We love the ankole cattle too! Thankfully, their horns are not as heavy as they look. They're like honeycombs on the inside. I know it has something to do with regulating their body temperature in hot weather, but I don't remember the specifics. (sometimes you learn so much information on those safaris, that you forget much of it.)

You're right, lots of information!
I did forget that part about their horns. The horns are honeycombed with blood vessels, and the blood moving through the horns is cooled by moving air, and then flows back into the body and lowers the animal's body temperature. Had to stop and think about it for a minute, thanks for reminding me!
