I read someone you can cash personal checks up to a certain amt per day, i think maybe $100.00. Is this true and has anyone done at POFQ? if so i am thinking of just doing this when i need cash vs. bringing travelers checks. Not going to use the ATM's at parks because i think they are run by Chase and dont want to incur insane ATM fees all week.

I don't believe that you can cash checks anymore at WDW. If I'm wrong someone please correct me. You could always get a gift card from the Disney Store and preload it.

I do believe it is possible to use your ATM card to put $ on the room for charging. But I'm not personally comfortable having a card attached to my KTTW. What if I accidentally lose it.

Hi we just returned from 14 nights at French Quarter today, so I wanted to give a quick review to help anyone who is considering the resort. We (just DH and me) LOVED it!! The room was a nice size, more than enough room for us two. We were in building 3, literally a two minute walk from reception, food court, shop, pool and carpark. It was just under a 10 minute pleasant stroll to Riverside. The foodcourt and pool at Riverside are both slightly bigger but we much preferred the compact, cosy feeling of FQ. It was so easy to get around. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant. Mousekeeping were adequate . . . she did the basics but not much else. Disappointingly not one single towel animal . . . I know you're not supposed to expect one, but I did think with the law of averages we might get at least one in 14 nights! A couple of times she forgot to refill shampoo and cups, but that was nothing that couldn't be sorted straight away.

Can't comment on buses as we used the car all the time, but did get the boat to DTD one evening and this was an efficient service, and a lovely jouney. We only waited a couple of minutes each time for the boat to arrive.

And the beignets are as good as everyone says, but also try the magic cookie bars at Riverside . . . ohhh so good!!!!!

I'm glad to hear you had a great time at my favorite resort.

Then it's governed by the rules of your bank. With most banks, customers aren't responsible for fraudulent charges done if the loss/theft is reported.

Your credit card information itself is not on the KTTW card's magnetic strip. Rather, there's just a meaningless code that requires the Great Disney Computer to then access the spending power of the credit/debit card.

In other words, if you lose the KTTW card, someone could find it and use it on Disney property until the card is reported lost (or until the room charge maximum limit is reached). But there's no way someone could lift info from the card and access your charge/checking account out in the outside world.

And if your bank is like almost all of them out there, you won't be responsible for anything the finder/thief spends, anyway.

On the other hand, if you lose a $50 bill, you're out 50 bucks. Therefore, strictly in terms of losing your spending medium, give me a lost card over lost cash any day!!!

In our last two stays at a deluxe totaling 20 days we saw one. Prior to that in 12 days at a moderate we had 7!!! I guess it's just plain luck and maybe the mood of the mousekeeper.:rotfl:

Does any one know the street address so I can mapquest the directions?

I have a few questions (please forgive me if they have been asked and answered before).

1. Is a king room a room type or just a request?

2. Are there elevators?

3. Which building(s) are closest to the food court?

We were all set on booking CBR (as that is where we stayed last year), but my mom likes the look of POFQ.

I can say that there are elevators. I have stayed at CBR and POFQ, and while CBR is nice, I really enjoyed POFQ much better. It is much smaller and compact, the theming is lovely, there are carriage rides in the evening, and the boat ride to DTD is especially nice at night. Given the choice, I think I would go with POFQ before choosing CBR.

As a recent first time POFQ visitor, I would second all of this. We really enjoyed CBR when we stayed there last August, but our vote now goes for POFQ as our favorite spot.

We just returned earlier this month from a 7 night stay there, and it is truly a lovely resort. It is now or first choice for staying on site, and we will probably be booking there again next year for out trip.

Agree! We didn't think much of CBR, but absolutely loved POFQ this month.

We were in block 3, 2 minute walk from the foodcourt, shop, pool. Would defo ask to stay there again

OMG, I am going Thursday and you guys are really getting me excited.

A king rm is a type, in fact at all the mods it's and extra charge.

Thanks for all the replies.

That is what I thought. Unfortunately, the king rooms don't come up for our date range and my parents wanted a king room. I'll keep checking.

Disney Goes Smoke Free
Friday, June 01, 2007 4:13:50 PM

A smoking ban kicks into effect Friday at all 22 Walt Disney World hotels.

The policy also applies to all Disney Vacation Club Resorts.

Disney says they're making the change because of guest demand for non-smoking rooms.

The new policy applies to all guest rooms, patios and balconies and designates outdoor smoking areas at all resorts affected by the change.

Smoking is still allowed in the theme and water park, in designated smoking areas only.

I didn't wade thru the 140 pages of postings to see how many times this FAQ was updated. Makes me wonder what else in the FAQ is outdated. Wish there was a Wiki...
