Hey, not fair!LOL I can't believe it's been out for a week some places and I didn't even notice! I have been waiting for this book! Glade to hear you liked it. I will be out in the morning to buy it!

How have I missed this thread?! :confused3

I've been reading the Southern Vampire Mysteries aka the Sookie Stackhouse novels (the books the show True Blood is based on for those of you who might not know)...omg they are amazing. I haven't been able to put them down. I read 4 of them in about 5 days. I have 3 left to read still, but at this rate I'll be done by Thursday. I'm trying to figure out what the heck I'm going to do afterward, especially since the show only has 3 episodes left in the 2nd season too. :confused3

You know a lot of people have told me to read these books and they are very popular but for some reason I just don't think I'll like them. I tried watching 2 episodes of True Blood and I really hated it, so I don't think I will like the books. Is the show exactly like the books?

No, although the first season tracked the first book fairly well, the second season has been a huge departure for the most part. That being said, I love the books and the show. They are easy to read and the characters are fun. We aren't talking great works of literature, but I think the writing is solid and engaging.

Same here. I like the series just fine, but not enough that I think I can get into the book series.

RE: Blood Promise

If you scroll down this site you will see a video of "Talking with Richelle Mead" .. it's kinda fun to hear how to pronounce Dhampir!

Enjoy!

I didn't realize that this author lives in Seattle.. I know the vamps live in the ice and snow but the author is another Pacific Northwest vampire fan!

While I wasn't looking a couple other books that have been talked about here have dropped their sequels!

The author of "The Great and Terrible Beauty" wrote another YA but this time a comedy.. it's getting great reviews but is a big departure from the Gemma trilogy. I cannot WAIT to read it!

This next series is awesome! I highly recommend it. Not too much this or that.. just enough. Book 3 was a cliffhanger and book four dropped last week!

Like donald&daisy said, the first season followed the first book pretty well, but the second season is veering off a bit from the second book. It took me around 3 or so episodes of it to really get into it. It's kind of cheesy & ridiculous at times, but that's the whole fun in it. I love both the show & the books, even with the differences. They're both fun & funny with an interesting storyline & really great characters.

If you don't mind me asking, what didn't you like about the two episodes you saw?

If you like the show, you will probably love the books. They are realllly good. I didn't think I'd be so into them because I knew about some of the stuff that the show had that the books didn't (I don't want to spoil it, but it just had to do with a minor character and a lack of being able to stare at Alexander Skarsgard.) The books almost make up for the lack of visual aids (*ahem* Alex ;))

The 2 episodes I saw, one from the first season, one from this new season just seemed so silly at times. I don't want to offend fans of the show but I was just laughing at it, not with it, at it. KWIM? JMO, but none of the vampires appeal to me. I really wanted to get into this series because vampires are my favorite genre and I guess I'm just not "feeling it" for this show. So, that has made me not want to read the books.

This book is sooooooooooooooooo good... popcorn::

I know right??!!! I just wish I had more time to devote to reading it! Why does school have to start next week? I have to get my kids supplies, hair cuts, clothing! All I want to do is read!!:lmao:

Do any of you on this thread use a KINDLE? What do you think of it?

So many books I want to read, but new release prices are sometimes insane.

In response about the Sookie books, I think they are a fun read. Very entertaining! The True Blood series has gone in a wildly different direction (though I'm loving it), but the books are worth checking out. It's not just vamps, but the whole supernatural community.

When I read the books, I completely pictured Eric a different way-maybe more burly? I can't get into Bill in True Blood just because of what he does in the books although obviously Stephen and Anna have a great chemistry!:rotfl: Alex has really grown on me though-I love that dream Sookie had where Eric said he only had love for Sookie... be still my beating heart!! :rotfl2: How cute is Jason though?? I love what they've done with the character in True Blood this season-I don't remember him doing anything in the second book :confused3.

Back to books-I am still reading book 6 in the Outlander series although when I finished City of Glass, I loved it so much that I've bought the whole series and am re-reading it slowly to tie everything together finally. I used a gift card I had for Amazon and bought book 2 in the Faefever series (among other things)-gotta get back to that series after hearing how good book 4 was!

I don't have one but I want one! At first I didn't think I would like it. Then my neighbor came over and showed hers to me and I couldn't believe it! The screen really looks like a book page! Also, the way you can order the books right from it is great! Dangerous, but great!LOL;)

Just finished reading Blood Promise, loved it! But Gah! Another cliff-hanger! I want the next book!

Yes, I have a Kindle!! And I LOVE it! New release prices are sometimes expensive, but if you wait a week or two, they usually get cheaper. I bought Jennifer Weiner's new book not thinking, and then a week later it was $5 cheaper! :headache: Well worth it for me though, because the nearest bookstore is 45 minutes away and you don't have to pay shipping to download the books. So it is very cost effective for me. I know others it is not, but I recommend it to everyone...I love it that much!!

A few more things about Blood Promise (SPOILERS! IN WHITE!)...

I figured out Abe was Rose's father pretty early on in the book, I thought he was awesome! I hope we see more of him in the future. I really don't want Rose to end up with Adrian... And I was really saddened by Lissa and Christian's break-up... :(
