BC has a laundry room/building by the quiet pool.

As far as I know it still takes quarters. We are always running to the front desk to get quarters!

:thumbsup2 The past couple of trips I actually went to the bank to get rolls of quarters to bring on the trip. Must do laundry!

It's funny because DH swears I bring more clothes than anyone - yet somehow I still do laundry each trip!

Of course we go in the summer and you know you end up wearing two outfits a day x 5 people x two weeks! One time we stayed at the airport hotel the night before our flight and on the shuttle over the driver asked DH if we were relocating to Florida!

I've spied a laundry room inside the BC too on the first floor. You know how there are a couple doors along the path from BCV to Epcot? Inside one on the right as you enter the BC, there's a laundry room....or at least there was a year or so ago.

We stayed at the Contemporary in December and the laundry rooms used the room keys. It was a short trip so I wasn't expecting to do laundry but there was that vomiting incident on the plane (our youngest) and I found myself in the laundry room. I could use my room key to buy detergent, too. It was much nicer than using quarters so hopefully they'll update all the laundry rooms. (Although this was one of the main reasons we're staying in a one-bedroom villa this time!!!) :thumbsup2

Just booked our annual trip and for the first time, we are going back to a resort. My ds 11 wants to stay at every resort at least once. I thought the plan was to try everyone and then go back to the ones we loved. We had such a great trip last year that we decided to go back to the Beach Club! The only bad part is that we have to wait until Oct!

I was set on my YC CL decision. REally torn between the two but knew balcony was an issue at BC. BUT do all CLUB LEVEL ROOMS have balconies at BC? Or even at CL is this an issue? There are not an updated pics of YC rooms on line at allearsnet so I have to go by the old ones which aren't so hot.I really really like the look o.f the BC rooms. Here are my issues:

1. Really want a balcony with a nice view. If I understand correctly, the view at either resort on club level is a little dicey. either place I could get stuck with a metal roof on garden view. Correct?

2. A spacious lounge we enjoy to eat breakfast in. I adored BWI CL lounge and hoping to imitate that again. YC or BC for that in terms of size?

3. In my opinion from just looking at the resorts, BC seems more geared towards younger kids. DD11.

I really need to nail this down TODAY if I am going to switch. we are there for 5 nights before moving to AKL for a few nights (DD11 favorite resort). someone put me out of my misery!!

I was set on my YC CL decision. REally torn between the two but knew balcony was an issue at BC. BUT do all CLUB LEVEL ROOMS have balconies at BC? Most of them on the fifth floor do have full balconies. I believe there are only two rooms that do not have a full balcony up on five. Or even at CL is this an issue? Correct? Yes, you could get a really ugly roof or parking lot view if you booked a garden/standard view. However, if you switch to a waterview, the views are all pretty darn nice!!

2. A spacious lounge we enjoy to eat breakfast in. I adored BWI CL lounge and hoping to imitate that again. YC or BC for that in terms of size? This is only my opinion, but I love the new BC CL lounge since the renovations.

3. In my opinion from just looking at the resorts, BC seems more geared towards younger kids. DD11. I don't feel this way at all. When we were planning my daughter's wedding, everybody (adults only) choice BC over YC ... it's lighter (I call the YC the dark side ... to me it's a typical convention resort) and more casual and friendly.

I really need to nail this down TODAY if I am going to switch. we are there for 5 nights before moving to AKL for a few nights (DD11 favorite resort). someone put me out of my misery!!

I think you should wait a few hours and get other people's opinions here on this thread. Most have stayed at both the YC and BC and they know the resorts as well as I do. It's all a matter of personal choice. Having the Marketplace and being closer to Epcot is a big plus for the BC too.

Many thanks TEENA! May I ask one last question? do ALL CL rooms at BC have some form of outdoors? even if standing only balcony or are there rooms where it is just a window to look out of with no means opening a door? I asked DD what we loved about BWI so much and she told me that she remembers me STANDING on the BWI balcony a lot and just looking outside. It was hot the week we were there so I wasn't lounging outside with a book or anything but I did STAND.Can I stand on BC CL or is that not even promised? View is more important to me than sitting balcony I am realizing...

We stayed at both BC and YC CL and both are great!

We prefer the light/airy feeling of BC a little bit more and being closer to the BC Marketplace helps. BC Lounge was just redone, I'm not sure about the YC Lounge (although it was fine when we stayed there).

BC is not just kid oriented - when we did our Grand Gathering there were 16 of us from age 3 to 80 and the ALL loved BC!

We were lucky to have nice gv CL rooms at both YC and BC. Unfortunately we can't book a LV CL room at either BC or YC because we're a family of five!

