The 100% Original POFQ FAQ

I have been trying to locate this info through Thread search and researching Portorleans.org website -- as well as allearsnet.com, but I am still not sure I understand. I am trying to figure out where my kids (DS7 and DD5) will sleep if we book a King room at POFQ. I am assuming that there is no pull out couch and it appears that a Trundle is limited to POR. Can I request cots or bring a twin blow up mattress??? Any thoughts? I can not imagine sleeping a double bed for over a week!!

Disney won't allow a family of 4 in a King bed room. You will have to do with 2 double beds and yes, a trundle is limited to POR and for a family of 5. No pull out couch.

It doesn't sound like a moderate hotel is what you need. You have to stay at a deluxe in order to get 2 queen beds.

Do you think the POFQ rooms will get a rehab soon ?
I have read some bad reports - rugs with stains, paint cips on the walls, scrathes on the furniture.
Are the rooms that bad ?
Any rumors of a rehab at POFQ ?

Not sure about those reports.. my family and I were there last August (and by the way liked it so much that we're going back therer again this August). but found theh room to be very nice. It is patterned carpet, so you would have to really be INSPECTING pretty close to notice stains on the rug (unless it was REALLY OBVIOUS).

On another note, while waiting for the rest of the family to get ready, my DW watched the staff at POFQ COMPLETELY makeover a room that must have been TRASHEd by the previous occupant. Paint, new headboard, mattress etc. Not sure what kind of knuckleheads were there before but staff made every effort to improve the situation for the next family.

Other than the air conditioner I did hear from a CM friend of mine that there was a smaller rehab. I don't know just what it involved. Maybe they were painting and such to the former smoking designated rooms?

What kind of air conditioner units does POFQ have? I remember reading about some hotels having a unit that does not cool if you're not around so you walk into a hot hotel room after a day at the parks and something about buying a balloon to trick the sensor...does POFQ have one of these, or can you adjust the temp as you wish?

I have never had a issue with the air at any of the resorts and we have stayed in Value and Deluxe and even the FW cabins. Now, we have never stayed in a Moderate, but I am sure theirs isn't much different. I always set it according to my level of comfort and I have never had it cut off and when we leave the room it is for severl hours at a time and I run it all night.

okay, I finally purchased plane tickets and officially changed my date away from Columbus Day week to the week before! I called reservations to update my info and was able to still get my king bed. Now my questions will probably start to come pouring in as my excitement is over the top at this moment! I have been planning this trip for almost two years, been through a divorce and am finally going to take my dream vacation with my DD! I can't wait to stay at POFQ.

Now a few technical questions: When do you receive all of your travel documents from WDW? Does all of the magical express info and baggage tickets come together? Do you usually call before you leave to make sure all of your info is ok and in the system? When (and where) do you call if you want to request a building?

Thanks a bunch, please add in any info that a first timer should be aware of as this will be my first trip to WDW! A funny sidenote: I finally told DD about our exciting trip and she barely batted an eye...at this point, this trip is all about me, but I'm hoping that she'll share my excitement once we get there! Thanks for listening to me babble everyone! :cloud9:

Plent of yogurt in the cafe.

Could you let me know if the POFQ food court now does a make-your-own pasta option like Riverside does? Someone asked me for confirmation (I added it to my site as it's mentioned on Disney's own info, but not sure how accurate that is). Thanks!

Andre

Not sure why you wanted a King Bed room for the two of you? Wouldn't two double beds make more sense? Just curious.

I actually have a king bed at home and it's what I'm used to. I'm not very comfortable in a smaller bed! I also figured it's me and my little peanut and it's our first trip together and she's used to bedrails at home so I figured I would be a bedrail on one side, and I could put pillows on the other :)

Hi lissiesmum. My DD and I are doing the same thing. We'll have a king bed and I'll be the bedrail on one side and use pillows (or may just get one rail) for the other. She tends to sleep ON me anyway when she gets to have sleepovers when DH is out of town, so we make it fun. Hope you have a GREAT time. We plan too :)

I'm glad you have the same idea! Makes sense to me!

At one time I saw some links to some neat unofficial POFQ websites, but I can't seem to locate them now. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Oh well, I guess I will survive-- Hey, I'll be at Disney and that is all that matters!! Thanks for the info.

Smoondancer,

You will end up with two double beds, but plenty of people have bought a twin air matress and made do just fine. I'm bringing one myself this trip! Have a good time! :goodvibes

You'll receive 2 separate mailings. One will be your itinerary and stuff. The other will be a separate Disney's Magical Express mailing that has a DME bookelt and your DME luggage tags; DME luggage tags are yellow sticky paper that's pre-printed with your necessary personal information. Like I said, they will arrive separately, but will both come 4-6 weels (or so) before your trip.

Did you book yourself or through a travel agent? If though a TA, he/she will receive all the documents, and then will get them to you (or you'll need to go get them).

To request a building? Call 407-W-DISNEY if you booked yourself, or contact your travel agent if you used one. If you used a TA to book your resort, Disney won't discuss your resort reservation with you, and won't permit you to make any changes, since the TA "owns" the reservation until you actually check-in at the front desk.

When I was there last month there was no make-your-own pasta. There was a roasted chicken choice as well as quesadillas and some other items. There were biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
