The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Sorry a little slow getting over here today. I stopped off at the restaurant board and had to adjust our ADR's to add a Boma breakfast to the mix.:rolleyes1

Tonight is left over pasta I don't feel like cooking. I am not driving to get anything either our gas is over 4.00 pirate: I hope the oil companies sleep well at night.

Kathy I'd hate it if you couldn't get your ressie. We have an annual pass so we are flexilble with the dates and the parks. I wish you luck getting the times and the date. It did sound like I had limited times to chose from though the CM wasn't very forthcoming with the info.

I am going to go watch some of the show I have on tivo I'll talk to you all tomorrow.

I'll be making the ADR as soon as the November park hours are published.:goodvibes

I am feeling much better, thanks. I agree with your pricing on the pitching lessons and it's falling right in line with what we're hearing.:thumbsup2

How cool is that, that he could make so much in an hour? When I was in high school, I was working at a movie theater, making around $6 an hour. I wish him lots of luck...and clients! :thumbsup2

I am glad you are starting to feel better. I have heard that the bug going around is pretty nasty.

Now that all the kiddies have left and mine are in bed, I think I will go watch a movie myself.

I finally went and made a few based off 06 and 07 schedules which were exactly the same, but they weren't anything so hard to get that I couldn't switch them around if needed.

We're going to miss each other, right? I'm going Nov 1-7.

That maple sage turkey recipe was SO yummy. The turkey wasn't as dry as it usually is. We didn't even use gravy with it!

I made stuffing and fresh green beans with it. Lots of work for a Fri night meal but we have lots of leftover turkey for sandwiches now.

Glad you liked it.

I had chicken and oven fries for dinner. Will be heading to my sisters in VA for the weekend so I probably won't be here at all this weekend. Hope you all have a nice weekend and holiday.

Today we are going out to Cracker Barrel for dinner. We have a busy day ahead of us!

Have a great day!

Aimee, good luck to your DH on the job search. Fingers crossed and prayers sent oyour way.

Kathy, thanks for the open offer to *itch if needed. You are such a kind lady.

First day of our long weekend! We slept in and DS actually slept all night.
I think tonight we are going out to eat somewhere tonight. We started the day with a big meal to prepare us for yard work. I made Portugese sweet bread french toast, "Yum" to quote DS.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
Ann

Good Morning All!

Thank you for your thoughts for Andrew. he did not have strep...but he has a viral infection and some allergy symptoms.

I woke up this morning with the allergy funk...Tis the season, right?

Kat, That is wonderful that Kyle will be teaching kids pitching...and it seems well worth it...$$$! I wish you lived closer, Andrew could use a hand. I know the place by me owned by a pro player charges $$$...we just can't afford it now. Maybe if he wanted to play fall ball but he wants to play soccer then.

When is Kyle's game?

Ann, Vent away anytime. That is what we are here for.

Aimee, Sending good thoughts to you and DH. Any word on the firefighter position?

**********
We did yard work yesterday so dinner changed to sandwiches and we will have sausage peppers and onions tonight. I have nice rolls and maybe serve it with a pasta salad.

Andrew has a game at 11:30 and then more yard work. I am hoping to get almost everything done out there today. That freaking 150 foot retaining wall is going to bug me all summer but I think we are going to leave it this year since we have so much else going on...

We started watching the Indiana Jones movies in preparation of seeing the new one hopefully on Monday.

Have a great day all!

Good morning!

Aimee I wish your husband luck in finging a new and better job fast. Maybe he can look into temping. That's how I landed my current job, I was layed off and started temping about 15 mnutes from my home now 9 years later I'm still there.

I'm not sure WFD I think maybe portillos we may go see the new Indiana Jones movie tonight. I just realized yesterday I have never seen a IJ movie in the theather.:confused3

Sorry to hear you boy is under the weather. Allergies at hit DH hard this season.

"Ann, Vent away anytime. " You maybe sorry you said that, :rotfl: . I think I have settled right in here pretty smoothly. Thanks again!

:cheer2: Good luck to Andrew:cheer2: , hope they have a good game.

** DN team update. They are in first place. Playoffs start this friday!:cheer2:

Ann

Lauren I hope Andrew starts to feel better soon. Allergies in my opinion are sometimes worse than actually being sick with some bug.

My sinus are going to be the death of me this year.

I finally ordered a new bathing suit yesterday it has shorts I think that will be more confortable in the water parks. NO tugging ;)

Thanks for the GL for Andrew. Good luck to your neice too!

Thanks Janice! Andrew plays it up a bit too. I need to get a bathing suit. I saw some nice ones at JC Penney and I have a credit there which makes things better.

That's why I think making the turkey is worth it...I love all the leftovers. I'm glad the recipe was good. I printed it out and will make it some time.

