the other day I had to close my moonroof as it looked like it was snowing in my car from the dandlion fluff.
I hope that A feels better soon!!

Aimee--prayers and fingers crossed for you and Dh on the whole job search.

Becky--That sandwich looked soooo good! How do you prepare it. I am sure it is basic, but I want to do it just like it looked, mmmm. Looking forward to the rest of your pictures, as always. Great one of the Hawk too!

Glynis--Your trip is right around the corner, I am so looking forward to hearing all about it when you return. My brother and dsil took the girls a few years ago and were in awe of the history that they felt around them.

I see that Stephanie popped in for a bit, hope you have a great time at the wedding.

Gretchen--I am glad to hear that dss is giving you a bit of a break from the issues. Hope things continue to get better on that front.
How is our sweet Hailey doing.....has she found the new hiding spots for the candy yet?;)

Sheryl--Love hearing that Alexis is having such a great time...she is our iron chef and tour guide now!!

Oh I hope I covered my bases. I am all over the place with thoughts and such.

I am anxious and excited and a bit nervous for my dad to come in tomorrow. I haven't seen him since my mom passed, so I know when I first see him at the airport it will be emotional for myself. I think this will be a fun month and very good for both of us. My grandmother (dads mom) is looking forward to seeing her "Willard" (the only one who calls him that everyone else is either Will or Stu, lol). Ross has plenty of plans already for him and Grampy too.

I will try to get on tomorrow evening to let you know how it was to see him. I am prepared for him to look different, does that make sense?

We are leaving for Boston at 9am. Have a nice Sunday everyone!!

Morning all!

I am making us breakfast for dinner. We are having scrambled eggs with turkey sausage and Glynis blueberry muffins. I will probably make some coffee to go with it.

Hey Glynis, would you mind posting the recipe for the Warm Lemon Cake again? I think it was you who posted it. Thanks!

Hi All,

Just a quick check in before we start our day.

Yesterday we worked in the yard all day and spread mulch, it looks so nice.
Dinner was take out chinese which was very disappointing. But it was nice not to cook.

Today, we are doing some more yard work, and errands. Hopefully we will get some flowers at some point, and I want to take DS to the playground. We have a birthday party at 5 to attend for DN (sister of the pitcher). I guess I need to get a gift somewhere today to.

Ann

Good Morning! Well, dinner plans changed last night again and we had pizza. We were so into getting the yard done that I just didn't have it in me to cook. Yeah like most of the stuff was done just had to fry up the peppers and onions and throw the sausage on the grill....but oh well, I guess I'll be doing OT on the tread mill this week too. :)

WENDIE, Have a wonderful time with your Dad! I am really excited for you.

Will be heading to my sisters in VA for the weekend so I probably won't be here at all this weekend. Hope you all have a nice weekend and holiday.

Hope you're having a great time!

Liam has a game this afternoon

I hope Liam and his team did well! We won 6 - 0!

Everything went well I guess. I have nothing to compare so I guess it was fine. I did have a bad rest of the day though.

Buddy is taking Kady out for dinner tonight to recognize her reading award. She has been working very hard to get this so she is thrilled. I was not invited, but she may take her little girl friend. Every young lady needs a special night with her Pa.

Nancy, I am so sorry about Buster,,,

Congratulations to Kady!

He pitched the opening game yesterday and represented Louisiana very well, only gave up three hits and we won 6-1.
I was thinking of you and praying for you yesterday.

Yeah for Kyle!!!

********************
We are going to a bbq today at Tom's co-workers house. I am bringing taco dip and chips. Easy peasy lemon squezy!

Kat, your BBQ looks great! I am not sure what I am doing tomorrow...probably the sausage that will need to be cooked by them and maybe burgers. A has a game at 6:30 tomorrow night...what a sucky time!

Have a wonderful day all!

Wendie, I am so excited for you AND your dear Dad. I understand exactly what you mean about him looking different, he will.

I'll be thinking of you both today and look forward to hearing about your reunion.

We planned our Memorial Day BBQ for today because Johnny has to work tomorrow, however it looks like it's going to have to be tomorrow unless I want to celebrate alone. Kyle's team lost their second game yesterday which has them playing at 4:30 today which won't put them home until around 10:00 tonight.

They're on junk food overload so I think I'm going to whip up a quick shrimp etouffee for dinner and they can have a bowl of that when they get in.

Lauren - Congrats to A and his team!!!!:cheer2:

I saw a couple of people asked about the mushrrom sandwich. It is really easy. All I did was saute some portobellos with an onion in a little evoo until everything was browned and tender. Then I piled them on a baguette that I spread with a little dijon mustard, and topped that with some greated gruyere cheese. I then wrapped the baguette in foil and baked it at 400 until the cheese melted, about 10 minutes.

Here is dinner from Friday. It is tuna and mahi mahi, with a golden curry sauce, some jasmine rice, arugula, and naan:

That's it for now! I think i have some more food photos but this gives you a pretty good idea of what we were up to. I'll post a link to some of my beach pictures once I have an edited set to share. Right now there are 800 photos up, and I am SURE you don't want to look at that many!! :)

Oh, for dinner tonight, Laura and the kids are coming. The grownups are having seafood mixed grill, Liam is having a pizza, and I think Caili is having leftover fried chicken.
