That Mickey sure is one smart cookie!! May 2011 CBR TR (update 08/13)

Good for her and liking kindergarten & the 2nd tooth. My DD begins Kindergarten on September 15...:goodvibes :sad1: at the same time. I am hoping she adjusts well...I think it will be a big shock at the lack of playtime...especially the fact that she didn't go to preschool :scared1: Leah's 2nd tooth is loose too, wonder if it will fall out in Disney only 10 more days and we'll be there...that would be so awesome if it did, we could say Tink is leaving her the money...lol

:rotfl: Glad the kindergarten transition is going well!

I keep telling her she is way to young to have so much drama! She is goign to keep me on my toes, that's for sure.

It's really strange saying i have a child in school. This is only day 3, so i'm sure i'll get used to it eventually. But right now it's hard having to accept that she is growing more and more independent by the day. Its also hard adjusting to the schedule. we are late night people, due to Chris and I's work schedule. I'm the first one home, and that's at 6:30. There is a lot of stuff to get done between then and bedtime. We are struggling to fit it all in. I'm sure it will get easier once we are used to the routine. We have to leave the house at 6:40, so i've been going in to work early after dropping her off at school. I hope to be able to move my work times up to that i can get out 30 minutes or an hour earlier, but that is unknown so far.

I'm sure your dd will do great. they will all be nervous and excited, so she'll fit right in.

That would be really neat if she lost her tooth at WDW! You should print up a letter to take with you just in case. We actually have no idea where Maya lost hers. We were grocery shopping, and she was playing her game where she grabs a random product and asks people if they'd like to try one as they walk by. one of those random people pointed out that the tooth was missing. we had just looked at it the night before, so it could be at my house, my moms, or at the grocery. The tooth fairy wrote her a note saying she found the tooth, and said thanks for letting her borrow her paper and pencil because there wasn't any room left in her tiny pockets to bring her own!

Here are a few more Photopass photos from MK May 11th.

I have a few left to post from the Epcot day i already reported on.

Oh my word! Maya is a hoot! I think that is all so cute! My husband would be just like yours though! :lmao:

I love all of your photopass pictures! I just pre-ordered the cd for our upcoming trip! From all of your pictures I think it will be totally worth it!!!!

I have just spent the better part of the afternoon and early evening reading your trip report! What FUN!! I have loved every bit of it and cannot wait to read more! James reminds me so much of my Jane...curly hair and all!
We used to live in Collierville, Tn before moving to Oklahoma, so I loved having that southern connection with you too!

so glad you joined us! it was a really fun trip and i'm so glad we got to go! thanks for the compliments!
i agree with you- Jane made me think of James too. Collierville isn't too far from here. too bad you aren't still here. we could get James and Jane together and see what sort of trouble they could cause together in preschool :lmao:
So you've been enjoying 105+ degrees too then i guess? nothing like temperatures and humidity so high you need a bath after walking to your mailbox!

Chris has said before that he wished he had been a cop so he could follow her on dates! While i think that is extreme, i do understand that it is scary to think of her growing up. i know i was a good kid and still did many things i would cringe if my kid did them.

i definitely think the photo pass is worth it when you have infrequent trips!

I like Maya's marraige story :goodvibes

She has such an imagination!

What awesome pics! That James I could just squeeze the cheeks...love'em. The pic you like of him is ADORABLE. You are lucky Maya chats it up with the Princesses, Leah just smiles and grabs for me or daddy. That is an awesome idea about printing up the letter just in case she loses her tooth...I am going to do that on my break. OMG I feel rushed getting home at 4:30 and getting things done & still having play time, cleaning etc. I couldn't imagine 6:30..hopefully you can change your work hours. I on the other hand am going to have to move mine back to accomodate Leah's school..so I probably will be getting home around 5:15-5:30...can't wait we have only 9 more days then at WDW :cool1:

maya is definitely social! Chris and I wonder where she got it from, because neither of us really are. James started out really shy and reserved, but over the past 6 months or so, he's seen Maya's nature and all the attention it gets her, and he's realy opening up.
6:30 worked in the past because we had late nights and late-ish mornings. My boss is pretty old fashioned, so i hope this gets worked out. what time will Leah's school start? you'll have to make sure to let me know how she does! i can't believe you are in single digits! that deserves a dance!

I have been following along but have no idea when I have actually posted last.

I love, love, love Maya's cake. Your DH did a great job:thumbsup2

The transition to having a kid in kindergarten is tough. I loved having Caitlin in preschool where I could pick her up at noon if I got off work early or call her out if I had a day off. I didn't love her being gone all day but now that she is going into 2nd grade and has been home all summer I am counting down the days until she goes back. I love having her home but miss the days of going grocery shopping without a little voice asking to buy something in every aisle.

Friday May 13th cont.

James woke up and we continued on our search for food. It was too hot for a full lunch, but we were all starting to get a bit grumpy in the heat. We first ended up with our standby snack- the slushie. This time it was blue raspberry, coke, and lemonade. Chris chose the lemonade for him, but ended up giving it to James when he begged for it. Again, they were about $4 each but we used snack credits.

