The 100% Original POFQ FAQ

we were in building 2 and there was no fridge, but we were told to ring Housekeeping and they would bring one - we did and they brought one very quickly and there was no charge

We were at POFQ last weekend (Nov. 5-8) and had three rooms. The two rooms that were courtyard view, second floor of building three had fridges but the standard view, first floor room in the same building did not.

The ladies staying in the non-fridge room were told it would be $10/day for the fridge. I told them they almost always waived the fee but they didn't really need one. From talking to folks in the hot tub and around the resort it sounded like most rooms had the fridges.

Hello! I found this thread this afternoon! LOVE IT! Out of all the moderate resorts I always thought that French Quarter sounded like something we would like to try. But so far we have always stayed at Deluxe resorts. We are crazy - and have decided to leave in 15 days for Disney World! My travel agent was able to get me an AP rate of $79 a night at French Quarter. I couldn't be more excited. Has anyone ever been there for Christmas?

BTW, I take lots and lots of photos so when I come back I will update!

What a great FAQ site. I have found all the answers to all my questions. It looks as if they are in the process of adding fridges to all rooms but haven't quite done it yet. I was glad to read about smoking/non-smoking rooms. I just assumed that if I requested non-smoking that I'd get it. I now know that I have to make an additional phone call to guarantee it as DS has asthma. Keep posting!!!! princess:

HI all!
Anyone recently back? Whats the status of fridges? This will be our first time at POFQ and would like a room close to food court and parking. What do you think?

Also, do is faxing still the best way to room request?
Anne

we had a fridge last month - it wasn't int he room, but we rang housekeeping and they brought one free of charge. We saw them unloading loads of fridges from trucks in the parking lto while we were there.
we were in building 2, room 2101 and thought it was a perfect spot.

We had a fridge in place - we were in Building 5.

I remember at one point folks were saying NOT to fax room requests anymore. Is this still true? Opinions welcome!
Anne

We had a fridge already in its own enclosure a couple weeks ago. At checkin, had requested fridge, and within 10 minutes of being in room, they brought another fridge to us. We were in corner room 4135 - thought it was a great location!

Our trip is getting closer and closer...
Any feedback on how to request rooms...fax or call?

Thanks!
Anne

I never faxed requests - I had noted on my reservation that I wanted first floor. Once I got there, they assigned me a room. I asked if it was a corner room, which it was not. The CM did some research and got me a first floor, corner room overlooking the courtyard.

I have read over and over on this site, especially from Cast Members themselves...that faxes are not accepted.

My best advice is the same as the above poster...call a CM at CRO, (not the hotel directly) You may make a request, but it's not a gaurantee. They are as accomodating as possible and will adjust your ressie at your time of check in whenever possible.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!!

Those of you that have stayed at POFQ would you request a ground level room or one of the upper floors...and why? Thanks

Anne

I'm sure this has been asked, but I just want to get the most recent info---which building (and/or floors) are smoking. DS has asthma and I want to make sure that we are not placed anywhere near smoking. He's been having a rough time with it lately and is really looking forward to this vacation. I don't want anything to spoil it. Thank you for any info you can forward. princess:

drizzo67- DS3 has asthma too. When I made the reservation- I told them this and the gave me a guaranteed non-smoking room, not just listed as a request. We were in building 3 and it was great! Also, it was warm when we were there, Dec. 5-11. DS had been sick, but the great Fl air helped a lot. He did great and didn't have to have a nebulizer treatment the whole time!!! Good luck! princess:

I'm not sure which buildings are smoking buildings.

We requested a ground floor b/c we had two strollers. We had room 4135 and couldn't have had a prettier view of the courtyard. It was also a corner room, which was very nice. I know the buildings have elevators... we just found it more convenient to be on the first floor. It also was literally only a couple minutes to the food court which was nice.

I prefer a ground floor room because of convenience - but we also have a child in a stroller, without the stroller it would be less of an issue. People have commented that they prefer the 3rd floor because there is less passing traffic but to be honest, it wasn't an issue for us and we never heard anyone above us, so ground floor was perfect.

LuvsTink- I think the upstairs floors are the best. We got one right on the edge of the river, and we were close to the pool. The view of the river boat going up and back was great, as well as the horse and carriage rides going by in the evening, made for the perfect place to just stand and watch life go by. I don't have kids though.

I will say there are elevators for those times when your feet just wont go up the stairs. :earboy2:
