Liesa, great update. Unfortunately not enough time for comments, but I will comment. But I will be away for the weekend, so won't be able to post before Sunday.

BUT I looked into the steeple issue: It appears to be only a fashion! ;) No real meaning behind it. But it might be that the two tower fashion (there are even some with even more steeples) might have been at a time when nobody built churches in the US yet.

:rotfl: Don't you have yarn shops in the US? I can easily take pictures of more yarn shops (including the one in the house next to mine) if you would want to see them! :goodvibes

Hi Wendy, great to see you here! Thanks for the compliment which I can gie right back to you! :goodvibes

How funny that you bought croissants at Ditsch - they are usually known for their pretzels! ;)

If I would have known that I would have gotten a pretzel to! Shoot!

Well, as long as you can FEEL it, and not have any other sensory realities. :scared: :lmao:

We really needed that walk- let me tell ya!

As in Dole Whips? :lmao: Or as in how much I suck at your game?

Yes, The DISBoards, your local all-inclusive European travel digest. :rotfl2: More urges forthcoming...

Relief is a fitting word- to be sure!

I like that they take the freedom to decorate uniquely; there was nothing sterile or cookie cutter about it! :thumbsup2 I wish I had gotten a photo of the curio cabinet FULL of someone's bell collection. That was really cool!

That's RIGHT!! You're a knitter extraordinaire! One who even wins awards and ribbons, if I'm not mistaken.:cheer2: I can understand your excitement- it'd be like someone showing photos of a well-stocked fabric shop to me.

A great big, gigantic :welcome: to you, Wendy!!! So glad you've uncloaked yourself and are lending yourself to be assimilated! It won't take long...

They are VERY lovely and friendly, and were so helpful too!! I loved our day and evening with them so very much, and we'll be getting to that in another several installments. (Ask the regulars, I tend to go anti-warp speed around here, making my reports last just short of 4-ever.)

Now, let's see what else?? We have always flown into Frankfurt because that's the only place that has flights to and from Almaty. We spent a half day once there too, and loved that as well. ICE trains? What more can I say? I did see a "waiter" going up and down the aisle with drinks and pastries, but assumed it was only for a class above ours. Sure would have been a nice service iwth our circumstances so I didn't have to leave the kids to get my coffee. (I did anyway, because I firmly believe my coffee is more important than my puking children. :lmao: (I'm kidding, for all of you don't know that I love sarcasm.) )

Gosh, I didn't get the name of the pastry place we loaded up at- it was in the airport, and at that point, I was stressed out about finding the luggage storage place and the train station. Shoot!

Someday, we'd love to see more of Europe, but might opt for Southern France or Italy next time. We also love our tropical vacations to Thailand, and want to see something of the Caribbean as well. So it will be a while before we make it back to Germany again.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Sarcsam?? who doen't love sarcsam!! I tink I'll fit right in around these parts! Ok now to go and read your next installment!

Hi Magdelene,
Was that the church you took us in? I couldn't tell by the pictures.

All7ofus:

Lovely pictures! I too love stained glass windows!

So, it was just Mike and I- the non-puking pair- who would be first to venture out to the see the sights.
Well, Mike HAD already endured so much!!!
I am a sucker for stained glass, and there was plenty of that, as well as a massive organ (I don’t mean like livers and spleens here),
Pancreas maybe? :confused3
The organ pipes were especially impressive!!
That is one NICE set of pipes!!! :thumbsup2 There is a very old church in the town I grew up in that has a very nice pipe organ too! Not as old as this church, obviously, but it does have reminders of the Revolutionary War inside as it was used as a stable for Washington's troops at one time. (and no Glenn, not that kind of reminders.....hoof prints!):rotfl2:
As were the arches…

DSCN8339.jpg
I bet that IS one impressive site in person! :scared1:
And as a benediction, I’ll leave you with this one, I’m sure he’d wish you a Magical Day!

DSCN8344.jpg
What an inspiration this would have to be to any LIVING person who passes by! :worship:
:thumbsup2

Very nice update. I'm sure it's one of those occasions where the pictures can't compare to being there in person.
True Dat!
Haha, must be an updating kind of night; I just read Captain Oblivious' update, and was just headed off to check yours, as it's been, ummm.... entertaining recently. :rotfl2:
Yep, I saw the Captain's update too. Good night, friend. I'm wiped out.
Oh no, not another highly recommended TR I have to go join in on......:lmao:
Can't you just use your toothbrush?
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Yeah, you came dangerously close to belittling my spoons with that spork reference!:sad2:

Hi Magdelene,
Was that the church you took us in? I couldn't tell by the pictures.

No, St Sebald was the church right behind the place where we had lunch (which I think might be featured in the next update from Liesa :rolleyes1) The church I saw with you was St Lorenz (Lawrence in English). :goodvibes

Yet another reason to come back to Nuremburg! Shoot I really wish we would have had more time!

Your surprise is going to be so great! When are you giving it to him? Are you going to video it and send it to Disney for their new campaign? I watched the live announcements and they were showing people surprising their kids, it made me cry!

Tammie,
Sorry this reply is so long in coming been having problems with puter...Yes we will be recording and sending the big reveal to Disney. Our DS birthday is Nov 3rd so we are throwing him a "surprise" Club Penguin pizza party on Oct 29th where his first present will be what appears to be a clothes box with right there on top of the Disney Shirts I am making will be our large Disney Reservation Info which shows that we are leaving the next morning (his PP is at 7) at 10am for Disney World :)

Great pictures, Liesa!
I'll leave the steeples question to know-it-all Magdalene, just wanted to add that my parents got married at St. Sebald, one more reason for me to love this church!
I also made a note to take pictures of the fabric shop I plan to visit in the next week to shop for new curtains....

I remember that now! I should have included that in my update! Do they weddings there often? What a magnificent place to exchange vows!

REALLy?? You'd do that for me? :goodvibes

That's ok, we have a VERY busy season coming up- stuff ALL weekend, and even into next week. So don't worry, I look forward to your comments, but no rush.

Hmmm.... that IS interesting about the steeples. The quaint little ones in the Northeast US only have one, and in fact, the only really BIG one I can think of with 2 is our National Cathedral in DC? I guess it was just up to the architects?

What a Gorgeous Ginormous German church! :littleangel:

It really was gorgeous! And so peaceful inside. I can totally see myself going there to just be still and know.

If I would have known that I would have gotten a pretzel to! Shoot!

Thank you for the warm welcome. Sarcsam?? who doen't love sarcsam!! I tink I'll fit right in around these parts! Ok now to go and read your next installment!

Just WAIT till you see our pretzels. They were SO guuuuuuuuuuudl, weren't they?

I try to contain myself. Sometimes it works.

Hi Magdelene,

All7ofus:

Lovely pictures! I too love stained glass windows!

These weren't quite as spectacular as I recall the Koln Catherdral's being. Very beautiful , though!! Such a shame it's a dying art!

Well, Mike HAD already endured so much!!!
Pancreas maybe? :confused3

Who needs a pancreas anyways?? :lmao:

That is one NICE set of pipes!!! :thumbsup2 There is a very old church in the town I grew up in that has a very nice pipe organ too! Not as old as this church, obviously, but it does have reminders of the Revolutionary War inside as it was used as a stable for Washington's troops at one time.

What's more impressive to me is someone who can actually PLAY one!! There's like a bazillion buttons and pedals AND keys! :scared1:

Very cool!! I was just at Mt. Vernon, and am on a history kick right now. Love to research that stuff!:thumbsup2

I bet that IS one impressive site in person! :scared1:

Truly- something to be awed by!

What an inspiration this would have to be to any LIVING person who passes by! :worship:

How could it not!?

Oh no, not another highly recommended TR I have to go join in on......:lmao:

He likes sarcasm as much as me- this I likey.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Yeah, you came dangerously close to belittling my spoons with that spork reference!:sad2:

OH no! Not the spoons! I would never disparage anyone's spoons! ;)

No, St Sebald was the church right behind the place where we had lunch (which I think might be featured in the next update from Liesa :rolleyes1) The church I saw with you was St Lorenz (Lawrence in English). :goodvibes

You are right! I plan to present some more weiners next time. This time not horsey sausages. ;)

The pictures of the church are just amazing. I love all the stained glass windows. Stunning!

