Hello everyone! I hope everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving had a wonderful day!
I was just curious, if you have an MK view, what can you notice from the park? I know just by looking at your pictures that you can see the castle, Space Mtn, Astro Orbiter, Thunder Mountain, and Main Street, but was wondering what else I could be looking for? I'll be bringing my binoculars so I'm hoping to be able to find some landmarks from my room :goodvibes I'm under 90 days now! :woohoo::cheer2:

That's basically what you will be able to see and I just wanted to add you can also see Splash Mountain, because I was able to see the log go down and the flash when the picture is taken.

On one of the DVC boards there is a topic about the Top Of The World Lounge and I saw this comment posted on there, where someone says they think that one day the South Garden Wing building will be demolished and another DVC building will replace it. So does anyone actually think that will happen one day?

Here is the comment from that thread which I am referring to.

Also my money is still on a second Contemporary tower as the next WDW based DVC. If so, that would be the next logical group to gain access.

Also this was my comment on that topic.

I doubt that will ever happen and I personally hope they never do that. Now I don't see it happening because the South Garden Wing rooms were just renovated, unlike the North Garden Wing rooms before it was demolished to make room for Bay Lake Tower. So why waste all that money they did renovating them? Plus with the loss of the North Garden Wing that made it harder to get a reservation at the Contemporary because the Tower is very popular, the list of conventions which happens there and the fact that their Garden Wing rooms are the least expensive rooms of the Monorail Resorts.

First let me say that I maybe asking a lot of questions from time to time until my disney trip in May at CR. I apologize in advance but this will be my first time staying onsite. Usually we would just get a really nice hotel in orlando but since I got a pin code it really helped out financially.

I want to be sure that I can really walk from the CR to magic kingdom without any problems. Is there a walkway with signs to show me?

If I wanted to go the the Poly to swim in there pool one time can I do that?

Since we're driving there we will have our mini van, can i park at another resort if we decide to eat there? also will there be a time limit or pay?

I gotta go since it's late and the kids haven't taken a bath yet. So busy here watching the New Orleans Saints go to 11-0 YEAH SAINTS:cool1:

BRB for a couple more questions

Yes you can walk to the Magic Kingdom which is very easy and here are links to pictures of the signs along the way.

No you can not swim at the Polynesian.

You can park your car at other resorts when going there to eat and you should be given a 3 hour parking pass, although others have reported of not getting one.

Well as a DVC member, I would firstly like to say that we've been told nothing about a second tower. Although DVC is going through a pretty large expansion: BLT, Treehouse, Kidanhi (sp?), Grand Californian in DL, and Hawaii.
So while I certainly wouldn't put it past them, I can't see it coming in the immediate future simply because there hasn't been enough time to really analyze BLT. Plus adding on another tower would mean more changes to CR, and after all of the recent renovations, I honestly don't see that happening. I also feel like it would not be in Disney's best interest to get rid of one of the cheaper parts of the deluxe resort system.

a little something i found that might add a little validity to that rumor

The less expensive deluxe resort rooms are a "gateway" rooms? :lmao: They lead to club level stays?

I know, for me, if I had that kind of money, it would be true ... :rotfl2:

Thank you very much. Can you also tell me if there is a microwave in the room or is there one available to use?

You're welcome and as for this question there are no microwaves in the room, although you can request one. However from what I hear they have a very limited amount of them. Although you can always use the one at the Contempo Cafe anytime you want.

That's one of the main points I was trying to get across on the other thread, so it's great to see a DVC member who thinks like that.

however, if i may play devil's advocate for my own point, actually getting a reservation is somewhat tough for DVC members, especially depending on the resort and time of year, so adding more properties and rooms would in theory, slightly simplify that problem. but with every new property, comes more owners... etc. so its a very complex issue.

That is a good point when looking at from a DVC prospective. However when looking at it from the side of those who just like staying at the Contemporary, would you not agree with only their Tower rooms remaining that would make it harder to get a reservation there? Plus the fact their rooms can be sold out months ahead when it comes to conventions, which is what makes the Garden Wing rooms very good.

Also like I said on that thread I am sure one thing which they could not add from another DVC tower is a walkway to the 4th floor, because of Chef Mickey's. So how would those guests get there and which building would they be reserving?

Thanks that is very good to know. Now do you request it once you get to the resort or can you call ahead of time and put in a request?
We are not doing the DDP and since we're driving we can eat our dinners other places. also I believe you mentioned a new golden corral and what about this restaurant called Manny's Chop House have you been there?

It seems that at some point, the maximum occupancy in a Deluxe Garden Wing room (there are 3 of them) changed from 3 to 4.

Does anyone know when this occurred and why?

I discovered this because someone posted questions on the Resorts forum about the Deluxe rooms and I replied. Today, a PP posted that they booked the Deluxe room for 2 adults and 2 children. When I checked the WDW website for the max. occupancy, it now shows 4, but it used to show 3.
:confused3

I would call CRO and request it before you arrive, because that will give you a better chance of getting it. However just remember it's nothing more then a request which means you might not get it.

Yes there is a new Golden Corral located at 7702 W. IRLO BRONSON HWY, which is on 192 Eastbound. Finally I have also not heard of Manny's Chop House.
