Just had to pop in to say DH gave the ok to switch the first week of our June 2011 trip to the BC! This will be our 1st stay there and DS (who will be 11) is super excited. His dream Disney trip was a split stay between BC and AKL CL so we could do the Sunrise Safari. Well, we are making his dream a reality! 7nts at BC, 4nts. AKL CL followed by 4nts at RPR at Universal so he can see the new Harry Potter land. I must say, DH and I are pretty psyched ourselves. I will be checking this thread regularly so I can get all of the BC info.

Wow! That sounds like an amazing trip. We're staying at BCV for the first time in August but I'm really interested in checking out AKL at some point. My DH refuses to have a car at Disney and with 3 kids in 2 strollers the buses get pretty old, pretty quickly! And I'm dying to check out Harry Potter!!! (But, again, the car issue...)

Back two weeks from our first stay at the Beach Club. It was just great!
I really love the location of the Beach Club in relation to the International Gateway. We've stayed at YC and BWI before, but this trip seals our favorite Epcot resort as the Beach Club. :lovestruc We really lucked out with a great upgrade. I did not make any room requests for this trip.

Awesome Upgrade:

Well after dropping many thousands of dollars (see my signature below) this decade at WDW and never receiving any upgrades we scored. Big Time. Checking in at about 10pm (had already done the online step before leaving home), the cast member gave us our gold KTTW cards and explained that we had to put them in the card slot in the elevator. She did not explain anything else, she seemed maybe like she was in training or new.
My brain was spinning, I knew they were for the Conciege floor, but we had only booked standard view. I thought there must be some kind of mistake. We went to the room which was indeed on the Concierge floor! :goodvibes Still not believing it we went back down to ask if we were allowed to use the lounge. Another cast member said, yes indeed, we were upgraded! She said that they needed to really swap people around because of being fully booked with a convention, and the only rooms left were on the concierge floor! We had twice paid for concierge rooms in the past, and later decided they might not be worth it for us with our park commando ways and little resort time. Even with the upgrade, we still feel this way, but we'll take the free upgrade anytime! We really didn't even mind the assignment of just about the farthest away room from the elevators, I think it was 5274. They must save these far far away rooms for overbooking. We were happy to have access to the breakfast offerings, but it was always really crowded in the concierge lounge.
We loved our first visit to the Beach Club. We had superior service throughout our stay from all cast members, and excellent housekeeping.:thumbsup2

My jaw just dropped! That is SO awesome!!! Congrats on a well-deserved upgrade and I'm glad you had a nice trip.

The BC has "roasting of marshmallows and making smores" every night on the beach before the movie. The movie is also on the beach. As far as what time it will be is dependent on the recreation schedule for that month. I can't remember what time it is every month.

Thanks so much TeenaS and chanty. I appreicate your help.:flower3::flower3::flower3:

Congrats on such a magical upgrade. Was your view "Garden" or "Water"??

Awesome upgrade teentoddlermom!:cool1: Maybe that late check-in really worked for you!

I was once upgraded at Yacht. I was booked in for a convention into a standard room. Upon check-in I was upgraded to a waterview.:woohoo: I am sooooo seriously NOT complaining, but, because I think it is funny (and ironic) I just have to say that I was one of the furthest rooms away from the elevator as well.:rotfl:

Seriously, I thought I was booked at the Hotel from the Shining walking down those never-ending hallways! Late at nite with no one in the halls (and after a few glasses of wine) I would round about 6-8 corners at the ends of long corridors before hitting my room, and thinking at every turn: "This has to be the last one...I must have walked a mile!":rotfl:

This was a standard view room, 5274. Looking straight ahead was the little waterway in the front of the resort by the front entrance, looking left was a utility area. The view really was rather nice looking straight or right. Lots of greenery and a the nice bit of water. It was a quiet room too, never heard any trucks. Forgot to add how much I liked the newly renovated room. It did not have a day bed, just 2 queens. It had a normal sized balcony.

We were lucky to enjoy such a nice vacation, even though it was more crowded and definitely chillier than I expected.:wave2:

I really can't believe how long those halls are either! I guess I'm so used to all the walking the entire visit to WDW requires, and that fact that we're on vacation, that I can't say I minded too much. But if I was given this as a paid for rack rate room, I might ask if there were anything closer!

Sorry to hijack this thread for a moment, but I know how many TeenaS fans there are on here...
Congratulations to Teena for speedwalking/running with my friend and I in the Princess & The Frog 5k at EPCOT this weekend!:yay:
She was awesome, pretending she was late to an ADR in Japan and speeding her way around the world showcase. And when she saw Mickey and Minnie ahead, you should have seen her run!!!!

This is her, my friend Beth and I at ~6:30 AM waiting for the race to start:

(I know, it's very weird to see her in anything other than her blue Beach Club uniform! And you can't tell from the picture, but she raced in her crocs!)

Here we are at Mile 1 (and we didn't cross the start line immediately after the clocks began, so pay no attention to the time on the sign!!! TEENA IS FAST!!!)

And here we are after crossing the finish line:

We had a fantastic time, and it was made so much better by having Teena there to share in the fun with us!
Congratulations to her for being willing to try something new, and helping us to speed our way along to the finish line!:woohoo:

I was wondering if there was a community room at BCV? My DS enjoyed Kidani playing pool and Wii and SS making ceramics and playing games. I haven't seen anything about it for BCV.

Thanks

No, there isn't. Probably because BCV is a relatively small resort. VWL doesn't have a community room either.

Teena-
We are thinking about doing a photo session when we come in august. Do you know how we set this up? Do we call BC? I tried to pm you a few times, but its not sending for some reason. TIA

oh Zack says hi :)

We are thinking about doing some mini golf on our last day....can we walk to Fantasia Gardens from the Yacht club? It looks like it from the map, but I just wanted to make sure.

You can but be careful crossing Epcot Resorts BLVD or whatever it's called. I think it would be quicker to walk along Crescent Lake to the area between the S & D than to walk all the way along the road. This map might help. Fantasia Gardens is to the left and below the Swan:

Looks on the Resorts Photo Session Thread. There is a phone number for the different resorts. That's how we did it.

GREAT PICS Vanessa!!! Thank you for sharing.
If you don't have any objections, I will make prints and send them to Teena for her photo album. Thanks for your previous contribution of photos.

Give Zack a hug from me please! I'm not sure about how to set it up but I would imagine if you just call the BC and ask to be transferred to the lobby photo pass desk, they will be able to do that.
