The gowns are beautiful!!!!! I am lucky I can get the button to stay on after I sew it on. I am not crafty at all. Please post pictures of everyone wearing theirs.

Liesa those growns are beautiful. I hope you have a great time at the ball tinight, and stop stressing about tomorrow. I'm sure you'll do great.

They both came home (the poor lady you stole from, from the grocery store, and Swiffer from the Vet) and said, "Hey, where're my.......?"

Oooooooooooooh, now I get it... YOu know, I'm not even blond-ish anymore, so there really is no excuse anymore. :rotfl2::sad2:

Soooo beautiful! You did such a great job! We want photos of all y'all in the dresses. :goodvibes

I giggled when I saw that line.....but I just let all my little thoughts and comments die before they ever saw the light of day.....didn't want anybody to get the wrong idea about me :littleangel: :lmao:

:rolleyes1 What line?

Thanks guys (and gals!). It's been fun to make them, but made me realize once again how much I'd RATHER be quilting if I'm sewing. Garments are NOT my forte!

You are all sick and twisted... (and a little like me). Funny how I came home with 2 kinds of nuts. Now, time for a survey~~ I have to make brownies for the Ball-- Should I go with the legal pecans, or the ripped off walnuts??

Sorry I missed the survey. I personally would have voted no nuts, if you were set on putting them in I would have said pecans since I'm like your DH slightly allergic to them. My face won't blow up or anything, but I tend to have issues with my mouth feeling like it's been scalded.

He came home with 2 kinds of nuts??

Oh my! :rotfl:

Nancy Drew and the Case of the Missing...

wait...can I say that on the DIS?

:rotfl:

Oooooooooooooh, now I get it... YOu know, I'm not even blond-ish anymore, so there really is no excuse anymore. :rotfl2::sad2:

This is what's fondly called around our house...."Your blonde roots are tickling your brain."

I hope you are having a BLAST at the ball!!!!

I guess I could say that I hope you are having a BALL at the Ball!!!

Yeah for a photopass!!!!!

Liesa, hope all of your busy weekend went smoothly! I'm sure you did great with your talk. Can't wait to hear all about it and see the pics of the weekend events!

Well, here they are, as promised. I cannot get Bekka home long enough, or no too busy to get her actually in the dress, so these will have to do.

Hers hangs too low in the front, so we'll have to have her wear a camsole or T underneath; somehow I cannot picture Susan from L,W&W with a low cut look.

The sleeves aren't on mine yet, but will look just like Bek's but in in white with silver cording. The neck gets a lace yoke on the neckline. I"m thinking of wearing my tiara (that you saw on Brook's TR a couple days ago) to round out my Galadriel look. I'd love an elfy looking something, but have not the time nor inclination to get one made. Anyway, this here is your latest episode of "ANYONE can sew!" Brought to you by no letter at all. ;)

Liesa,
Those gowns are just lovely! Was your ball this weekend? How did it go?
I love to sew I used to when my kids were much younger. I loved to make my DD Christmas dresses I saved everyone. I wish I had more time to sew, but the kids are so busy I have no time.

Hi Liesa, those gowns are very pretty! I hope your presentation yesterday was well received! I hope life will be a bit easier for you this week. :goodvibes

Morning Liesa I am trying to keep up with all my threads to day , Have been sooo busy with work since I got back!!

Liesa, I hope the events went well this weekend. I am sure you did great with your talk/presentation.

I confess, the words "invisible zipper" make my skin crawl. Just when I think I might get inspired to sew again, words like that remind me that I really don't have the patience to do it right. I hope many pictures were taken, joyous times were had and you danced your feet off.

no nuts. Bleh.

And if it makes you feel better, I went to bed at 9:15 on Saturday night, utterly worn out and slept for 11 hours.

Do you mind a late comer? ;) I followed you over from Brook's report and I've loved all of your updates. What an adventure for sure!!

Hey Liesa!

I aint even gonna try to catch up on all the banter. But I did enjoy the latest episodes. Love the photos of the old church.

I'm glad you finally arrived at the hotel and that the hurling was mostly done before anyone looke at that light fixtures. ('Cause goodness knows there would have been hurling afterwards.)

As promised, here are the pictures of our fantastic evening Saturday. In one word, our time at the "Literary Ball" was LOVELY!! Really a fantastic evening of meeting new people, learning new steps to quite an elegant dance style, and enjoying seeing the costumes everyone was wearing.

My favorites were the Regency Period costuming, but there was an amazing variety!! In fact, my favorite literary character of all time, Miss Haversham from Great Expectations, made an appearance. Two guys came as Jeeves and Wooster; and another as a Scottish literary character, kilt and all.

Speaking of the young men, I have never seen a more polite and genteel group of guys. The rules of the ball insist that the young men ask the ladies to the dance floor with a bow and a "May I have this dance?". Curtseys and thank you's were pervasive parts of the evening, and in general it was a wonderful, wonderful time. Of course, there were times I felt like poor Mr. Collins- some of the dances were a bit tricky. But I"m certain, after a few times, they get will get easier.

We started our evening at the elegant eating establishment of Taco Bell:

We got home from McMinnville about 12:30 in the morning. On the way home, I totally ran a red light (it was VERY rainy that night) because, it turned yellow with not enough time to stop; for fear of hydroplaning I didn't slam on my brakes, so ran it. There was a cop sitting on my left, and by sheer miracle he didn't stop me. THANK GOD!! because my dress was totally unzipped. I had made it a scooch too small, and by the end of the evening couldn't breathe! It would have been ummm... awkward indeed to have been asked to step out and lose my dress right there in the rain.

So, I came home, and my sweetie hubby had lit candles around the house, so we could see where we were going. I built the fire back up, and got all cozy, and got to work on my presentation for the next morning. By the time 2:00 rolled around I was feeling pretty good about what I was going to say, and after a short 5 hours of sleep we were off to chuch (next door) to celebrate what God has done through our family over the last 10 years. All went well, and we had a great time telling stories, showing some pictures, and all that jazz. Unfortunately, it triggered some deep grief for my middle girl, and she had a full-on meltdown (think gutteral sobbing) after the presentation. For about a half hour, we sat just hugging her and trying to comfort best we could.

Very impressive costumes!

I don't even know half of the characters you just mentioned. Now, if you'd thrown in a Boba Fett or Dr. McCoy....

Aw, sorry to read about your daughter. It's going to take some adjusting. (As if I know what I'm talking about. You know it better than I do.)

So you tried to make off with the wrong shopping cart? Was there anything else good in there? I bet that poor soul is still wondering what the heck happened to their walnuts!

Those costumes are absolutely gorgeous. No, I could never do that, so I am super impressed!

I was too busy trying to run as fast as I could to notice what else was in there.

There were some costumes 100 times better than ours. :thumbsup2

The gowns are beautiful!!!!! I am lucky I can get the button to stay on after I sew it on. I am not crafty at all. Please post pictures of everyone wearing theirs.

Done. Hope you like them. :goodvibes
