Oh, perfect!!! I tried Google translatoring (I love my new word) German for metalcrafting, and other things like that, but to no K word avail. I like the reference to our sad experience so far on this trip.

Well, that's proof for Google not being good at translating... I would have been a much better source! :lmao: There is a German word for artist blacksmith (which in my understanding would be the one making metal crafting) and that's Kunstschmied (Kunst is art and Schmied is blacksmith). :confused3

I think it is nice that you and Wendy have the same picture! :goodvibes And at least my grandparents always told the story so that you would return to Nuremberg (they lived here before I moved to Nuremberg, so I guess they hoped to make us come for more visits by letting us turn that ring!) :goodvibes

And I think the story about it appearing magically unfortunately is as true as the story about Blizzard Beach having suddenly appeared at WDW after a freak snow storm in California... :rolleyes1

I so totally knew I should have consulted the expert, but lately, my updates only are happening when my family pops in a movie on a few evenings during the week. Last night we were all treated to the classic showing of The Return of the Fly- in which Vincent Price turns out a perfect performance of thriller genre!!! Seriously, it belongs in the Sci-Fi Dine In!!!

Anyway, I knew there must be some really great German word that would have worked, but sadly I didn't have time to really research it. I will definitely remember Kunst though for a future installment!!

Ha!! I think it's as popular a photo in Nuremberg as the castle in the background on Main Street in MK. :lmao: I'm sure your grandparents wanted LOTS of visits from their darling grand-daughters. Good story to lure you back!

I certain it is!! Sure makes for a nice legend though- it adds some mystery and intrigue to the sightseeing!! :thumbsup2

All those fresh veggies look so pretty and delicious! I'm sorry the berries made a re-appearance though. Ouch. :(

Had I had a week in Nuremberg, I would have made it a special point to go back and spend some more time photograhing them!

I thought an obvious wish would be for a Magical trip to Disney in just a couple short weeks from this day!!

Liesa! You weren't supposed to tell us what your wish was! :sad2: Oh wait - I guess that doesn't count since it's after the fact. :rolleyes1

I hope Mike at least enjoyed the berries as they went down.

I could have wished for more of those German sausages, but I knew there'd be another chance soon for those... :rolleyes1

I think he enjoyed them far more going down... I'd have wished for cream to go on them- Mmmmm.... fresh berries n' cream.

Oh. My. Gosh. I actually think I know where a letter is from!! I am guessing:

Jiko!!

I know where the K is from JIKO

Catching up... A sensitive tummy need plain familiar food. The berries confused Mike's tummy.

Love all the site in Germany.

Poor Mike - barfing up berries! Yuck!

Your pictures of Nuremberg continue to fascinate me. What an interesting story about the brass ring. I also love the picture of the fresh fruit stand. Very cool!

Just for the record, I have no idea where that K is found.

Hey Pat! Long time no see!

Yep, you're right! Mike needed a plain pretzel with a Coke. Not a pint of berries, nor tasty, greasy sausages.

Beautiful ironwork. Poor hubby:sick:

Yeah... everything we saw was fabulous - except rebounding berries.

I think you of all poeple would have loved the textures and colors of the veggie/ fruit stands. They were fun to photograph.

ANd even the shadows of the fountain were awesome!

THanks!!

Tammie,
Sorry this reply is so long in coming been having problems with puter...Yes we will be recording and sending the big reveal to Disney. Our DS birthday is Nov 3rd so we are throwing him a "surprise" Club Penguin pizza party on Oct 29th where his first present will be what appears to be a clothes box with right there on top of the Disney Shirts I am making will be our large Disney Reservation Info which shows that we are leaving the next morning (his PP is at 7) at 10am for Disney World :)

Hey! I missed this the first time, sorry. I was on my cruise when you posted this reply! Have a fabulous time!!!! You are telling him TOMORROW!!!!!!:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3: Please show us your video when you get back!!!!

Great Update. That fountain is so beautiful. To bad for Mike with the berries:sick:, however I bet it may have been worth it to have fresh berries after so long.

My goodness, the fountain is incredibly beautiful. Just one of the many reasons I love Europe and sooo looking forward to visiting Germany & Austria one day. My grandfather was German, but he died when I was 2 so we never had the opportunity to learn more about where in Germany he was from. Often have wondered how he and my Scottish/Southern (Mississippi) grandmother met and what brought him to America. My grandparents/parents generations were more interested in being Americans than learning about their European history.

Poor Mike!! Your family certainly a tummy challenge while visiting Nuremberg....but did not seem to slow you down. Bless your hearts.:grouphug:

:woohoo: Finally one I knew!

Some will be easier than others, and I know you'll get a few more!!

Tonight's the night! I think ~ may have been last night.

You're right! It just may have been! ;) But I think just the rich combo of lunch and those, was enough to put him over the edge!

I think you've hit on something. My grandparents were the same way... so wrapped up in learning English and "assimilating" that they really didn't talk about the Old World too much. Kind of sad actually, and now they are all gone.

Nope didn't slow me down. I have the next installment about 1/2 typed up, and it should be up later today!!

Meantime, I sent a job application in today to a really cool Toy Store. It'd be about 15 hours a week, and I'd love for it to pan out- it's just a temp. holiday job, but want to use it as a "test the waters of working outside the home" job. I'll let you know as things progress (or not).

:woohoo: Great way to 'test the waters'. Fingers crosed.:thumbsup2
