That Pirate Stole My Tiara: The Pre-Trip Report

You SHOULD be packing yours right now! Only TEN DAYS!!!

I have to pace myself -- otherwise, everything would be completely packed tonight, and I would be forced to sit on my suitcases and tap my foot for the next 226 hours (yes, I did just figure out how many hours before I leave :)).

Hurray for the awesome flight!!!

Well, said outlets have this lovely lil' store called the Rocky Mountain Candy Co.

We used to have one of those at our outlet mall, but they closed up. :( I guess my family was the only one buying their goodies... :confused3 My weakness was the chocolate covered marshmallows. Mmmmm... :yay:

Congrats on your new luggage, and more importantly, your airline tickets!!! Now it seems even more official!

Denise

Good news - the days of the "cattle call" are in the past. Now when you check in (preferrably on-line 24 hours in advance) you will get a letter and # assigned to you, which is the order you will board the plane. But you can still pick any seat you want. It is much better if you ask me. :thumbsup2

I knew about getting the letter grouping but the number grouping is new to me. I'm of the old school days when you got to the gate and then sat as close to the boarding area as possible so that when they called your letter you could clothesline people to get as close as possible to the front of the line.

Awww...you had a moment. Like when I went to Costco and bought fat-free frozen yogurt twist and pretended it was a Dole Whip. Aren't those pretend Diseny moments the best? Well, not actually the best, because being in Disney would be the best...but...oh carp...you get the idea.

Totally get you.

I mean really, get your priorities in order! Spa & Lapu Lapu Fest. What better way to start your vacation than with pretty toes and totally sloshed?

Well, really I can only think of a couple more items that would make that sentence perfect:
1. rich
2. Captain Jack Sparrow

YEAH!! YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEYWORLD!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, thanks so much for the heads-up on the SW rates. It was sheer curiosity from your post that led me there.

Though, I have to admit reading about your procuring your flight made me do this :scared: because I still haven't booked. We all know how OCD I am and it makes me absolutely nutso that I haven't booked flight yet. :headache:

I wouldn't worry too much. I have to say that for both the Boston and Providence markets, the flights have been hovering between $99 and $150 each way. That's not too bad and is, for the most part, pretty normal for my past flights, though pre-gas-costs-$42-per-gallon-times, I was usually able to get a SW deal out of Providence for $49-69 each way.

Ahh, the good old days.

I have to say that the best deal on airfare I ever got was to Cali. My friend and I went to LA in August of 2002, when the travel industry was scraping the post-9/11 dredges. We booked direct flights from Providence to LAX with a 'Friends Fly Free' deal for $200 RT for BOTH of us. Yes, that means we each paid $100 to fly RT to Cali. Amazing. And likely, extinct in these times.

I love the new suitcase and congrats on the flight!

Thanks! I looked at that suitcase in a whole new light last night when I got home, knowing it now had a "reserved" spot to go to Disney.

NINE DAYS for you! Could you pack, like, one suitcase per day? You know, just to keep temptation at bay?

And totally hooray for the awesome flight! It was the exact times I was looking for and everything!

Mmmm. I snagged one of these for myself not too long ago. De-lish! I don't know if any of it travels well, but I'd be happy to pick something up for you and send it on.

Congrats on your new luggage, and more importantly, your airline tickets!!! Now it seems even more official!

You're right. It does! ::yes::

Sorry, no time for quotes, but it sounds like everything is lining up nicely! And about time, too, right?

This is actually one of the last "big" things I needed to get before my trip (the new luggage, not the apple, though I'm not saying the apple wasn't a "big" thing...I mean I made a meal of the thing). The only other big ticket items I need to get are:
1. airfare (still a thorn in my proverbial side and I refuse to discuss it today)
2. appointments for the spa (which can't be made until the proverbial thorn is removed from my proverbial side and the airfare is booked. Proverbially.)
3. the Photopass CD (I need to talk to Missy about this one. I'm totally prepared to shoulder the cost for this myself, but I want to see if she wants to split it first. I know this can wait until just before the trip to be done.)

I was destined to read this lil post as it served to remind me. And when I hang with the DISers there's 'always something there to remind me.'

With the upcoming trip to POR less than a month away the wheels are really starting to turn. :moped: DW has been a good camper and set up her trip to the GF spa so that's set. The certificates were obtained back in March for the birthday and have been patiently waiting in a desk drawer to unleash some serious relax-fu.

That said... I am seriously dawdling. Must take care of the multi-family photopass (read-Grandparents, Sister's fam, and us). Thanks for the mental Mickey Bar-to-the-head. Must do that. Must do that now, before - huh, look at that, another update to the food pr0n thread.

Oh wait... the trip. Photopass, right. Can't wait. True enough, POR is hardly the Poly. That said, we will soon be in The World. And, despite what James Bond might have us believe... The World IS enough. ::yes:: :woohoo: ::yes::

Ok, so I'm working on the next update and I have a question that hadn't yet occurred to me. This one is for all of you savvy Dining Plan Pros out there.

So, we're on the regular dining plan, which does not include alcoholic beverages or appetizers. But in a few cases we're going to want to order an appetizer to split and in almost all cases, we'll be getting a drink. How do they work this out in terms of the bill? We can still order both and pay OOP, right?

I know you're a busy lady. I'm just glad to know you're here.

there's 'always something there to remind me.'

Thanks for that. I was all lost today without having a song stuck in my head.

I would actually rather go to the spa at the Dolphin. The atmosphere is more my speed. But with the GF spa within walking distance and someone to rub my legs and feet, this chick is not complaining. I'm going to pay for Missy's pedi as part of her birthday present.

Must do that now, before - huh, look at that, another update to the food pr0n thread.

Yeah...that one is totally ADD-worthy, no?

Only a month to go! How exciting for you! And believe me, while the Poly is a dream come true for me that I didn't expect to be able to experience until I had won the lottery (still waiting on that one), I would happily stay anywhere in the World.

Except maybe a certain bathroom.

In Canada.

Congrats on the new bag. It's very, very cute. I always love bags that don't look like the 1000's of plain black bags you see out there.

That's a good price for the flight too. I've been watching the prices for my flights and they keep creeping up. Very scary. I'm insanely jealous though of the $100 flight to CA. I've had Disneyland on the brain lately, and was thinking of doing it next year for vacation, but the flights are sooo expensive. (What is wrong with me though? I haven't even gone on this year's trip and I'm planning a trip for 2009. Seriously my Disney addiction is getting bad. )

That's not a problem at all. Several times last year my bff and I would order drinks with our meals while on the plan. They will just bring you separate receipts for the meal plan stuff, and the non meal plan stuff. (You might get 3 different ones with an appetizer and then drinks).

Alright I learned something today. Well, scratch that.

I learned a lot of things today.

But one that totally pertains to you.

I was reading a trip report and

I had to tell you this.

Did you know that when you stay at the Poly you can order Tonga Toast as room service and have it waiting for you in all its yummy glorious goodness when you wake up in the morning?

Yup. I know you love me. You're welcome.::yes::

I would like to introduce y'all to TONGA GODDESS TK.

Seriously, this is the best news I've heard all day. Despite the fact that room service is usually exorbiant and I won't use 2 TS credits for it on the DP, I might just be willing to pay OOP for it...especially since Missy isn't a huge breakfast person. Then we could use those TS credits for something else...hmmm...

For any of you out there that might have eaten at Kona for breakfast and had the oft-revered Tonga Toast for breakfast either from Captain Cooks or room service, since I'm traveling with someone who isn't a big breakfast person, I was thinking of canceling the Kona breakfast ressie and enjoying the TT from one of the other two places and maybe trying Kona for dinner instead one night. I'm also interested to hear what y'all might have to say about O'hana vs. Kona for dinner.

I'm now in a quandry.

Commence discussion.

:flower3:

I am going to give you my opinion, based upon my love of the food porn thread. :cloud9: I have made a dinner ressie for Kona because I absolutely drooled over all the pictures of food I have seen, and all of the reviews I have read have been very positive. So...the LL clan(can a clan be just two people?) is going twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. I am very much looking forward to both. I think you should order the tonga toast a la room service and have lunch or dinner at Kona. :goodvibes

Goddess...temptress...who's keeping track? ;)

Alright, don't laugh...

well, okay go ahead...

when I found this out I seriously considered upgrading.:rotfl2:

You know what, hon? I've actually pondered the same thing. I really wanted to sit down at Kona Cafe to have the TT, but I thought...well...if I get it from Captain Cook's, then that's one more table service I can use. So I'm in the same boat and of absolutely no assistance. Nice, huh?;)

Because I'm an early riser and Missy tends to be a sleeper, I'm thinking about canceling the Kona breakfast ressie and have the TT from Cook's and using the open ressie for somewhere else (but where? :confused3 dunno yet). And then, on top of that, I'm thinking about changing our O'hana to a Kona for dinner the night of Lapu Lapu Fest.

We'll see. It depends on when, where and if I can fit in another TS ressie.

when I found this out I seriously considered upgrading.:rotfl2:

No comment. Due to the fact that I will further spend your stimulus check. And mine. And LL's. And LL's DF's. So that we can all be at the Poly at the same time.

It's genetic. ;)

I want to be at the Poly at the same time :(.

Think they would notice if I took a week off of school just when it is starting again? ;)

Oh that stimulus check is soooooo gone. This would be a savings dip. Not good...tonga toast....yummy....not good, not good!!!!!

Oooh! And Jackie too! And all of the other people I'm forgetting! Let's have a Poly trip! All of us!

Would we not have a blast???

Party like Pirates!!! party:

I want to party like a pirate!

Wait a minute, I will be.

Strike that.

I want everybody else to come party like pirates too!!!!! ::yes::

I'm in for the Poly trip!! Woo Hoo!! Too bad the stimulas check is long gone, and then some. :headache:

Poly 2009? ;)
