The 2009 American Idol Thread....

I thought she was 20 years old. Maybe I read her "bio" at the bottom of the screen wrong though. It was definitely a gimmick, but I thought it was a cheap one. Classless, IMO.

I liked Steve (named after Stevie Nicks) & another girl that was on earlier in the show - but I don't think it was Barracuda girl (was she the girl with the tattoos & gauges in her ears?) I thought there was another young girl - very pretty - only 16 I believe.

She was 20, you're right. And she was cheap looking. Tacky and desperate.

I liked the Simony girl she

Poor Ryan he didn't know how to handle bikini girl LOL
I liked the oil worker guy

I think the blind guy is going to make it really far

I like the new judge she seems to spunky

We liked Stevie so far and then there was the other younger 16 year old girl who kinda resembled Vanessa Hugens. She seemed very sweet and when she sang it was like no effort at all. :)

It really seemed like the 16 yo's dominated. There was alot of them and they could really sing.

The 16 year old girl was the one in a pink shirt with a pink cowboy hat, right? She's a huge fan of the new judge and brought along a book of the songs she had written. I do agree with what Kara said though.... for a 16 year old to have a book of songs that thick, it shows alot of motivation but her voice isn't ready for a competition. She didn't sing as bad as I would have, but she can still work on it. Now..... the barracuda girl rocked my socks. She was awesome. I think it's awesome that her mom gave up her singing career to raise a daughter. Good role model I think. We only watch the auditions in my house. Once they get to Hollywood, we'll switch the tv to something else.

The blind guy was very good, not the best. I hope he can get coached so his voice can improve. I also hope that they don
t play the pitty card. Sure, he's blind, but other than that... he's like everyone else. I don't want them to go easy on him or be hard on him because of his vision.

K, with that said... I'm out. I wouldn't want to get banned or something for chatting in a non chatting thread. I'm not sure I could go on with my day if that was to happen.

The 16 yo that looked like Vanessa Hudgens... was she the one that started Grand Friends... going into retirement communities to keep the older residents company... I loved her. Sweet, Great Voice and Very Cute.

I knew I left someone off...yes she was fantastic as well! The girl in the pink needs ritalin or something. She might have some promise in a few years but she needs some major maturity to take place before she'll ever be taken seriously.

Another fan of stevie and Emily the pink haired rocker chick! I hope Bikini girl gets knocked down a few pegs in Hollywood.

Yes that was the one we liked! I just can not remember her name. :guilty:

I thought I liked the new judge too until her very (w)itchy comment regarding her little fan. The girl in the pink cowboy hat? I thought she was adorable. Kara was gracious to the girl's face and then as soon as the girl stepped out she said something like "that's a fan of mine, so what does that say about me?" (with an added eyeroll)

Wanted to like the rocker girl, but I can't even look at those ear gauges, it makes me so queezy.

I saw a photo of the girl in the bikini in a news report -- not at all cheap looking, tacky or desperate. It looks like she was interested in getting face time with the judges. She got it. That's smart. And she got a ticket to Hollywood. Smart and successful. That doesn't mean she'll go far, or that other characteristics about her won't get in the way, but this smart, successful tactic she used isn't one of them.

I liked Alex -- the smart kid. Wasn't really impressed with the vision-impaired guy. Pink cowboy hat fan girl was scary. Liked the Stevie girl and the senior citizens girl.

I really like Kara, the new judge. She's current and knows her stuff.

Yes, bikini girl has shown us a great lesson we can all teach our young daughters, nieces, cousins, granddaughters, etc......

If you don't have the talent or skill to do something, just use sex appeal and it will get you one step closer.

I didn't get to watch: :sad1: But my DD and DH said she wasn't very good.

Is there anywhere online to watch it? I have to work Tuesaday nights, and decided it's not in my best interest to quit my job to watch idol, though I contemplated it! lol :lmao: . I'm new to the whole tv online thing (in fact, I've never watched a tv show online) so I wasn't sure if there is a place for idol or not.

You think she figured that out herself? You give her a lot more credit than is due. I suspect, rather, she actually learned that from the society we, her elder generation, have collectively crafted for her to live in and learn from. By the same token, I'm not sure I'd want to live in a society where everyone walks around draped from the top of their heads to the bottom of their feet, so that's not the answer. Rather, I suspect the answer rests more with not getting so bothered about visible skin. If people didn't have wearing a bathing suit bother them, then the reasons to do it would probably have more to do with enjoying the air than with sex.

Yes, that was the other one. She was the one that started Grand Friends, as someone else pointed out. She was very good.

American Idol 8 - Idol Chatter and Idle Chatter Official Thread

Back On-Topic...
Bikini girl was ok (got face-time, got through to Hollywood), *but* she was absolutely stupid to kiss Ryan. That is probably so much against the rules. If she's willing to do a full-on kiss on-camera, what happens when the cameras aren't around :rolleyes1 ? I think the producers will keep her around for sheer entertainment value, but kick her to the curb before the end of Hollywood Week (and before Vote for the Worst gets a hold of her).

agnes!

You really think walking around in a swimsuit when not at the pool or a beach is appropriate behaver because our society has turned into a trash-fest?

I think you're going a bit extreme. The next step up from walking around in a swimsuit is not covering up from head to toe. That is the complete opposite end of the spectrum which isn't good either.

Since this isn't the chatty thread...I'm going to stop now. Sorry for the OT chatter.

I think that the concern about it feeds the incidence of the activity, and is more damaging than the activity itself.

I think you're going a bit extreme.
Not at all. If anything, quite the opposite: I don't think it is good or horrible, while some folks are choosing to paint it using very prejudicial words, "cheap looking", "tacky" and "desperate". That's extreme. I'm "extremely" indifferent towards it.

This isn't OT. This is talking about something that happened on the show. If you head over to the chatty thread, you'll see that they actually chat about what's going on in their lives outside the context of the show.
