 We have Verizon and have never had a problem-some friends, who have other service carriers, have had trouble in the parks.

:)

I have Verizon and have been very happy, but, when I'm out of my area all calls seem to be sent straight to my mailbox.

We have had Celluar one for the passed few years and never had a problem, not at the hotels or at the parks. Cell one has now become AT & T. I laugh because 8 years ago, we used walkie talkies to communicate and that was a horror. I love having my phone with me now, never a problem... AND I also now take a picture with my camera phone every day of DD, so I never have to wonder what she was wearing that day if she is lost!:goodvibes

Oh my goodness, wasn't it something trying to use walkie talkies in the parks!! :scared1: That brings back so many funny memories of people breaking in on your conversation. :rotfl:

I don't know if this helps or not, but when we get off the plane I always dial *228. I wait till I hear the message saying your phone as been updated. That's what verizon told me to do when traveling out of our area.

I knew that!

But it never crosses my mind at that time.

Thanks,

Does anyone know how the cell phone reception is at POFQ and the parks?:listen:

Cingular/AT&T: CSR no problem at all. CBR- had to stand outside room to get reception. In parks -- just fine.

Won't use the walkie talkies again -- they were pretty much impossible to use last year due to too many people talking. It was a good thought however.

We are staying a POFQ in Sept. for free dining for our honeymoon. We are in a standard room, any suggestions as to which building would be best to stay in. We would like one near the food court, and one that is quiet. Also, do you call ahead of time to request a room or just wait until you get there? Oh and does anyone know if they have a steam service available for garments?? Thanks!

What's on tap at the Mardi Grogs Pool Bar?:cool1:

Does the Mardi Grogs Pool Bar or anywhere in WDW serve Ice Cream Drinks with real ice cream (Mudslides and others)? :cool1:

I Just love doing the Happy Dance.:cool1:

Does anyone know how the cell phone reception is at POFQ and the parks?:listen:

I have Verizon and have never had problems with reception in the parks except inside the Living Seas but I did have problems inside my room at POFQ & Pop. It was frustrating because it is hard to hear anywhere in the parks-always some sort of background noise. I was at Pop 2 weeks ago with just my youngest and would call my DH as we were walking to the room and tell him to call us on the room phone as we have free long distance at home. It was a bit of a challenge trying to send photos home from my phone as I was too busy to do it in the park, couldn't really do it on the busses because I was holding DD's stroller and I couldn't do it from the room because the reception was too poor.

POFQ is beautiful, compact, & quiet. We stayed in building 3 and it was less then a 5 minute walk to the food court/pool as well as far enough away to be very peaceful.

POFQ is a very romantic resort IMHO you choose a great resort to honeymoon. :lovestruc

I have AT&T and my oldest has Virgin Mobile. We would just text each other while in the parks since neither one of us could hear to talk on the phone! At POR I had good reception in the room, and even called my parents while on the boat to DTD.

I read someone you can cash personal checks up to a certain amt per day, i think maybe $100.00. Is this true and has anyone done at POFQ? if so i am thinking of just doing this when i need cash vs. bringing travelers checks. Not going to use the ATM's at parks because i think they are run by Chase and dont want to incur insane ATM fees all week.

I second Building 3 as well. We have stayed here 3 times and always get Building 3 love it:goodvibes Have a great trip

Thank you for the coffee update. I was afraid of that... Oh, well, I'll have to toss a package of filters, coffee beans and grinder to my WDW box! Then I can fill up my mug with Diet Coke, instead.
Verizon for us, too. No problem with reception at all, except for during 9/11 when lines were busy for a while.
Is it wrong to be so excited you can't sleep, and your trip is still over 9 months out?!
Another question: Is the $1000 limit to your KTTW card per room or per reservation? It has never been an issue staying in deluxe, but I want to make sure we won't have to bring anything else to the parks with us, like before. I love using my KTTW card for everything! That is why we are doing POFQ instead of the less expensive SoG. No KTTW card or DDP at SoG!

The $1,000 limit is per credit card, so if you have two rooms with different credit cards logged for each, I assume you'll get two limits? The limits are higher in deluxes by the way.

Don't forget that you can pay off the outstanding balance at the Front Desk using your credit card at any time, they just won't let you amass a total unpaid balance of over $1,000. You can even hand over cash at the Front Desk to set up a pre-paid account for your room if you don't want to use a credit card at all (any remaining balance will be paid back at the end of your stay).

I know the resort has towels for the pool.

What about the water parks?:confused3

Do we need to bring our own?:confused3

Yes, you will need to bring your own towels to the water parks -- although they do rent them for something like a dollar a towel. However, they are about the same size of the towels at the hotel so you might as well just bring some from there.

I requested building 4 as I read it was close to bus stops and parking lot and not to far from the pool and food area. Was that right?

Thank you, Andre! I'll just have to have them charge it to the card every couple of days. I just charge everything onto my card while we are on vacation, then transfer the payment to the card when we get home. I'll just bring two cards, just in case. I don't like to worry about anything while on vacation except having a great time!

During check-in, they'll ask if you want to set up a room charge. If yes, they will set it at the default upper limit of $1,000. You can back it up with a credit card, debit card, cash, travelers checks, or even Disney Dollars.

They will swipe your card to make sure it's active, but you won't yet be charged and there will be no hold. Your card won't get charged until one of the 2 following things occurs: you reach your $1,000 room charge limit; or it's about 3:00 a.m. on your check-out day. If you reach the limit during your trip, your card automatically gets charged. You can then, if you wish, call or go to the front desk and set up a new room charge account.

You are NOT limited to $1,000 for the whole trip, and you DO NOT need to periodically pay it down as it approaches $1,000. That would be a big waste of time if it's all going to be on the same credit card, anyway.
