Greetings from the 14th floor! We have another wonderful room with a great MK view. We are very pleased with the resort, it's our favorite place to stay. I gotta say that this year's holiday display on the 4th floor concourse is a tad disappointing. The tree is ok- it's made of gingerbread and sits in front if the mural facing Fantasia gifts, but I miss Pinocchio. They are also selling treats right in front if the tree display, so it's behind the counter and registers. There is a cool monorail display right inside Fantasia gifts. I took pics but have to upload when I get home. I did snap some iPhone pics but can't post to the board, and I left laptop at home.

We are staying MK View Atrium Club for Christmas! We got an AWESOME deal with the military discount +dining- 40% off the room plus some small discount for dining. We finally get to stay for 7 nights at Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seeing that last picture with the tree in front of the CR is really getting me even more excited for our trip.... not much longer now!

While the room-only booking is 40% off for military/retirees through 12/31, the dining plan is not discounted at all. In fact, the dining plan is one of those components that while WDTC/Disney Destinations will offer free dining promos, they don't offer discounted dining plans that I've ever been aware of.

It's good to hear you were able to take advantage of the military -40% promo for Christmas since they recently extended it through 12/31.

We just told the kids today and my older son wants to know what the hours are for the pool at the Contemporary. Does anyone know, short of calling the Contemporary, what the hours are in December?

We are from New England, so ... if the kid wants to swim when it is 60 degrees, he can go ahead!

We origninally booked knowing we would pay rack rate for the last few days of our trip 12/20-12/27. When they extended the offer, of course I jumped on it. We just got our refund back for the extra days.. I must have miscalculated the day the offer ended, because we got more back than I expected. 5300 for 7 nights CR with dining, MK view Atrium Club. Great deal!

You are correct that 10:00 PM is when the lifeguards are finished working for that day. However I have seen guests swimming past 12:00 AM, so the pool does not officially close down. The only thing that is turned off is the water going down the sldie so that's the only time you can not ride it. So basically anytime you swim without the lifeguards it's at your own risk, incase something serious happens.

We are writing a letter to guest services and thanking everyone by name who just made our trip so magical. We lost the piece of paper with our favorite cast member. She worked on the 12th floor Atrium level and her job was restocking the food at night. She was from New York or Jersey I think, middle aged. Talked to us at length, her love of Disney just shined. You're welcome and I really wish I can tell you for sure, because after so many stays up there we do remember a few Cast Members. However it just so happens you are asking about one that does not ring a bell. Although in 2 weeks when my family and I are back there I bet the odd's are good we might see this Cast Member, based on the facts you have already said and then I will remember who you are talking about.

So ... how about a 15.6" laptop? I got a good deal on Black Friday. I might not even need to keep my extra photo cards if I could bring my laptop.

Also I read somewhere today that internet access is $10/day. Seems a bit like nickle and diming to me, given that wifi hot spots are everywhere. Are there any hot spots around "the world" or can I use a "public" computer somewhere in the Contemporary to check email?

It is a drop in the bucket, but I'm not thinking I will spend anything like $10/day worth, even at WDW prices.

Here is all the information about wifi hot stops inside the Contemporary.

Contemporary has wi-fi available in limited areas of the resort:

Main Lobby
Tower Club 14th Floor Concierge Lounge
Outer Rim Bar
1st Floor Convention Center Lobby
2nd Floor Convention Center Lobby
Main Pool

It is not free; cost if $4.99 for the first 60 minutes, or $9.95 for 24 continuous hours. You'll need a credit card for payment, as the wi-fi is provided by an outside vendor and is available to anyone, whether staying at CR or not.

Also the only public computers would be located at their business center which is located in their convention center, however it costs $10.00 for every 15 minutes your online. Finally their hours each day are from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM.

There is no WiFi in the rooms; you'll need to use a cable (they provide one). There is no free public computer either; the McDonalds nearby does have free WiFi.