Will be heading to my sisters in VA for the weekend so I probably won't be here at all this weekend.

Have a great time!

Yay! That is a great way to start the weekend. Congratulations and good luck to your niece!

I just realized yesterday I have never seen a IJ movie in the theather.:confused3

I think Becky and I make up for your lack of theater attendance. My father loved Raiders of the Lost Ark, and used us as an excuse to see it...I'm guessing we saw it in the theater about 10 times. Have fun seeing the new one!

Lauren -- It sounds like we have similar plans for the day. Liam has a game this afternoon and we are having sausage, pepper and onion subs for dinner. I am not doing yard work though. My parents are coming here for the game and are having dinner with us after it. Good luck to Andrew!

Good Morning!

I am going to try to catch up, you all were chatty :cool1:

Ann- vent away! I know that I always come her for a good ear and I am never let down. Congrats to your DN!

Janice- I bought a bathing suit with shorts last year. I was more comfortable in that one than any others, but I have to warn you.....mine ballooned out like a parachute :dance3:, and DH, having learned the hard way on previous occasions, managed to look everywhere else. Kept him from being served beef stew for a week :thumbsup2

Lauren- tis the season for allergies , and what a season it is this year

Aimee- best of luck to your DH! Like Janice, Marisa was hired onto her job as a temp. She has never looked back and has recommended this path for a lot of friends. Whatever he chooses, the door will open at the right time in the right place.

Natalie- Welcome!

Rogue- Kady has the opposite reading problem. She is having a difficult time and is just beginning chapter books. She knows that other kids are stronger readers and wants to be able to read the same books that they do. Boy, it is hard being in 1st grade ;)

Becky- is that beautiful bird a falcon? WE have a few eagles in our area and they are stunning in flight, but I would love to see one perched on my sill just one time in my life.

Your pictures are looking so yummy. I cannot wait to see the ones that you are working on.

Laura- Ode to Joy????? My Daniel played that one too when he was 8 years old. I cried and cried (it is a pattern with me, I'm afraid).he finished it way before the others ad I thought that he has forgotten teh notes......no.......he was all done. He continues to live his life going double time.:confused3

I really am glad that there was that little surprise in the concert for you. Recorders alone are, oh dear, there are no words for recorders

Kathy- I'm glad that you are finally feeling a little better. Let us know how Kyle does this weekend.

Glynis- Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dinner last night was eggs on an English muffin for me and chicken for Marisa and Buddy. Buddy turned his into sandwiches and Marisa added quinoa to hers. I could not even think of real food.

Everything went well I guess. I have nothing to compare so I guess it was fine. I did have a bad rest of the day though. My little Buster has been sick and losing weight quickly. We found out that he had FIV and has been taking clavamox to keep that respiratory infection at bay. He has been losing weight rapidly and his energy level has not been good, but as long as he was eating a little and coming out to visit I wanted to keep trying. Yesterday I took him for a weight check and he had lost another 2 pounds. The vet thinks that he might have cancer but I was not willing any more tests. We decided that enough was enough so I had to let him go. He was the sweetest little guy and I am missing him so much already. I know that this was the right thing to do, but I wish that there had been more that I could do.

Buddy is taking Kady out for dinner tonight to recognize her reading award. She has been working very hard to get this so she is thrilled. I was not invited, but she may take her little girl friend. Every young lady needs a special night with her Pa.

I'm so anal, I have to wait for TGMike to give his advice on least crowded parks before I make my park schedule.:sad2:

Yep, we're going to miss you, we are going 11/8-11/13.

When is Kyle's game?

He pitched the opening game yesterday and represented Louisiana very well, only gave up three hits and we won 6-1.

Johnny is driving there today, so he'll be there for today's games and tomorrow's game. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be able to make any of the trips, I have no one to watch my Sammie baby.:sad1:

 for you my dear friend. You did the right thing, but I know that doesn't make you feel any better.

I was thinking of you and praying for you yesterday.

WFD - It's just me and Sammie and my stomach is just getting back to normal so something very light and simple. Gotta start prepping stuff for Memorial Day grilling tomorrow.

What's everyone having? We're doing:

Gaucho Rib-eyes
Herb grilled chicken
Cajun Oven Fries
Cheesy corn on the cob
Beck's spicy slaw
Janice's incredible melted ice cream cake

Thank you ALL for your good thoughts and prayers for DH's job situation. He takes the physical test with the fire dept on June 7. I know that's what he really wants to do so I pray he passes and goes to the next step in the interview process. Becoming a firefighter is not easy, evidently!

In the meantime, he has some leads he's following up on. This is rare for him - he is a put all your eggs in one basket kinda person but he's actually not assuming the fire dept will come through and seeking out all other options. :thumbsup2

Tonight I'm making tacos with beans and rice.
