The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

I can't stand this - 3 days and no new news on our AKL thread! I need my "fix". Also still wonder if anyone reading this has had experience with In Room dining and may be able to answer the questions asked higher up on this page?

I am sure this question has been answered before and in fact I may have even asked it before but I have been hearing mixed opinions on this.

Can any one give me a diffinative answer?

We are staying at AKL Jambo house checking in on the 28th.... :cool1: anyways my question is this.

Can the folks staying at Jambo house use the pool at Kidani? I know pool hopping is not allowed but I recall hearing that these two pools were considered part of the same resort. I have 2 younger kids and they would love the interactive play area at Kidani.

Please let me know.

Thanks

You are allowed to use both pools. My kids love Kidani water area. Have a great trip!:thumbsup2

I think I have finally decided on a savannah view room after changing 3 times! I am sure this question has already been asked lots of times, but I am asking one more time! Which of the savannahs do you prefer to be on while at AKL? Another question. Do the giraffes stay at one particular area so if I particularly wanted to see the giraffes I would need to request that area? Thanks everyone! :)

When is your trip to AKL? Arusha Savannah seems to be the most popular. In fact, because of this it will be priced at a higher rate beginning January 1, 2011. Giraffes are on all 3 savannahs. Zebras are only on Arusha.

We will be there March 19-26!!

I just wanted to post a few pics of our recent Jambo AKV 1 bedroom stay - I was very tempted to put in a room request for Zebra Trail, Arusha Savannah, but I thought i'd just go into it with an open mind and we got room 5266. It was a gorgeous room, great view on the Kudu trail facing AKV Kidani:

Yes, we stayed on the Kudu side and took the golf cart shuttle over to the Kidani pool - the kids and I actually liked that pool better, but the water play area was being serviced and not open the day we were there.

We saw giraffe and Zebra on our trail, It was on the Kudu side, pics above.

Oh, and I am sure nothing can be done to avoid it but I got stung by a crazy bee or some sort of huge fly while at the AKV Kidani pool and ended up at Centre Care getting some steroids to help with the swelling in my arm.

I haven't answered you because I have never used In Room Dining at AKL. This is a good bunch of people so I bet that if anyone knew anything they would have said something by now. It is also possible that we have WDW travelers who haven't read your post yet and now that you have asked again you might possibly get the answers you are looking for. Good luck!

Somewhat unusual question:

DW and I are expecting our first baby and she will be around 9 1/2 weeks during our trip. Right now the morning (all-day) sickness is pretty bad. Any mothers with past experience know if there are enough food options in the AKL at either the restaurants or grocery items that she can survive on if the sickness is still bad or will we need to make runs to Publix? (We'll take stuff with us, I'm sure, but if we run out... can we get enough at AKL to keep her going or will we need to drive off property, basically...)

Thanks.

That will depend entirely on what she can tolerate.
I was sick weeks 6-14 when I was pregnant with DS. Unfortunately I had to go to a conference right around the 9 week mark. It was unpleasant. :rotfl2: The only things I did well with were REALLY sour things - fresh grapefruit, green apples, limeade, sour berry LifeSavers (which I don't think they even make anymore). Other things were completely hit and miss. Sometimes I would have a craving, take one bite of whatever it was, and gag. If you can arrange to have a car or do a grocery stop it might be smart.

Mara has lots of options to pick from. It depends on what she will be able to eat, but I am sure she can find something there.

when I was preggers with DD, was sick all day until around 4 1/2 months....I survived on bread, pudding, fruit and very bland items, I also had a very hard time with different smells.....I'd pack mini bagels w/peanut butter and kept them with me at all times.

Good luck with the baby, have a wonderful trip and make sure your DW gets lots of breaks.

First off...
:jumping1: Congratulations on the pregancy!!

My doc told me to have crackers handy at bedside. Eat a few before getting out of bed. Don't even sit up, eat while laying down. I also hear great things from, I think they are called, Pregger Pops?? I also got this bracelete type thing with little balls in it. She will wear it on her wrists and the balls hit a pressure point that decreases the nausia. I found it at a Walgreens where they sell sea sickness meds. It worked really well.

I'm really excited!!! I was able to pick up a 1br value at Jambo house on December 22 to add to my other days from the 23rd to the 28th!!! We 1 br at kidani but would have had to move so it wasn't ideal. This will be our first stay at our gorgeous, phenomenal DVC home and I am sooooooo excited. I love it there at Christmas time. The tree is incredible!!!:wizard:

I agree with this completely. I read the request and thought, well, that's entirely dependent upon what works with the nausea.

My doctor told me that the term morning sickness actually gets used to describe two different issues. If you're generally sick in the morning then it's likely that your body is reacting to drops in blood sugar level and thus things like crackers beside the bed, a glass of milk before bed and in the middle of the night can really help. But, if you're sick throughout the day then you're likely getting sick from the slowing down of your digestive system -- this is me. In this case, none of the "special tricks" will work and it's really an every woman for herself thing to figure out what will work at the time.

Personally, there isn't even much of a guarantee that something that I eat happily one day will work at all the next day.

Some people tell me that ALL they wanted to eat during pregnancy was fruit, but, I'm 19 weeks in and can still barely keep fresh fruits down. (Grapes and non-ripe pears work better than others, but, that's just me.) I can now manage juice and canned fruit though so I sometimes just settle for that instead of forcing down food I know my system won't like.

Around 9.5 weeks I started having (big) problems with several of my favourite foods and started liking foods I'd always hated. Throughout, I have been able to manage things if they had large quantities of vinegar in them, though.

In other words, bring LOTS of different things, search out what works AND plan to need to venture further afield. (If you don't want to drive out of the world, you could bring contact info for wegoshop and have them do it for you.)

Down to 2 weeks! I feel like I have SO much to do, but I know I really don't.
I guess it's just nerves that I will forget something!

:woohoo: your so close, just be like santa, check that list twice! if its something really needed you'll be able to get in there!!

We are going in January. Staying in a Kidani 1 bedroom villa.

We have a standard view...Anyone know where most of the 1 bedroom standards are located on the map of Kidani, out of curiosity?
