The 2008 American Idol Thread.....

I had picked Micheal Johns as one of my favorites but I really didn't like him tonight. I thought he came off as phony, fake and full of himself. And he's lived in the US for the past 10 years...why keep up the pretense of an accent?

Overall I was pretty unimpressed with the guys tonight. Most of them were really boring and forgettable. I do remember Danny Norieva, the Dreads guy, the young David and the fake rocker guy wearing the bandana - hope to see more of them.

I was also disappointed with Luke Menard. I watched his youtube acapella performances and thought he would perform much better.

i don't get your accent comment at all. there's plenty of people who live in other countries for decades and still have really thick accents.

i DID forget 10 of them. i'm kind of happy about that. all i remember from the rest of them was one of them wearing a bright orange suit....

oh yeah.....see....i forgot about that one too!! lol. i'm still going to say Ace with the tight pants was much better. everytime i see some guy wearing tight pants on the show, i'm going to bring up Ace, just so you all know.

I agree.

I'm not sure I understand the "pretense" of an accent. He spoke with a mostly American accent, but certain words were more accented than others. I think that's irrelevant, honestly.

I also wish they didn't do a theme night so soon. I think at this early stage, they really should let them pick music they're comfortable singing.

The only one I remember is Michael Johns . Everyone else is a blur

Well I admit that Danny is more memorable for being openly gay (or at least acting like it) than for his Elvis rendition. I like Danny's personality. There was just something about Mike that seemed insincere to me. He looks good, I like rock, I like the Doors - for some reason it just didn't work for me. Maybe I'll like him better next week?

I was surprised at Jason Castro. He was really good for someone we haven't seen much of. I'm a Michael Johns fan, but I agree he's appeared to come off as cocky (and there's a difference between confidence and cocky).

I don't find Michael Johns cocky at all. I think he has a lot of confidence, probably because he's 29 and not 17. Wasn't Jordan Sparks 17; they never really said how old she was.

That's exactly what I said. Something about his mannerisms, too. If he'd just cut that terrible hair....

I'm not saying who I liked best. I seem to always jinx the people I say should stay. I'm more comfortable saying who should go, but tonight there were quite a few that didn't impress me much. I'm hoping it was just an off night.

I like David A, Jason and Michael. Danny was good too but his "I'm all that" attitude is gonna get annoying.

OK, Garrett was a kid that walked in off the street, his family was on vacation. He's going up against the polished pros in this season. Some of these guys have been on TV, had recording contracts. I wish they would have worked with him a bit, I think he's got a good voice. I felt bad for him.

I felt bad for Garrett too. his voice was nice. but when simon said he needed fresh air and he looked ghostly i felt really bad for him!
