The 2010 DIS Forum Disneyland Paris Awards - The Results!

Another justified win. Surprised ToT didnt give it more of a run for its money though!

We're getting down to the last few now!

3rd= The Art of Disney, Disney Village (9.5%)
3rd= Harrington’s Fine China & Porcelains, Main ST USA (9.5%)
3rd= The Disney Animation Gallery, Toon Studio (9.5%)
7th= La Confiserie des Trois Fées, Fantasyland (4.8%)
7th= La Chaumière des Sept Nains, Fantasyland (4.8%)
7th= Le Coffre du Capitaine, Adventureland (4.8%)

It just goes to show that as much as I hate that Starbucks took over what used to be the Buffalo Trading Co. in Disney Village, the masses seem to prefer big shops that sell the same stuff as everywhere else and have no theming. I think the World of Disney Store that is opening in July 2012 (so the latest reports suggest) in Disney Village will offer more to the desires of the average visitor than I gave it credit for.

I actually think it’s quite sad that the shops like Le Girafe Curieuse in Adventureland and Tobias Norton & Sons in Frontierland didn’t get a mention and it’s unfortunately a sign of the supermarket society we have become. While these shops may not sell anything particularly unique any more, now that the generic merchandising is park wide, they at least have been themed with some imagination and detail.

Will the 2010 awards run into 2012 :rotfl2:

Joking aside I like the awards and I enjoy reading your blog. Keep up the good work.

I'm surprised by the winner in this category. It's a pretty shop but for me it doesn't offer anything unique.

I much prefer the shop in the castle and the The Art of Disney store in the village.

I was surprised the Frontierland shop didn't score - especially as I thoiught I had voted for it! I think it is beautifully organised and logically laid out unlike some which are a bit chaotic and it has quite a bit of merchandise not found anywhere else. The boutique cast members are also always very helpful and friendly and always say bonjour or bonsoir and smile as you pass by. I like their costume too.

We may just finish before Christmas!

Best Character Interaction

WINNER
Stitch (29.2%)

2nd= Mickey Mouse (16.7%)
2nd= Chip & Dale (16.7%)
4th Minnie Mouse (8.3%)
5th= Captain Hook (4.2%)
5th= Jack Skellington (4.2%)
5th= Daisy Duck (4.2%)
5th= Mr & Mrs Incredible (4.2%)
5th= Pluto (4.2%)
5th= Angel (4.2%)
5th= Tigger (4.2%)

I’ve never been one for going out of my way to meet characters but always enjoy chance meetings that happen as I walk through the park. The photo above was taken in September 2010 and as gentle as Stitch was, my son Lucas still wasn’t keen. I guess to a 2 year old a big blue furry creature is a bit daunting.

I’ll be interested to see how Duffy rates in polls in years to come. While he doesn’t appear to be the most animated of characters, the cuteness factor may see him getting lots of votes.

I did it! A full 12 months on from when voting ended I finally finished announcing the winners. Looking back, it may have been a mistake to not announce them all in one go, this process has been a bit drawn out doing it one category at a time!

I wholeheartedly agree with Pirates of the Caribbean being voted as the best overall attraction in Disneyland Paris, it certainly got my vote. Just looking back at all my photos to get a suitable one for this post made me miss it even more. For me it’s the one ride I try to go to first, which is usually a success, unless I have a bothersome podcast co-host with me.

Thank you to everyone who voted and next time I’ll get the answers out a lot sooner!

Thanks for taking the time to compile this and post it, Steve. :goodvibes

I'll never complain about how long it takes you - if anyone bothers to read my trip reports they'll know how long it takes me to even start them let alone finish them :rotfl: so I really appreciate the effort you make! ::yes::

Will you be running a poll for 2011?

I think I'll call it the 2012 Awards, otherwise it'll sound outdated before I get going!

I wonder if it might be worth waiting until the summer to let the 20th Anniversary celebrations kick in - that may have quite an effect on the results.
