Here we come again. This time with my DH & DS. I can't wait to show them POP. DS B-Day is 4/15 so I hope we can do something special while there. I also hope to meet Tyler this time. Counting the days!!::yes:: ::yes:: ( I wonder if I would be a first return visitor ) PS: I loved the fluffy pillows.

Just made reservations for an additional room for our stay in March, now have three rooms...family members keep saying, "I want to go too." Wasn't able to get Florida Resident special for March 26th so the discount codes maybe getting slim. If you are thinking about going call and make your reservations now. I was also on the phone over an hour because of the computer system being so slow.:earsboy:

Our DS has decided to join our trip. Which area is closest without paying for preferred?

Does anyone know if there is somewhere at Pop Century or elsehwere in Disney where you can check email, like an Internet cafe or something? I know Pop Century has data ports for laptops but I won't be taking my laptop with me. Also, is there a mailbox or post office in the Disney area? I know I'll be sending a few post cards while at Disney. Only 9 more months until Disney:teeth:

Hey all,

We're not down to 4 weeks from today (Saturday) arriving at POP and hardly believing it. It's 11 degrees today -- I hope it's the same the day we leave (and 75 in WDW).

Anyway -- we have 2, adjoining, standard rooms at Pop Century for 5 nights. Does anyone know the configuration of how the rooms are arranged? I didn't ask but I thought I've seen somewhere that some rooms are Kings and the rest are 2 DBLs. It's my wife and I and 4 kids -- having a room to ourself would be nice, just not sure if they have many kings and if any (all?) are connecting with DBL rooms.

Also -- we're driving from Pittsburgh over two days and will probably arrive pretty late that Saturday -- I haven't requested any specific rooms or buildings (usually I do but never had any luck in the last 8 or 9 visits) -- what would be the "best" non-preferred room/building to ask for on my reservation?

Thanks,

Andy

Hey, Andy, I've got you beat! Up here in Northern Maine it is currently - 12 !!!! It hasn't been above zero in three days!!! Looks like we're going to get a reprive in the next day or so!!

I've got a request put in to my DU TA about adjoining rooms and should be hearing from her soon--I'll post the answer as soon as I hear from her!

:)

As a family we were guaranteed connecting rooms. We requested that one have a king, but that can not be guaranteed....I'll let you know how it goes!

I think there's an Internet Cafe in Disney Quest (not sure, haven't been there in several years) - which wouldn't be worth paying separate admission, but if it's included on your pass would be a good option. Guest Services can mail postcards for you - just bring stamps from home.

I know I read somewhere that the PC rooms all have small safes that would fit a portable, if you have one to bring. I am wondering if there is anywhere I can get high speed access (or really my DH- he will need to check his inbox while we are there and I don't want it to take all day!)

Just wondering, were are the washing machines and dryers located?? How many are there?

Thanks!

I know you've asked twice about the laundry so I'll try to answer. I know that there is one in the 50's section. I believe the other one is at the 60's section. I know that at Movies they have them at Mighty Ducks and Fantasia. Fantasia is the main pool area, so I believe it is the same at Pop. I've not been to Pop yet, but I THINK there were about ten washing machines at the Mighty Ducks area. Sorry, I can't give you definite answers. I know that it is mentioned in Tyler's right up.

In most of the Disney hotels, there is a "computer" to check mail by the banks of phones. Usually near the publick bathrooms. I foget the price..and it sometimes has a line..but it works quickly.

Can someone (and it may already be here somewhere) give me driving directions to get to POP? We have company coming to visit..and well, my hubby just follows the signs and his nose. We are there so often, we know the streets, but not the names. This person lives in Orlando so I need directions from the outside. Thanks much!

Thanks, Nicole! Actually, this is the first time I asked about the laundry facilities... I've read the write up at the beginning of the thread a hundred times and must have just completely skipped over it...

From FAQ:

Q: Will there be laundry facilities?
Yes. At each pool area, there will be a laundry room with washers and dryers.

Thanks for helping out!

DMRick, here are some driving directions from the airports...maybe your company will be familiar with some the State Route numbers and follow them in. Also, great driving directions from Orlando, Sanford & Tampa airports to the resorts at:

http://allearsnet.com/pl/directions.php

Directions from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Disney's Pop Century Resort:

Take the south exit from the airport marked SR417. Follow the signs for the South Exit from the airport to pick up SR417 South (also called the Central Florida GreeneWay) towards Disney World. You will go through two tolls ($1.00 each). You will see a sign for Walt Disney World at exit 6 but you will go past it and stay on SR417 until you come to exit 3 (Osceola Parkway). There is a 25 cent toll at the exit.

Take a right at the end of the offramp and follow that straight. Take a right at the first set of traffic lights. This is Victory Way. The entrance to Pop Century Resort will be on your right.

If you need a grocery stop before arriving at Pop Century Resort:

Follow the above directions for leaving the airport and picking up SR417. Get off at exit 11 (South Orange Blossom Trail). NOTE: There is a 50-cent tollbooth at this exit that only accepts exact change so be prepared. Turn left at the bottom of the exit ramp. There is an Albertson's (open until 1:00 am) about 1/10 of a mile up and a Winn Dixie (open until midnight) about 4/10 of a mile up. If you turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp, there is a SuperTarget (open until 9:00pm Sundays and 11:00 pm every other day) a short ways down.

When finished shopping, get back on SR417 South and continue using the directions above.

Directions from Tampa International Airport (TPA) to Disney's Pop Century Resort:

Exit the airport following the signs to Highway 60/Downtown/I-275. Exit onto I-275 North. Follow that for about five miles. Take the I-4 East exit. Follow that for approximately 61 miles to exit #62 ( toward SR-417 N/DISNEY WORLD/CELEBRATION). Keep left at the first fork in the ramp following the signs to World Drive. You will now merge onto World Drive north. Take the exit for Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort Area (Osceola Parkway). Continue west on Osceola Parkway. Take a right at the first set of traffic lights. This is Victory Way. The entrance to Pop Century Resort will be on your right.

If you need a grocery stop before arriving at Disney's Pop Century Resort:

Option 1:
Get off of I-4 at Exit 58, County Road 532 (Kissimmee). Turn left at the bottom of the ramp and head towards Champions Gate. Publix, McDonalds and the shopping center is on your right. This option is 7 miles before the WDW exits off I-4. When finished shopping, get back on I-4 East and continue towards WDW as directed above.

Option 2:
Take the World Drive exit (#62) off of I-4. Follow the signs to US 192 *West*. Go straight on 192 staying in the left lanes to avoid heading into Disney World on World Drive. Follow this about 2.5 miles to the Publix on the right located in the Town Center at Orange Lake shopping mall at the intersection of US 192 and Orange Lake Boulevard.

When finished, take US 192 *East* for about 3 miles back and follow the Disney World signs that will take you onto World Drive. Take the exit for Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort Area (Osceola Parkway). Continue following the directions from the airport above.

Directions from Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) to Disney's Pop Century Resort:

Exit the Sanford Airport to Lake Mary Blvd. Drive 2.8 miles and turn left onto SR417 South (also called the Central Florida GreeneWay) towards Disney World. You will go through five tolls (4 are $1.00 each and one is $.50).

Total you will pay in tolls: $4.75 - $5.25 with grocery stop.

It cost me about $3 to use the internet phone at AKL. It was quick and easy to use and they have them all over WDW.

Thanks to those who answered my questions about mailboxes and Internet access to check email. Now about the laundry facilities at Pop Century... how much do the machines cost for each use? I'm assuming at least a dollar, right? And I also assume there will be a machine thing where you can buy detergent and dryer sheets?

In July 2003, I stayed at the All-Star Sports with my family and the washer and dryer were each $2.00 making a total of $4.00 per load. I would assume they would cost the same at PC because it's also a value resort (might be that way at the moderate and deluxe resorts too, but I haven't stayed in any that I did laundry). I would bring my own supplies though because that was expensive when I was there. It is easy to bring your own. I use liquid and just put it into a bottle that is leak proof and put it inside of a ziplock baggie. I also bring my own dryer sheets (also inside a ziplock baggie) and then use them when I do laundry. Also, I do laundry during the afternoon when most people are at the parks. That way I don't have to wait on a washer or dryer. I let my son play at the pool and I play with him while my laundry is washing and drying. It's a nice break from the parks, very relaxing. Hope this helped.

Another easy way to bring your own detergent is to buy the laundry tablets. They are individually wrapped so they won't spill or make a mess. Have Fun!!!