We took our drinks to Andupar local foods and got a Honey chicken with rice meal to share. I chose water for the drink and a frozen lemonade for the dessert (for Chris). I also paid out of pocket for one eggroll $2. I was surprised by the amount of food stuffed into that takeout box. It was a great portion for all 4 of us to snack on that hot day.

borrowed picture. Thanks if it's yours

I will say that if you are afraid of birds, this is not the place to eat! They were begging everywhere to the point of being annoying. We were ducking our heads as they were flying from table to table.

Our moods shifted with the food and refreshment! We were now ready to brave the river’s rapids!

I was glad that we grabbed a fastpass earlier, because they were now gone.

We grabbed our babyswap, and Chris and Maya were on their way.

"bye momma, hope I'm really wet the next time I see you"

James and I passed the time by watching the monkeys.

Well, she got her wish. She came back and she was pretty darn wet. If there was a wet rating, I'd give her a 4 out of 5. She was happy and ready to go again.

"come on momma, I want to get wet again!".

After seeing her, I grabbed a pancho. While I wanted to cool off, I wasn't sure I wanted to walk around with wet britches the rest of the day. We got to our raft and our seats were soaked. The pancho would be useless for protecting my bottom, so I packed it in the dry pocket and decided to just enjoy it.

Both Maya and I got our wishes. Every splash was aimed for us. She got soaked again, but I was not as bad. It was enough to cool me off for the rest of the day, but not enough to make me uncomfortable by having to walk around in wet pants.

Maya begged me to ride again. I told her we couldn't. We only had one FP left and the FP were out for the day.

"that's okay Momma. I'm 5 & 3/4. Disney let me use my money and buy things by myself. Surely they will let me ride by myself". :lmao:

I didn't have the heart to explain that Disney (or most any business) isn't going to turn down money no matter the age. So instead I just told her that we needed to be fair and go find something James can ride too.

James and Chris had spent the waiting time by watching a little water spout on the ground. I could see in James eyes that he thought this looked intriguing. Before anyone could ask what I was doing, I grabbed James from the stroller and set him next to the water. Why should he be the only one left out from a cooling splash of water? There is no doubt in my mind that this was his favorite attraction of the day. He would try to catch it coming out of the ground, then try to catch it coming out of the wall. And back and forth and back and forth. Just giggling the whole time.

People were walking by him pointing and laughing. Maya couldn't stand the temptation. She had to join in.

I have to admit I was tempted to jump in too. They certainly made it look fun!

Yay, finally James found something he can enjoy. He looks so happy playing in the water.

Your meal looks very yummy. Frozen lemonade and slushies seem to be perfect in AK since it always seems so hot there.

I like Maya's headband, too. I'm glad she's having a good time at kindergarten.

James looks like he's having a great time splashing. It's nice that he found a place to cool down, too.

Kali is so fun!!! I'm with you...I like to get wet and cool off, but I don't want to be uncomfortable the rest of the day.

Splashing in the little fountain is super fun!!! :cool1:

oK..I've caught up "completely" with The Maya-&-James Show! :thumbsup2
REALLY very enjoyable!...I'd probably melt the server if I posted every comment that passed through my wee brain. :headache:
Most of my kids are quite older than M-&-J, (youngest DD is 11 now), but Our 13 y/o son is Autistic, and may never outgrow many of the greatest WDW charms, specifically the characters! I took several THOUSAND photos last December, and my favorites are the interactions with the characters.
Tusker House was great! We have our ADR lined up there, (plus quite a few of the same ones y'all went to).
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your family with us! :goodvibes

Those water sprouts are fun for the kids and adults...they are great entertainment for the little ones when we need a break. Leah's school starts at 8:30 so for the first few days/week(s) I will take her..then my mom will bring her for me once she is comfortable and not going to beg to stay home:lmao:

Its a little rough, but she's enjoying. She was used to walking through the halls at preschool and people calling out to her from every room to tell her hello. its hard on me now because i know its the beginning of the end of mommy knowing best LOL.

although, a little peace and quiet at the store sounds grand:goodvibes

I'm not sure if they put that fountain there on purpose, but it was so nice for the under 40" crowd to have something nearby!

That sort of thing is why i love Disney. Where else can you entertain an infant, a toddler, a preschooler, a school age, etc all at the same time?

she seems to be adjusting pretty well to KK. she's been asking me to go to bed early though.

8:30 sounds like a good time for me. Do you think she'll beg to stay home? It's nice that you have your mom nearby to help out.

I love your idea- next time i need to sit and rest for a minute i'll just find a water spout!

We are scheduled to hit the "North Side" of Orlando the second week of Dec.-(got a GREAT pin code from the nice folks at HRH!):goodvibes -and then take advantage of the "Free Le Cellier" about 10 times the next week-and-a-half! (well, maybe just a coupla LCs, but many other spots too!) Character meals hafta account for several TS meals, just for "The Boy"! He rarely eats anything during the Character meals, he is just WAY too worked up! He is already brushing up on You Tube Parades and Hidden Mickeys! ;)
