The 2009 U2 Thread - No Line On The Horizon Album & Tour

12 days to go!!!! :cool1:

What is this "red zone" some of you speak of?

Red Zone tickets are offered via an auction that U2 is running--they have blocked off sections on the floor on the outside of the pit, left and right sides (middle was left for general admission). You could bid what you thought the tickets were worth. Proceeds go to the Red charity, which was founded to fight/prevent HIV in Africa.

As promised, here are pictures from last night's show, with my other camera. We were in Red Zone 2, Adam's side, last night.

Fantastic pictures!

My son and I were at the opening night show in Chicago Sept 12th. It was great. Better than any of their previous concerts in my opinion. Has anyone seen the video on Facebook where they shot the concert venue from the CN tower? It's pretty cool.

Hi everyone!

Well Sunday and Monday were exhausting but awesome! We got the pit both nights. Sunday's show was great but I thought Monday's was much better. The band was so energetic and the crowd seemed much more into it Monday night. I have pictures to share and I'll try to get to it later today.

We got an email from Gillette saying you wouldn't be let in the parking lot until 3 but that was wrong. Actually when we got there around 1 the first parking attendant turned us away but we made a u-turn back into the lot and another attendant let us in b/c we had field seating (GA's).

We got in the GA line on Sunday at 1:30. We were let in around 5:45 and they came on at 9. We were standing for almost 10 1/2 hours that day. The bracelet procedure was kind of crazy but was a bit better on Monday. Show ended a little after 11 and we didn't get home until 2:15. Was in bed by 2:30 and up at 6:30 on Monday, very tired! We headed back to Foxboro in the afternoon and were back in the GA line at 4:15ish. We were let in again around 5:45. It was another long day but we only had to stand around 7 hours this time. ;) We got home around 2am but it was all worth it!

Red Zone update: the Red Zone has really good views. We arrived around 6 PM and got a spot on the rail. The pit looked really crowded last night, more crowded than I remember the heart and the ellipse being in prior tours. There are bench seats in the Red Zone area if you want to rest while waiting for the show to start. One bummer is that the bathrooms are porta potties, YUCK! During the show you have acccess to the stadium for regular bathrooms, concessions, etc, but after the show they would not let us up. The Red Zone has its own concessions and retail stand. Here are a couple of pictures. I just had my tiny powershot with me last night. We have Red Zone again tonight and I am bringing my better camera, so I might have some nicer shots to share tomorrow.

Monday night the pit was jam packed. It seemed more crowded that it was when we were in the ellipse last tour. They let too many people in. And people just kept going in and coming back in. It was crazy. My husband was all set with GA on Sunday and said he didn't want to do it Monday. My 2 brother had tickets for Monday's show and my husband switched tickets with one of my brothers so my husband took a seat and my brother came in GA with me. On Monday there was a couple in the pit that had 3 kids with them. They looked to be around 10 years old, 5 and 4ish. The little ones were really small. I can't believe anyone would bring a child that young/small into a contained and crowded area like that.

Yeah, it definitely looked too crowded. We were in the ellipse last tour and the heart the tour before that for all of the Boston dates (and the other New England dates!), and it was never ever close to that crowded. One possible factor was that the Red Zone people had full access to the pit. We never went in since we had awesome spots on the rail, but I know other Red Zone people were going back and forth.

I saw those kids on Monday night too. They were up on some guy's back at one point which is why they caught my attention. I just assumed they were related to one of the bands or the crew in some capacity.

Thanks!

And all the pics I've seen on the last few pages are awesome!!

We went to last nights concert at Giants stadium. All I have to say is WOW! what a great show. Muse was fantastic! U2 of course were great as usual. We arrived early so the parking wasn't an issue for us. Lot's of people tailgating. They didn't open the gates until 6pm. Muse started playing around 7:30pm and U2 around 9pm till about 11pm. The "claw" is amazing in person. Bono sounded great and they played my 2 all time favorite songs, New Years Day and With or Without you so I was very happy! They did 2 encores so stay until the "house" lights come back on if you are going to tonights show.

We have a set of tickets to the DC show that we can't seem to get rid of. We have tried Criagslist, stubhub, bulletin boards, etc. Anyone have any other ideas?

We used Amex concierge to make sure we got tickets and also ended up getting a pair through ticketmaster now we seem to be stuck with them. We really can't afford to eat the money right now either. :(

If I was in DC I would take them off your hands. Good luck selling them.

wvjules - Can you post ads on bulletins boards at work? If you have Facebook, try posting in your status and hopefully your friends will spread the word. The show looks to be sold out so I'm guessing people will be looking for tickets in the next couple of days.

I cannot post anything for sale at work. :(

I hope someone buys them soon. I'm starting to panic.

Are you a u2.com member? There is a message boards there and they have a ticket thread where you can buy, sell or trade tickets. We are members and I believe it cost about $40 to join.

Thanks for the tip. I am a member of u2.com so I just posted them there. Hopefully something will come of it.

Have you tried Ebay yet? You could also list them on U2wire.com and U2tours.com. Both sites have mailing lists that go out daily where people can list tickets for sale. Just make sure you include an email address for someone to contact you at since they don't like to clutter up the list with back and forth ticket stuff. Hope you sell them soon!

I got an email this morning from U2.com with new European dates for 2010! They will be hitting places they missed this time around next August and September. Fingers crossed that they add more in the US too!
