I'd like to thank Dan Murphy for the beautiful tribute he put on the boards to honor my mother. You'd never know by his beautiful words that he never met my family. Thank you Dan.
The past week and a half have been the most difficult that I've ever had to go through. It's seems that ever since I received that awful phone call tell me about the accident in Chile I've been jumping hurdles ever since. From having to kiss my kids goodbye and begin my journey down to Chile...to being told, as we pulled up to the curb at the airport, that Dad was coming home and we didn't need to get on the plane....to finally getting to our dad while dodging news crews and reporters (cnn, inside edition, local newspapers ets) to having to prepare a funeral for my mother.
This past week I've had hundreds of friends and family members walk through my door some I haven't seen in 20 years. Now my house remains empty except for me and my dad. He's going in for surgery on his broken leg and hopefully that will make him a bit more comfortable.
We're taking each day as they come and we're trying to put one foot in front of the other. Sometimes we stumble and fall and other times we can keep up a good pace. But knowing that mom always taught us to be strong, we're trying to every way that we can.