Thanks robin for the input!! What is LV CL view? Do you recall if YC and BC both have the crazy configurations with daybeds? I really want 2 queens instead of a daybed and wondered if YC was easier to accomodate with that. From what IPO told me, YC is now getting a soft rehab. Galley layout still remains - whereas BC got some expansion, YC did not. YC will get new tables, etc. Did you find the lounge at YC congested? I just really adored BWI lounge and if not for SAB would be back at BWI in a heartbeat. I know you stayed in a DEluxe room at BC - but for family of 3 do you think that is worth it? I am thinking we are ok with just the regular room at YC/BC and I prefer the lounge on the 5th floor so DD can run herself there, etc....

How much does the laundry cost? Washers? Dryers? Soap? Softner? We're considering taking those new Purex 3 in 1 sheets. Advice?

If you really want a full balcony - book YC CL. Regarding view - both YC & BC standard view CL you may get a view of a roof. If view is that important book the CL waterview.

2. A spacious lounge we enjoy to eat breakfast in. I adored BWI CL lounge and hoping to imitate that again. YC or BC for that in terms of size?

I think the YC Club lounge is a little larger than the BC Club lounge, maybe the layout is just different, but does appear larger to me.

3. In my opinion from just looking at the resorts, BC seems more geared towards younger kids. DD11.

Both are geared to kids, but BC does have a better proximity with regards to Market Place and Cape May Cafe - yum. However, both are about same distance to SAB which is right in the middle, BC is a little tiny bit closer to Epcot, but not enough to change a decision, I think.

I really need to nail this down TODAY if I am going to switch. we are there for 5 nights before moving to AKL for a few nights (DD11 favorite resort). someone put me out of my misery!!

Hope that helps. Love them both!

Robyn - just saw your response, I opened up response window and walked away from computer....doing laundry!

Was $2.00 per wash and $2.00 per dry cycle. Also, may need more than one dry cycle depending on load size and dryer!

Is it worth the extra money for a water view at Yacht Club? I think we would rather look at water than a parking lot or roof? What are the best locations to request for water view? We would also like to be closest to the Beach Club side of the resort. Are there water views in this section? We have never stayed at Yacht Club before. Our daughter will be at BCV with our grandchildren, how far is the walk? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!

I'm about 99% certain all CL rooms (both waterview and standard/garden) have some sort of balcony (there be two corner rooms at the very end that don't have balconies at all but I'm not sure about that - they have king beds in them though). As I said before, I think there are only a very very few that don't have full balconies. You said view is most important to you so you really should consider changing to CL waterview or you have a real good chance of getting a yucky view if you booked garden/standard CL.

Why not stay at the BC instead of the YC? It's much closer to the BCV.

If you spend lots of time looking out your balcony at the view, then it would be worth it to get a waterview. However, really think about this. It's a good sum more. We've found that when we visited WDW, after spending extra money for a super view, we'd look out for the first ten minutes while we were in the room and go "wow, look at that view". Then the rest of the week we were never in the room except to change clothes, shower or sleep and we had the drapes closed then. So we started booking the cheapest ugliest view and spent the money instead on boat rentals and massages, etc. However, everybody is different. I just found personally I didn't spend enough time in the room looking at the view to justify the extra cost. If I had my mother or father with me and they weren't doing the parks or going to the pool and just wanted to sit on the balcony and read and look at the view, then I would definitely splurge and go for a waterview.

LV is Lagoon view! I didn't find the YC lounge to be too congested. At both BC and YC it could get busy at certain times.

As much as I love the deluxe room I don't think it's worth it for a family of 3. The main reason we like the deluxe room is that we're there for two weeks so it's nice to be able to spread out a little. However, we have done two weeks in a regular room at YC (same size as BC) and it was fine.

If you were going to spend the extra money I woud skip the deluxe room and get a LV CL room. I wish we could get the LV CL room but they will only let you book it if you were a party of 4 or less.

I know when we did our GG at BC CL - three of the rooms only had 3 or 4 people and those rooms all had two queens, no day bed. They were GV CL rooms and had a very nice courtyard view.

GOOD LUCK!

We are staying for the first time this August at the BC. I have a standard room booked, dh really wants a balcony. If I go with a Studio do they ALL have balconies? Is there still daily maid service with the studio? As far as location are the studios closer to Epcot? Thanks for any info. as this is my first trip to the Beach Club!

If you book a studio, it is in the BCV, not the BC. If you pay for it rather than use points, yes, you get daily maid service.

The BC and BCV are both close to Epcot and how close depends on your room. If you were in one of the BCV rooms close to the little lobby there, you would be closer to Epcot than if you were in one of the BC rooms like 3727, etc. However, depending on where your room is in the BC, you could be much closer to Epcot than any room in the BCV. For example, if you are near room 1501, you are practically half way to Epcot.

If you stay at the BC in a standard room, about 40% of them only have a standing balcony, not a full balcony. Some (on the first floor) have patios.
