Hello!

I am so exctied to being staying at AKL for the first time this May. We were supposed to stay there last year but becasue of finances we had to downgrade to ASMu (which we loved).

This year because of the 4/3 deal I was finally able to swing AKL. We did have to book standard because that was all that was available. I am happy with that because it means we will be AKL.

How are the massages there? I just noticed that they have a spa. I had been thinking about putting dd and our cousin in the Neverland club for a night and spending a few hours in MK by myself but.... if the spa is good at AKL I may change my plans and have them spend the evening at Simbs clubhouse and get a massage.

I have never had a massage at AKL but I think I think I would be more comfortable with staying on property and getting a massage...you just can't go wrong with a massage.

Looks like we are at AKV a few days after you. Have a magical trip.

Congratulations! Have a great time! AKL does not really have a spa as such, but massages are offered at the fitness club. I have read reports about them and everyone really liked their experience, just don't expect a full spa experience!

DF and I are staying at AKL for our honeymoon this July - I am SO excited! We upgraded from CSR and still ended up paying less <3.

Subbing in! I am taking my DD3.5 in May for a little Mother / Daughter trip (my mother's day present - yes, I have the greatest DH ever!!!) I've stayed at AKL once before, when I was pregnant with DD actually, and it is my absolute fav resort! We're staying in a studio. Not sure what to expect with this. Can't wait, and can't wait to read more about AKV!!!

I stayed at AKL in August 08 (loved it!) we were not able to get a standard view room at the WL for our full stay so we are splitting between there and AKL! Last year, I remember a few rooms getting the flat panel, but our room didn't have one. I was wondering if this is complete or if there is an estimate on completion?

Hi! I'm a HUGE AKL/AKV addict. . .it's my very favorite! DH & I are taking our DS (he'll be 14 months at the time) for his first trip and for our 10th anniversary in October 2009. I'm SO excited!! It is our "home" resort, and right now we have a studio, but we're hoping to go to a 1-bedroom next week when we can call. We are in the Kidani part.

Does anyone know if we'll be able to refill our mugs at the pool bar at Kidani? I can't imagine walking the 1/2 mile to Mara just to refill, but I do love the WDW coffee, so I might have to!!

It seems that upgrades do happen. I am not sure wether some of these updates from standard to savannah view aren't real updates but you would just get one of the rooms with a bad savannah view that are actually in the system as standard. Also during the Kidani construction it seems like the rooms overlooking the construction were classified standard view.

I think it is always possible to nicely ask at check-in, but don't count on it. You might want to consider a pool view room which really is only a bit more than standard.

On the massage note- I have never had a massage at AKL but just FYI they do not have a spa. It is a treatment room in there fitness center so you will not have full access to spa, this is why it is a bit cheaper. That being said I have had one at GF and it was wonderful and the same company runs all the spas- Nikki Bryan. Check this out..

I understand what you mean. My last trip we stayed at the Poly and while it was great, during the whole time there there was this tiny voice in the back of my head saying: why didn't you stay at AKL??? Have a fantastic trip!

Thanks We also love the Beach Club area but that is out of our price range for this vacation. I think no matter what... AKL will always feel the most like home and my husband LOVES it there. Now we get to share it with our newest little DISNEY FAN... OUR DAUGHTER!!!!

Just a quick question. Are there any restaurants nearby that are not on Disney grounds? We are going to have a rental car, and I was thinking about going out to try and keep some costs down. Any pizza places or even chain restaurants. Heck, even a McDonalds. Can you order a pizza and have it delievered to the hotel?

There is a large McDonalds at Oceola Parkway (spelling?). I have never been down that road but I would assume that there would be other restaurants also.

I've had several treatments at AKL's fitness center and it is small but very nice. The treatment rooms are nicer than the ones at the GF Spa. That's my opinion and the opinion of my friend who works at the GF Spa and comes over to AKL to give me massages there
They have a small sauna and a small steam room and a nice bathroom/locker area. No lounge. But the prices are lower since the amenities are not the same as at the spa. The convenience of not having to leave AKL for a massage or body treatment is GREAT Enjoy!
