The 2010 Baltic Thread--Cruise Tips and Planning

Okay... back to serious planning here. Sorry I got this off track.

Couple questions:

We are interested in doing the Fat Tire Bike Tour. I have a 9 year old (or she'll be 9 by then). Do you think she can handle it? I was looking at the Royal Palace tour.

We definitely want to do the London Eye. I noticed they had Day or evening tickets. I was wondering when the sun set in the summer? I'm assuming it is daylight longer than where I live. Also, how long does this take to complete? I want to buy the Fast Track tickets so, I don't have to wait in line.

Is it worth it to see Madame Tussauds?

I'll have more but that's it for now.

I prebooked our tickets that included dinner and it was a good deal and it was nice to have the meal paid for in advance. I didn't do the Fast Track tickets, so we had to wait about 30 minutes.

You will find the flight/dinner tickets under packages. We ate a Porter's Pub in Covent Garden and the food was outstanding.

If you have an 8yo boy then I'd suggest the Tower of London. He would probably love the Armory, it's full of weapons and armor that was used on people and on the horses.
My DD loves the TofL and the Armory, she was 8 when we first went there and we had to drag her out of the Armory buidling.

Thanks! We will be in London for 5 days so we are hoping to get to Stonehenge and surrounding areas one of the days. We were in London several years ago so we have that all planned. Just hope there will be a good play while we are there.

I would check the schedule of day trips (called "Explorer Days") offered by London Walks: www.walks.com. I see they go to Salisbury and Stonehenge on several of their winter day trips: http://www.walks.com/Homepage/Cotsw..._____/Stonehenge__Salisbury_Tour/default.aspx. In summer 2010, they will do that tour every Tuesday.

I've done two of their walking tours: the Jack the Ripper tour with Donald Rumbelow, and one that visited the area around the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Both were very good.

I'm not going on DCL's Baltic cruise, but my daughters and I will be in Paris and London before a cruise out of Southampton in June. My younger daughter (22) is in charge of planning our London itinerary. My older daughter (25) is planning our itinerary in Paris, and the first thing she suggested was a bike tour the day we arrive there!
