Count me in!! Cant wait to hear more!!
Yay, thanks for joining in!
I am in!!!!! Can't wait to hear more.
Welcome!
I like waking up early on the day we leave for Florida too. That's mainly because we usually drive, so I actually WANT to be tired so I can sleep for a bit once in the car! Too bad I can't really sleep for longer than an hour at a time anymore. It's just too uncomfortable. I miss the days of being really small and being able to curl into a very comfortable position.
Haha, how great that you saw a student! I was afraid to see students right and left when we were in the parks. I ended up not seeing anyone, which I'm grateful for because how do I say to parents, "Oh this is so-and-so" when introducing Howard without using his real name?!? The kids still don't know his real name, and I'd like to keep it that way. It's more fun! Of course, that'll change when we get married next May, haha.
I love the beginnings of trips!
I'm the same way on the plane. I try to sleep but it must be a combination of not being comfortable/being excited that I just can't. Even coming home on Saturday when I was exhausted I was in and out of sleep.
I'm surprised I didn't see more people when we were there. It sounds like a couple teachers where there too and I'm sure more families from the schools. But I guess it's good. That would be kind of weird!
I also love getting to Disney early, on our last trip we made it to Disney really early and we had practically a whole extra day. And even though I don't look for magical express tags we do play the "who is going to Disney" game. It really is soooooooo much fun and is a easy way to pass the time. I can't wait to hear about what you guys do for your traditional first day. For us we always visit Epcot and tour the world showcase and watch illuminations. This year since we had a lot of time we decided to do Disney Studios first and then go to Epcot for illuminations later. I enjoyed the switch-up alot.
That's what's so nice about getting there early. With the 7:30 flights we're there by noon and can go to a park right away. So much fun to just jump right into the magic.
I love having the early morning flight too but I find leaving late morning or early afternoon is ok too!! I love arrival day!!!
Me too!
I'll take your word that it's exciting getting up before the sun rises-guess I'll find out for myself in 6 months and 3 days!
Ugh. Lake effect snow. Enough said.
No, you aren't the only one who plays the Magical Express tag game.
How was the body scan thing? I think Buffalo has them, and I'm a little nervous!
I have a love-hate relationship with the Southwest boarding system. I realized for the October trip that I'll have to get up super early the day before we fly to check us in.
Do I sense some Chick-Fil-A coming up?
LOL, trust me, it's much more tolerable knowing you're going to Disney!
OK good, glad I'm not the only one who plays the tag game.
The body scan was fine. They just told us to put our arms up (kind of like we were criminals or something, haha) and it was done in probably 2 seconds.
It's not a big deal to us since we're older but it is a pain when there are all these families with small kids who want to sit together and then they make everyone move so they can. Why not just assign seats?
Yucky snow but at least you left it behind! When we left it was 75 degrees but when we came back it was in the 30s ugh! Yummy Chick Fil A yum yum yum!!!
Ugh, it was the same for us...sunny and warm when we left and we came home to clouds and cold.
me 2! I just realized as i was replying to Rachelninja that the feeling of just arriving in Disney is one of my happy places thatI can go to if i'm feeling stressed or upset or anything like that. I love florida sooooo much! Everything about that first day (except for the traveling part) is so magical for me.
Agreed!
Even though this isn't my thread, I am still going to say I totally empathies with you on the weather changes. Are you from the midwest 2? I'm from chicago so I know a fair amount about fluctuating weather. Just yesterday it was practically 70 degrees farenhiet (sorry I can't spell) outside and today it is in the 40's. I hate chicago weather sooooooo much. I feel like screaming make up you mind everyday it does that. Chicago actually had snowfall while we were in Disney back in January. It does feel good to leave it all behind.
I will say that coming from the midwest, atleast it's nice to come home in April and knowing that warmer weather is right around the corner. In Dec/Jan. you still have the whole winter ahead of you. Yuck.
Ahhh I love the beginning of Disney trips! I'm getting excited just reading your update
Haha I totally play the Magical Express tag game too. I love finding out where people are staying. I'm a little scared of the body scans. Last time I flew was in November, and the NY airports didn't have them yet. I'll have to ask my sister for an update when she gets back from Fort Lauderdale tomorrow.
I know, the beginning of a trip is so awesome. Love when TRs just start, whether they're mine or someone else's. Although it's much better experiencing it live than reliving it (does that make any sense?!) it's still fun sharing.
The body scan was weird but nothing too terrible. Just kind of creepy.
Personal weatherman, travel coordinator, and DVC points provider here.
I know Sarah is a little jealous because her Mom, other sister, and I spent March 12-18 at the Beach Club Villas and the weather could not have been nicer- sunny and upper 70's to low 80's every day. But, I tried to tell her that at least they had 6 full days on their trip (we had 5) so they still had 4 good days of weather.
I told Sarah that I should do my own trip report, but I usually just comment on hers.
I found myself enjoying her trip vicariously as I checked the weather and lines reports while I made suggestions for things they could do in the various conditions. Maybe I missed my calling as a trip planner.
Yes, you should do a TR. Maybe we both missed our calling as trip planners.
Ahhhh gotta love the lake effect snow! I've seen snow in May even!

Oh and when is it going to warm up here KWIM??

I'm ready for Spring!
I hear ya. Hopefully spring is right around the corner.

for leaving the snow and arriving in Orlando!!
Yup, even though the snow was probably gone by the next day. Stilll good to leave cold weather behind.
