Hoping this is the right place to post this but can anyone give me an estimate on how long it would take to get from AKL to Ft. Wilderness?

How long if we took a cab? Or,
If we did bus to MK and then boat over?

Thanks

Hello,

we're planning a stay at AKL for 2011 and now that there is a surcharge to stay on Arusha Savannah, are looking for info on the other savannahs. Do you have a favorite? Are there better animals on one over the other? Does the sunset savannah have zebras? Any info you could give on the uzima and sunset savannahs (pics too) would be much appreciated, thanks a bunch!

My iPhone trip wizard says from AKL to Ft. Wilderness takes -
19 minutes by car
36 minutes by bus (AKL to Blizzard Beach to Ft. Wilderness)
41 minutes by bus/boat (AKL to MK via bus and MK to Ft. W via boat)

What is the iphone trip wizard? Is it for Disneyworld exclusively? Sounds like something I need :)

Saintstickets, you're awesome!

Thank you so much for the times! AND PLEASE, do tell about the app. I would love to know too.

Thanks again, it is a big help!

Just got back from a week stay at Kidani village in the two bedroom villa. LOVED IT! The rooms were so big and I loved how clean and nicely decorated they were. So themed and the details were magical! We never even used the third bathroom. So much space. It was 4 adults and 2 3 year olds that stayed there. Loved the balcony views. We saw mostly giraffees, zebras, and the longhorn cattle out our windows.

The walk to our room was LONG..................... we were one of the last rooms but we managed. We spent most of our times in the parks anyway and had strollers to wheel the kids in down the hallways. Bus service was decent and only bad right after shows at night. Liked that they stop at Kidani village first. Loved the pool area. It was like our own mini waterpark. My DS is timid around water so he really loved the zero entry pool. He could get in just barely and splash around without being scared. He even got brave and played in the splash area some so it was fun enough to entice him over there! Loved the slides! Super fun!

Can anyone there recently or currently confirm the in-room menu offering for the "Indaba"? I see two different descriptions of it when searching around the net.

This is the one I have seen older photos of and would love to order to surprise DW in a few weeks:

Indaba- Animal Kingdom Lodge chocolate logo with cookies, brownies and chocolate animals (serves 2 to 4) $40.00

However, on Allears the most recent menu (June 2010) shows it as:

Indaba - selection of five African flavor-inspired truffles in a chocolate coco shell (serves 2 to 4) $30.00

Most menus I've found with the first description are from 2009. Allears is the only one I see that is more current and it is completely different.

Can anyone confirm from a more recent/current menu please?

It is the WDW OLP Transportation Wizard by Laughing Place Communications, LLC. You put in your starting point and destination (Park, Resort, DTD, TTC) and it will give you all alternative routes whether via bus, car, monorail or boat. Cost is $1.99 and I have nothing to do with the company, it's affiliates or partners! :rotfl2:

Thanks! Look's like I have a new app to download tonight :thumbsup2

Does anyone know where in Kidani Village the Grand Villas are located? My extended family is headed there February 6-11 for our first DVC stay! :yay: I am trying to get an idea from looking at the map where our villa could potentially be!

Posted on the restaurants board, too, but no luck so far:

Animal Kingdom Lodge In-Room Dining Reviews?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am specifically interested in breakfast items for the AKL/AKV in-room dining, but if you have a review of lunch or dinner (or whatever) go ahead - we might try one of those, too. We'll be staying on DVC points in an AKV studio in a few weeks, and the in-room dining menu seems to have some nice sounding options and I've seen other people mention getting room service for breakfast to eat on their balcony and watch the sunrise and the animals. Sounds great. But nobody has really talked about the actual food! So... how is it? How big are the portions? How far in advance do you need to call to get something?

I'll be looking for information on this also. We're planning on using some of our DxDP credits on In-Room breakfasts. Several months ago I read either here or on dining reviews of a gal who, due to illness, had to spend a lot of time in her room. I remember that she rated the quality as good but desired a greater variety of choices for some meals. Also, remember that the tax & gratuity will already be added to the bill. She didn't notice this until after giving several extra tips - then she realized why her server was always so happy when he delivered her meals!

great photos brandi, looks like you had plenty to eat, it looked yummy!

we aren't staying CL but still looking forward to our first stay at AKL for my DD bday trip!!!

So far I am LOVING the report! You can NEVER have too many pics! CL looks really nice as does the room you stayed in.

One question: Were the presents because yuo were CL or because you were there for your aniversary or a little of both?

They were Anniversary present, mostly, when we stayed before we got the chocolate, this time the Giraffe and the cologne were Anniversary presents or so the letter stated.

How nice! That just goes to show how Disney is excellent in customer service! They do the "extra" for their customers.

Love the giraffe! Impressive food selection at CL! We stayed at CR CL & was not very impressed at all. We stayed there for 7 nights & there was not much food & no variety. We didn't even bother by the last couple days b/c we were tired of the same few choices that didn't even taste good. AKL CL selection looks yummy!
