I stayed here like 30 years ago as a kid. Does the contemporary still have that huge arcade?

The arcade at the Food & Fun Center closed in 2007 and that location has now become The Wave. Today the arcade is located on the 4th floor of the Tower where the old Fantasia store use to be and is a lot smaller, however still have all the prizes and a lot of the same games.

Thanks for the reply. Bummer about the arcade not being what it used to be, i'm sure it's still cool but man I remember that being the best arcade ever back in the day. see you around the lake in 6 months!

You're welcome and I agree the old arcade was a lot better because of it's size.

Yes you would be speaking to a live Cast Member because you still need to pick up a folder that will have your KTTW cards should you do online check-in. However I would say it's a very good chance that should you be placed in a Garden Wing room that 99% you won't be changed to the Tower, so just incase don't be disappointed if they say there is nothing that can be done. Basically they are more strict about guests with convention rates because they have to accept where their room location is, even if it's in the Garden Wing.

Thanks for suggesting that we wait to checkin at the hotel. We received a club level upgrade by Sam at the front desk. It was the best week ever! Bobby in the club lounge took great care of us. I have to admit the hotel was loud and noisy (the electric parade on the Bay lake side was a killer). But we couldn't love the location and the rooms more than we did. Great week at the Contemporary.

Congratulations on getting that upgrade. :thumbsup2

Our family of 5 (dd7, dd4, dd>1 @ vacay time), is planning a trip for this fall. We thought we had decided on CR tower room w theme park view. Then, I saw on another thread about renting points for a DVC.
Do the 1 bd at BLT have a 2Q bed configuration? I've only seen the 1king. How difficult is the sofa bed to make and unmake on a daily basis?
Also, Can you still order room service from CR? How's the walk to the restaurants in CR?
I think my girls would LOVE the new splash park at BLT! I'd love the space and W/D.
I don't think I'll go wrong with either, but would love the extras at DVC with kids so young.
Thanks,
Jodie

I was just thinking that only on the major holidays when the Magic Kingdom has huge firework shows like July 4th and New Years Eve, should they restrict the 4th floor observation deck to only allow guests currently staying at the Contemporary to watch from there? Now that would be best for guests staying in the Tower with the Bay Lake View or the Garden Wing, because those with the Tower Magic Kingdom View wouldn't need to go out on the observation deck. I realize that the 4th floor observation deck is for anyone, however on those specific days only should it be restricted to Contemporary guests only? I guess you can also include Bay Lake Tower guests with the Bay Lake View or whatever other non Magic Kingdom Views they have, but only the ones who are not DVC members since they can't have access to the Top of The World Lounge.

I don't know...I think that if someone makes it over to the CR, then they can watch the display. It's only convenient to other MK area resorts or MK itself. I guess someone from WL - not great Wishes views - could get there relatively easily, but from GF or Poly, you have places you can see the show from anyway. Also, there might be people eating somewhere at the CR and I have no problem with paying customers taking advantage of an amenity at the resort! I don't see busloads of people from moderates, values, or the EPCOT area Deluxes trooping over to the CR just to watch the fireworks, kwim?

I personally can't wait to watch the shows from the 4th floor! Sometimes I second guess my decision to do a BLV instead of TPV but oh well. We had a nice view of the lake from our courtyard view WL room and I loooooved seeing it in the mornings!! So peaceful.

Also, do you know if king size beds are scattered throughout, or only on certain floors? I want a higher floor, but also wanted a king size bed. Thanks!!:goodvibes

We have booked 3 villas end of February for our families and we have a few questions:

Is there a coffee maker? Do they provide coffee filters? Or should we bring our own. We do not like the coffee provided in packets and prefer to bring our own coffee.

Where can we get refill for our cups? Is it just the food court at the contemporary? How far is that?

Where do we grab the bus if we go to DHS?

I have seen that there is a craft room, is this open to anyone, not just DVC owner? We booked with WDW as a package.

Are some of the 1 bedroom villa communicating with other 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom villas? Can we make a request.

What are the pool hours?

We are getting close - 3 weeks to go and the kids are very excited.

Thanks

The only questions I can answer is these.

The mugs can be purchased at the Contempo Cafe inside the Contemporary on the 4th floor and can be used there until 12:00 AM which is when they close. To get there you would go to 5th floor and then you would take the sky bridge over to the Contemporary. The mugs can also be used at the Bay Lake Tower pool bar until it closes, however I am not sure what time that is and I don't know if they are sold there.

As for the buses you will get them from the Contemporary bus station and from main entrance of Bay Lake Tower which is not a far walk.

Any news on whether they decided to extend the Wave breakfast buffet? I know I read it was on a trial period through end of January, wondered if it had been successful enough to become a permanent offering.

My husband and I just got back last week from a split stay between the Boardwalk Inn Club Level and the CR Club Level. I ended up with food poisioning from one of the Disney quick service restaurants and was so sick my first night at the CR that I couldn't leave the room. Thank heavens for Holly at the concierge desk as she sent someone to get me gingerale and kept bringing me ice.

We had a MK view room and after our stay this time I would not stay any where else. The room was spotless, the view perfect and the concierge staff were fantastic.

I am sorry to hear you got sick and at WDW, however I know the feeling because in August 2006 I also got sick there and couldn't leave the room. Although it's great what Holly sent you all that Gingerale and at least you enjoyed staying there.

Thanks CR Fan, we loved our stay there and are planning on a trip for Christmas of 2012. You have been a wealth of information and helped us make our decision to stay there our first time last year. :)

I had a dream about the CR last night!:lmao:Only in my dream, which wasn't quite right, the building had a high-walled courtyard in the middle where the pool was. The Castle was juuuust visible over the wall, and I had was sad to learn that my lower-level room only showed a tiny bit of the spire.

Does this mean I've been reading too many room and resort threads??:rotfl:Do I need to seek professional help?

Recently booked a 3 night stay for the DH & I at the BLT for my Birthday in September & F&W fest. We're staying in a LV Studio hopefully on a high floor. Hopefully we'll be able to get that semi-MK view and see wishes from our balcony.

I can't wait! First time staying on property in 10 years. Last place we stayed at was the CR on Oct 11, 2001 in a garden wing.

I remember the only time we stayed in the tower they had just changed out the toilets and they had a button on the top to flush and I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. This must of been when I was 6-ish:rotfl:. I've always been a fan of the "modern-ness" of the contemporary decor.

YAY! So Excited! :woohoo:
