That Mickey sure is one smart cookie!! May 2011 CBR TR (update 08/13)

Wow, what a great story! I can see how it wouldn't be what you would want on your wedding day, but I bet it's funny now.:rotfl:

Friday, May 13th cont.

I had hoped to lay on the hammocks but they were soaked. The sun had gone down by now.

This was James' first experience with sand. He was in my belly during our last trip to the beach. At first, he wasn't too sure about it- he thought it was wierd in between his toes. But he quickly decided it was okay and joined the rest of us.

About that time a little girl came up with her grandmother. She introduced herself to Maya as Emily. She was probably close to 8? First they shared cartwheel techniques. Then Emily showed her how to build a sandcastle using wet sand and your hands.

Then I had another proud mommy moment.

"Emily, this is my little brother James. He's only 2, but would you mind if he helped us?".

Emily didn't mind at all, so Maya called her brother over and showed him what to do.

I turned to see what Chris thought of the sweet exchange. Wait- where was Chris?

That little snot had snuck off for some pool time- as in swimming on your own, not getting splashed and not carrying a toddler pool time. While he deserved it for going along with everything on the vacation, I can't deny I was jealous!

The kids continued building their castle until they were ready for the flag.

About that time, Emily's mom showed up. It was time for us to get in the pool too, so we said our goodbyes and moved on.

If you remember earlier in the week, Maya was quite nervous in the pool. She more or less had to be coaxed in. Well, this was not the case today. She found another new friend and got extremely brave. She swam all over. Shallow end, deep end. She dunked her head and swam on her back. Both Maya and the other little girl had in swim vests, and apparently they felt they were invincible. James also got brave and stood by himself on the steps. He floated on his back with assistance.

All of a sudden, we heard a small bang. And then a little boom. We could see the fireworks from Illuminations in the shallow end of the Jamaica pool! It was the perfect viewing spot for my currently scared of loud noises son!

After a while, Chris took James back to the room to dry off. Maya and I played a while. She watched some older girls jump in and decided it looked fun! She had to try it. Again. And Again. And again.

She got out of the pool to jump again, but all of a sudden she took off running.

"Maya, where are you going?"

"I've got to go poopy!"

"but you don't know where are room is from here!"

Luckily my daughter isn't too shy, because we got quite a few giggles from the others in the pool area. A nice woman stood up and walked her to where the pool restroom was. I dried off and went to check on Maya. Her tummy was upset, and she wanted to go back to the room. She ended up laying down for the night right after her bath.

James was still wired, so I took him with me to do two loads of laundry next to our quiet pool. In case anyone was wondering, it is $2 per load. We then headed over to OPR to fill the mugs.

I took James back to the room before going back to check on the laundry. I moved chris' stuff to the dryer, along with the underwear. I took the rest of the stuff back to the room to hang dry. I had not brought my stain treating arsenal- only blue dawn. But it proved a bit difficult in the small amount of space in that room. I was glad I only had one load!

By the time I had hung those up, the other load was dry. I retrieved those and then joined my family in bed. We watched the Grizzlies win before getting ready for bed. But first, I had to strip the covers off the bed. The room was still not cooling. We would have called maintenance then but we didn't want to keep the kids up. It didn't keep any of us from falling right to sleep.

Wow, what a great story! I can see how it wouldn't be what you would want on your wedding day, but I bet it's funny now.:rotfl:

It was pretty funny then too! Luckily, one of the main goals of having the wedding there was to make it low key:lmao:
That was not the only intersting part of the day. I swear the lady that married us was a character from Saturday night live! But, it's a day i'll never forget, that is for sure! I would not trade a minute of it!

Cute pictures of the kids playing on the beach. It is always amazing to me how kids can make friends so easily.

Wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy for adults too! But grownups are often too caught up with insecurities and stereotypes etc. Makes you wonder howany friendships you missed out on by not letting your guard down.

That is so sweet that she wanted to include her brother!

They all look like they were having fun making their castle!! Swimming sounds fun too!!!

That is so neat you could see the fireworks! pixiedust:

No kidding! Adult friendships are so complicated and much of the time very superficial.

Yes, it was great to see the fireworks from there!

I always love it when they get along so well. They either can't get enough of each other, or can't get far enough away form each other:lmao:

Very True! If only i could talk someone into running my errands and cleaning my house- then i'd have much more time for my close friends!

Ha! this report has 407 replies... as if i need another thing to getr Disney on the mind. :lmao:

410 now! LOL!

Yeah, I guess my post would have made more sense if the 407th comment was the 407th post... Didn't think that one through all the way. My thought was actually just that anytime I hear 407 I think 407-w-Disney
(or 407-wdw-dine or 407- wdw-play etc)

Last few photopass pics that i need to catch up on-
these are from Epcot, Day 3.

First i have a couple of the topiaries.

This photo session was a perfect example of why i suggested to take multiple shots in similar locations. James was not the focus in this oddly set up set. He is this tiny little speck in the bottom corner. I had to crop these prints very close to make him larger than an ant :lmao: made most of the borders look odd. still got some decent shots out of the crops, but i'm not sure what the photographer was thinking!

Saturday, May 14th

Today was our scheduled sleep in day. I woke up at 7 and tried to go back to sleep till 8. I decided to go to OPR to get some coffee. The in room coffemaker was noisy! My legs were stiff, and perhaps a bit swollen, so I decided I'd take my time. And I'd take the camera along.

It felt like I was taking a ton of pictures, but looking through them, I should have taken more. (and I should have taken new batteries. These were low!)

I'm going to take you on a tour from my room- across the bridge through Caribbean Cay to OPR.

It was really busy inside. I didn't even attempt to take any pictures inside. I did glare at all the plates of hot breakfast foods. I was hoping that my family would wake up starving and we could come for some ourselves. Those omelet smelled great! I noticed that breakfast was served until 11am. Plenty of time!

There were tons of people refiling mugs. They had some really cute mug designs in the past :rotfl2:

I sat in the DSA Courtyard for a while. I went back to the room about 9. Everyone else had woken up, and they found another letter. This one invited us to eat dinner with Cinderella and family at 1900 Park Faire!

1900_Park_Fare__Dinner_Invitat.jpg

I asked Maya if she wanted to go get some breakfast.

"No thank you momma- did you forget your promise ?"

She reminded me that I had told her that on sleep in day, she could choose whatever she wanted for breakfast. And she didn't want eggs or French toast. She wanted worms in dirt!

Why not! It's only one day, and it's vacation!

Our gameplan for the day was to hang around and explore the resort, and later head over to the MK to eat dinner at GF and see the Main Street Electrical Parade. We sat around until almost 10 am, and then got ready for the morning's activities.

Finally all caught up!

Maya is such the poser on those elephants -- she is too cute!

I'm glad to see pics of the characters RPW. I like the "trees" in the background.

Rafriki and James photo is JUST adorable!!

I also love the photo of cinderella and Maya with their eyes closed hugging each other.

You got some truly wonderful photos!!

Too cool that you saw the turtle operation and that PP updated you on the recovery.

I know you didn't take that Illuminateions photo but that is truly magnificent!

Love the Tink and Terence photos. That's the first time I got to see Terence. Every time we went to get in line, it was way to long or they had already cut it off.

Your resort is beautiful! Love the playing in the sand photos and all the landscaping.

worms in dirt -- yummy! So did she get some? where?

LOL, it was thea "th" that threw me off. Glad you explained.

Those tents in the backround really add to the feel of Neverland in the picture. I had never noticed that walking by them!

Love that Maya included James to play in the sand. Makes me jealous! Grumpy rarely includes Anakin in anything. Though I know it's tough on a 17 year old living with someone with ASD 24/7. Homeschooling puts them in much closer proximity daily.

Your photopass pics are great! I have really been spending a lot of time with ours since we got home. I don't think I really used the zoom option to crop our pics in the past...but I am this time.

Thanks for the tour of CBR!

You are welcome! i don't see much about CBR, but i think its a nice resort! i'd stay there again, for sure!

fair warning- zooming and/or cutting people and characters out is addicting:lmao:

they are starting to really test me at home. they really like to argue lately, especially over toys. you would think that the gender and age difference would help but not so much. i do find that the more time they spend together the worse it gets. but, i will say that Maya has his back and is very proud to be his sister, even if she doesn't always show it.

I would think it would be hard on Grumpy as a teen. but i bet as he ages and matures, they will become good friends! once he is a parent he will understand better for sure!

Thanks for all the compliments on the photos! We had some great character moments this trip, that's for sure.

We have seen terrance both times we have been to see Tink. We are hoping that she is paired with someone different next time. The line was crazy though. They were halfway through lining up for the second session before they even officially opened for the first session. It would be great if they eventually got a fast pass too! (and woody/jessie- they need one also)

CBR is pretty. I can't help but think of how gorgeous it would be at the peak of the spring season, when all the pretty flowers are popping up.

she did get the worms in dirt- she had picked them out the night before for dessert at the CS place at CBR, and she had saved it in the mini fridge.
