~*~The After-Twilight Bookclub!!!~*~

Has anyone read Sarah Dessen? No vampires, but some great stories about real issues.

I didn't read all 23 pages of posts, but it seems like everyone is sticking to vampire novels. Dessen's books are also young adult and deal with teenagers. A really good read. I've read Just Listen, The Truth About Forever, and Lock & Key. Highly recommend them.

A few more things about Blood Promise (SPOILERS! IN WHITE!)...

I didn't include the full text in the quote, so here is my reply in white to avoid spoilers.
I loved that Abe was her father! Actually, I didn't even think about that as a possibility! OK, I love Dimetri and I wish him & Rose could be together, but I love Adrian and I would love to see how they would be together. I love the next quest Rose will go on! I did not see it coming. Do you think Adrian will tag along with her and Lissa? I really can't wait for the next book! 2010 is too far away!!

hey guys! I can't find the other thread!!!??! Is this a new one already or is it something else I have stumbled upon??? Anyhoo....I'm probably super late to the game but I'm gonna try and post this link ( although I am sure CB has already done it in 4 different languages!)

did it work?? huh huh did it??

Spoilers in white ahead!

I hope Adrian doesn't tag along, I would like to see Lissa and Rose's adventures, but only them. Well, if she gets back together with Christian he'll probably tag along, but otherwise just the two of them would be awesome.

Thanks for all the tricky spoiler stuff! I know you guys are trying to keep me and others from seeing the spoiler but I accidently saw this: (in white)" abe was her father" but that was my own fault for accidently trying to reply with a quote! ROFL :rotfl2: I was trying to cover up the monitor! LOL What a dope. That was all I saw so I have no idea who's father abe was! or what it has to do with anything yet! LOL

I'm half way through the book. I'm so happy to have my read on again! I've been MIA from the literary world for most of the summer!

I can't wait to come back and finish reading all the "in white" stuff!

TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Sarah Dessen! My favorite book is The Truth About Forever. I loved Lock & Key as well as Just Listen. I read her newest Along For the Ride and it was just okay for me. I was a little let down to be honest, I thought it was predictable and too much like her other books. Just mediocre IMO. I hope her next book is better and goes in a different direction.

May I borng to the table a new somewhat comical series by Jennifer Rardin. The first book is called Once Bitten, Twice Shy. And it is a kick.

*Spoiler*
The main character is a woman named Jaz who when referring to a past mistake she referred to it as PDD, previous ******* decision. Or when referring to a well endowed female vampire as "Vampire Barbie". It's a kick.

Two great recommendations, thanks.. I'm going to add them to my goodreads!

EDIT: I looked them up on goodreads.. the Sarah Dessen might be a teence to sappy for me.. but I used to love friendship stories maybe I'm just too hardened into supernatural stuff now. I should try one of these...

The Once Bitten Twice Shy reminds me of another book called "Dead Witch Walking" ... I have a few series like this in my cue.

Oh no! I better hurry up and finish Hunger Games!LOL I didn't know the 2nd book will be out tomorrow!

Travelmel, you are too funny! Sorry you caught sight of the spoilers from Blood Promise!!

CP, I had another thought about Blood Promise I wanted to share with you, in white of course!
Do you think the reason Viktor so easily turned his daughter (in the first book) into a striogi because he thought he could turn her back? I have been thinking about this. When I read the first book I thought he was so cruel and cold hearted to do that to his daughter. But now I am thinking maybe he did it thinking his brother knew how to change her back and he didn't think she would get killed so there was less risk. What do you think?

I just finished the 4th book in the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter, and OMG! it was so great!! I love all the books in the series, they are adult only books, but such a good story with great characters.

*** is wrong with people... i go to the library to do some reading during my lunch hour and this guy is sitting across from me downing those little bottles of airline alcohol. i went to security then high tailed it outta there before that guy had a chance to get behind the wheel. that was almost as disturbing as the guy who exposed himself to me at burger kind when i was 17!

darn guy ruined my reading time.

Maybe, but for me it doesn't take away from him commiting such a horrible selfish thing even if there was a small chance he might bring her back. I still think he's pretty much evil.

BTW, was I the only one who kept thinking Rose was pregnant every time she got nauseous? LOL
:rotfl:

BTW, I'm like a 100 pages into Catching Fire. Loving it so far!:thumbsup2

I picked up my copy of Catching Fire yesterday. I am probably going to start it, but first I need to finish Once Bitten, Twice Shy first. :thumbsup2

I *tried* to read all 24 pages of this thread but got quickly overwhelmed. :) I wnated to say that i have worked in publishing for YEARS and read way too much. I know quite a few books have been recommended but wanted to share some of my favs. they are not necesarily paranormal or ya but just some legitimate great reads:

Looking for Alaska
SPeak (laurie halse anderson)
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter & Sweet (wonderful story takes place in San Fran. it's during WW1 (i think) and it's about the struggle of a chinese boy and a japanese girl that he loves and what happens when she is sent to an internment camp. it's a very moving and not necessarily lovey story inspite of how i just described it LOL)
Sunshine by RObin McKinnley

Upcoming:
Follow up to FOrest of Hands and Teeth (i may be able to get some ARCs if you PM me i can send one along).
Fallen by Lauren Kate
Juliet (a retelling/mystery of ROmeo and JUliet)
ALice, I ahve been-the fictional biography of the girl the ALice and WOnderland stories were written about.

I am going to pick up vampire academy 4 today. Sad when i am hoping for a bit of rain this weekend so i can read it! :)

Kitzka, I sent you a PM and I plan on looking for Hotel on the Corner of Bitter & Sweet at my local bookstore. It sounds like a great read.

i just got Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian for FREE as a download to my ipod kindle app on amazon.. GREAT read. if you liked BDB you'll like this book. they suckered me totally in and now i have to buy the whole series. i've also begun the jeaniene frost, Night Huntress series (it was recommended here, i believe) and i'm really enjoying it.

I'm also halfway through the Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter series and like them, although they are bodice rippers and a bit repetative.

amazon has a whole bunch of interesting free kindle downloads for anyone who has an iphone, itouch or kindle.

I just finished Catching Fire today. Great book, but whoa what a cliffhanger ending!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: I hope we don't have to wait another year for the last book.