Wish I could have brought one home for my living room. :rolleyes1

Lisa, I love your apron!
I had absolutely no clue about e and f. :sad2:
I love, love, love your photos of Germany.

THanks! I just wore it yesterday!

OK, time to go back and tally up scores for A-F

I wished the photos could really tell the whole story!

Leisa and Crew sorry about posting that reply to Tammi I didn't realize it would post on the last page so sorry!!

Love the pics of the German Church and as a maker of Stain Glass those pics were incredible thank you!!!

Here's that new apron I finished up a few days ago. We're having fish tonight!!! (Really.) I really like the way it turned out. Of course there are a ton of little oopsies here and there, but overall, I am enjoying wearing the warm colors of autumn as I cook. They make me feel warmer- especially if I have a pumpkin spice candle burning.

You are so stinkin' domestic! :worship: Seriously. Look at you there in your handmade season themed apron, at the stove in a skirt. If I could just get a sample of that domesticity it would certainly make life easier. But all well, thank you Lord for take-out!

Really great job on the apron though, I LOVE the colors, so pretty! My apron (and yes, I do own one!) appropriately has coffee cups all over it!

Sorry to hear about the stresses with Zach. I feel like I've been living in doctor's offices as well lately. Henry has to get his shots for school/daycare, plus I've been in lately for various things (nothing serious), and I still have to get myself and H to the dentist. Joy, joy. I hope it all goes smoothly with Zach and nothing is serious!

I actually KNOW WHERE THAT F IS FROM!!!!!!! It is from: Fairfax Faire in DHS!

Your hotel looks so warm and cozy! And what a relief to finally be a bit settled and the kids have somewhere to puke in peace. Glad to hear that whole ordeal was ending too.

The church is just beautiful - those stain glass windows are amazing!

The Captain's TR is great...I love it. He reminds me of "me" when I had kids his age. :rotfl::rotfl:

You know what's truly frightening??! I have kids that are his kids' ages AND kids YOUR kids' ages!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Andrew posted last night that he LOVES his chem class- he was oxidizing copper last night in lab, and melted the test tube- only to have blue flames squirting all over the place. :scared1:

Heaven help him! :lmao: Well, I guess he still has time for correction........:rolleyes1

:lmao:

No problem whatsoever! Just post, and we'll read. :goodvibes

You're quite diverse in your interests! First it's hedgehogs (with odd mating habits!) and now stained glass!! :thumbsup2

Hmmm.... domesticity or take out? THat doesn't seems too hard to choose. WEll, Ok, I do like a bit of both. I like to cook, and sew- which totally reminds me I have GOT to get busy on that costume that will be a miracle if finished on time.

Really great job on the apron though, I LOVE the colors, so pretty! My apron (and yes, I do own one!) appropriately has coffee cups all over it!

Coffee is good- when I started reading that, I thought you were going to tell me it had coffee stains all over it. :lmao:

I really don't think they are going to find anything. He has been to EVERY kind of specialist out there, and no one has been able to find or diagnose anything. :headache: I hate going, only to spend money with no answers.

I actually KNOW WHERE THAT F IS FROM!!!!!!! It is from: Fairfax Faire in DHS!

You literally made it with seconds to spare on this. I just finished tallying points!!

Your hotel looks so warm and cozy! And what a relief to finally be a bit settled and the kids have somewhere to puke in peace. Glad to hear that whole ordeal was ending too.

Ending?? Really? You think this is ending?? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

The church is just beautiful - those stain glass windows are amazing!

We saw some really amazing things on our trip- you won't believe what I post in 2 installments from now!! Think breastfeeding gone wild. ;)

:lmao:

That's right...you do have kids the ages of Captain's and mine! And your son and my son have the same name.

Too funny that your Andrew melted the test tube. This is something my Markie would do. :rotfl2::rotfl2:
