The All New Pop Century FAR OUT FAQ Thread!

This thread has been absolutely wonderful. I really appreciate all the work you've put into this, Tyler. Just 23 more days! We'll stop and say hello.

My question is about fridge rentals. We'd really like to rent one for our stay. We check in Thursday, Jan 29th. Do you think we'll be able to get one? I know nothing's guaranteed, but I just wanted to get an insider's opinion on whether or not there's enough for everyone who wants one.

Thanks!

I have not heard of any fridge shortages. However, in the case that fridges become more popular than we anticipated, Disney will get more.

I will be at POP for Super Bowl weekend. (Jan 29 - Feb 2) Does the resort have any special plans for the big game?!?

PS - this great thread convinced DH and I to stay at POP this visit!

Does the food court at the Pop Century really open at 5:00am?
The menu and link on this thread reads "Lunch and Dinner -5:00am-midnight".
It's a good bet that it should read breakfast/lunch/dinner, but can anyone tell me if they do open that early?
Thanks!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

January 29 to Feb 1 is superbowl weekend......:( ....oh,oh. Does that mean it will be ridiculously busy or something?

I'm sure that it should read Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner but Allears only shows Lunch/Dinner it was updated January 2004, but no breakfast item are as of yet listed...maybe Pop is still working on a breakfast menu. A new Menu has been added though see below

Pop Century Food Court opens at 6:00 am. At least that's when they opened in December. Breakfast is wonderful. They have a big breakfast that includes eggs, sausage, biscuit, bacon and potatoes. They also have Mickey waffles and other breakfast fare.

All food is scrumptious!!!:p

Enjoy
Renee

I can confirm that they opened the food court at 6:00am during December. And they have Pop Century waffles with the Pop Century logo on them!

We just got back from Pop Century on Jan 5. We arrived there Jan. 1. (we were at a dtd hotel the 30th and 31st as we could not get in on those days) We stayed in the preferred Bldg, 60's as my daughter is a 60's freak (she is 16) and I am lazy. (actually I just had my right hip replaced 3 months ago, and was concerned that I would be wiped out after the parks and wanted a close to the main bldg room-did my left hip 9 months ago, so I am a "double hippy" and therefore the 60's bldg fit perfectly -LOL NOTE: both were fine and we walked about a 100 miles a day as the parks were so crowded-till about Jan 2 and we had to keep doubling back) Ok, I digressed. We requested the 4th floor looking out over the pool and we got it. No problem. THe room was great. There are a lot of little improvements over the allstars. We have stayed at Music three times. I greatly appreciated the little soap dish in the sink, and the little counter over the sink to put cosmetics on. It is the little things that count! (with a mom and 16 year old daughter, you need all the counter space by the sink that you can get!)

We are not early risers and always skipped breakfast, but we ate very late dinners at the food court, and they were great. If we did get to the food court about 11 a.m., and breakfast was not being served, and we wanted breakfast, they still had cereal and muffins. The food court did seem crowded on Jan 1-but after that, it was fine.

I was very impressed. I loved the lobby at check in. My daughter and I had fun looking at the wall with all the stuff from each era. It was memory lane. We didn't get any animal towels but maid service was great. They left extra towels without even being asked. Everything was clean.

One glich was that I was told at check in that I did not need to check out, that it would be express (as in the past at the allstars), but when we left, there was no bill on the door. I did not have time to go to the front desk to get a copy as we had to catch a plane (it was about 9:00 a.m.), so I am hoping that everything is ok. I have a copy of the charges from check in, and we made no calls nor did we charge anything to our room.

THe real problem I saw was with parking. There were never enough spaces in the 60's bldg. We got back late, sometimes 2 a.m., but even at 11:00 p.m. one night, there was nothing. I actually left the car at the curb 2 nights as there were no spaces in the 60's or 50's lot. I only imagine that this will be a problem during the peak times.

All in all, I loved it, as did my daughter. When we go back, we will stay there again. I cannot see paying top dollar for a delux when PC is so great. We spend most of our time in the parks except for a day of rest we grant ourselves, and sit by the pool. Which by the way, was not crowded and was great.

I forgot to check you out Tyler as we were so excited to be there, but we will see you next time, (we have been going every August, when it is cool, lol, for the past 5 years.)

I apologize if this has already been asked, but can anyone tell me about this pool? From construction pictures it looks like it is shaped in a flower.

Is there anything in the middle like the characters in the middle of the guitar pool at ASM? My daughter's love the squirting water.

Thanks!

Hi everybody who reads this
A question for you:
Is there an ATM at Pop Century?

Thanks for answering and a whole lot of greetings from rainy Amsterdam:wave2:

The Hippy Dippy Pool is indeed shaped like a flower with petals. On a few of the petals, there are flowers that squirt water into the pool. The other two pools (one shaped like a bowling pin, and the other like a computer monitor) do not have squirty things. However, we also have a Pop Jet area, which is just pure squirts! :)

As for an ATM, there is one located at Classic Hall, near the phones and mailboxes. :)

Lucky you Anz!!! I wish it were me!!!

I still have several days to go....but I am getting reallllllyyyyy exited!!! I think I am more excited than the kids!!! LOL

Cya There!!!

:wave2:

Dang! You are both lucky! I have to wait until December 18. I don't want to think about how many days that is. :( :)

Anz...looks like you'll be checking in while we're checking out! Be sure to wave! :wave2:

I am so excited! :hyper:

Are the breakfast prices at POP the same as the prices at the All Stars?

I checked Deb's site for the menus, but she only has the lunch and dinner menus.

A question for Tyler, or those in the know!!

My daughter will be turning 23 while we are staying at the POP in March. Will anything be available for this? (cakes in room, etc. )

Thanks!! Can hardly wait!!

Hey Huggaboo! Looks like we are checking in at the same time!! Maybe we wll see each other when we are checking in or at least at EVERYTHING POP!
