~*~The After-Twilight Bookclub!!!~*~

My DD12 is an avid reader... she took about 9 books on vacation with her whcih is all we could fit in her luggage. So she's sitting on the BEAUTIFUL beach and her cousin (age 9) says to her sister (age 11), "How many books did your sister bring?" in sort of a snottyish little-girl-what's-the-matter-with-your-sister-is-she-crazy voice. To which her sister replied "I don't know but it won't be enough" :rotfl: Tru Dat!

So hey I noticed I had this video next to that beach video on photobucket so I'm gonna share it.

One week after that video above was taken I went from the 90 degree so cal beach to the 50 degree overcast beauty of the Puget Sound! My first question: Where was Free Willy filmed???

Whale Watching in the San Juan Islands

Hope everybody is enjoying the summer!

I just wanted to add a few things about the Half Way to The Grave book. I don't think I mentioned it is a part of a series and the series is called The Night Huntress. There are 3 books and the 4th one comes out July 28th. There will be 8 books in this series. There is plans for 2 spin offs, each there own book, focusing on characters from the Night Huntress Series. Actually I believe one of them comes out soon. Anyway, I read the 2nd book, One Foot in the Grave, and it was just as great as the first! Loved it and it was funny too! But I do want to mention that this is an ADULT book if you KWIM.;) If you liked the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, you'll like this series.:thumbsup2

I so need to start and read these books. Hey, are they appropriate for the tween set? I need something that I can send with my DD12 while she's on vacation (AGAIN)

The sex is mild. But, it is there. I love the books, they are filled with adventure and intrigue.

Thanks for the heads up! I just haven't been reading as much lately. I think it's the lovely weather.

I have been reading just at bedtime. Which is taking it's toll on my sleep because I am finding these books hard to put down.

my son is a bookworm like that too.. something to be proud of!

he stunned us by reading a harry potter book in three days..

I know some of us have kids that love to read too. My DD is 11 and she just loves the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. There are 5 books and they are really popular now. There is even a movie coming out based on the books in Feb. 2010. They are fantasy, with lots of Greek Mythology. She has been reading one after the other and staying up late like me reading! I just thought I would pass that along for a suggestion for the kids. I am thinking of reading them too!

They are well worth the read. They are lots of fun mixed with adventure.

My DD12 loved the series! In fact they had a "Percy Jackson" party at the local library... the poor little volunteers were OVERRUN with little Olympians running all over the place. They expected 20 and got like 60. lol Now there are sign up sheets for events. :teacher:

Desnik, thanks for the suggestions! I'm tied up with the latest Outlander book getting ready for the next one to come out in the fall so it will be awhile before I move on (long books, can't skim like usual). I am looking forward to trying those soon-I love BDB, too!
Mel, that picture of your daughter is like me at the beach :thumbsup2-my husband just shakes his head anymore.:confused3

Hellooo ladies! Updates on the reads...I read My Sister's Keeper, done now, and absolutely loved it. I'm now reading a book called Evernight by Claudia Gray. I'm about halfway through and so far, so good. I still have Beastly to read and I'm waiting for Blood Promise and the second Hunger Games book to come out.

I have Evernight on my To-Reads list but I must be honest. I haven't been reading SQUAT lately! Too many things going on... plus I think I enjoy reading more when it's raining and there's nothing else to do. Maybe I just haven't gotten the right book lately.

I read 1/3 of Carpe Demon - the adventures of a demon hunthing soccer mom. - it's pretty cute though!

I finally got City of Glass from the library-that took forever! I started reading it and was amazed that I had already forgotten some of what was going on. I had to put A Breath of Snow and Ashes aside for the moment as there was no way that I would have been through both books in time for me to take City of Glass back to the library.
I'll let you know what I think! I have some idea about one plot point already but I'm pretty mystified about the rest of it.

i know what you mean about forgetting. right now i couldn't tell you what the whole book was about and i just read it not too long ago. i do remember discussing it here and there were some twists that we all were stumped on and were surprised at the outcome.. which is always good, better to be kept guessing then have everything completely predictable.

today i went to books-a-million and they had tons of books for 75% off, i ended up buying a bunch. my library shelves are almost full already!

Oh, I can't wait for the next Hunger Games book. I enjoyed My Sister's Keeper too...although it seemed a little emotionally manipulative at times. I cried like a baby at the end.

I know, right! The Karin Mooning book is coming out soon, too! (Fever series)

Blood Promise comes out tomorrow!! I can't wait, I have been waiting for this book, it's the 4th in the Vampire Academy Series.

I just bought Hunger Games and I plan to start reading it tonight.

For those on goodreads.com, my user name there is the same, Desnik. You will see on there that I have been reading a lot of paranormal romance series lately. What can I say, sometimes I like a good steamy book! For my fellow Black Dagger Brotherhood lovers, try reading the Lords of the Underworld Series by Gena Showalter, or Larissa Ione's Demonica Series. I really enjoyed both of them!

The Fever Series by Karin Mooning is on my to read list. There is just too many books and not enough time!!;)

Hunger Games is a great read. I really enjoyed, as did my DH and my 13 year old DS. The second book comes out on September 1 and I will pick it up.

How have I missed this thread?! :confused3

I've been reading the Southern Vampire Mysteries aka the Sookie Stackhouse novels (the books the show True Blood is based on for those of you who might not know)...omg they are amazing. I haven't been able to put them down. I read 4 of them in about 5 days. I have 3 left to read still, but at this rate I'll be done by Thursday. I'm trying to figure out what the heck I'm going to do afterward, especially since the show only has 3 episodes left in the 2nd season too. :confused3
