Hi-We're out in Florida for my Daughters 8th b/day and are thinking of taking her to TGI'S for the evening(seaworld in the day)-has anyone been to a TGI'S in Florida and if so would you reccomend or not. Many thanks in advance

I was in TGI's at Crossroads, LBV, the week before last and the service was a bit slow. I just enquired why it was (others who had come in after us were being served) and that brought the manager over, full of apologies. Seems they had got our order wrong. He insisted we have a dessert on the house, gave me his card and assured us of his best attention in future. Wow. And I wasn't even making a fuss :D

I tell you that just to let you know I thought it was a pretty good response. And the food was decent too.

Nearby a man was celebrating his birthday and the staff were tying balloons all over him.

I hope you have a good celebration wherever you choose.

We ate in the TGI Fridays on the 192 last year. The food is very similar to the ones in this country. If you really want to eat at this restaurant you should have a great time.

Sorry to say this but Tgi's is about the worst of the middle market eateries in the US just like McDonalds is about the worst Burger chain.

If you ask about you will certainly get some better recomendations than TGI's.:(

Hello

We love TGI's in this country and really enjoyed the Friday's on the 192 near Splendid China - my only observation is that after going to TGI's over here (which IMO is very USA themed) we found the US version to be much less American than those in the UK. Hope that make sense!

The service was fine - not spectacular, but nothing wrong with it either.

However the menu was really really extensive and we enjoyed our meal there - and the cocktails were amazing!!:teeth: :teeth:

....and if your daughter likes TGI's then I'm sure she'll enjoy.

I think it's true to say there are better restuarants out in Florida of similar ilk to TGI's but I know kids and they know what they like and at least you and she know what you'll be getting from TGI's.

I never go into any restaurant or fast food eatery out there that I could go into back here but I'm travelling with my nephews next year and I know they can't wait to go into what they class as a "real" McDonalds and I'll be happy to take them there as it's there holiday as well - I'll just suck it up ;)

..... we have eaten at the TGIF at the Crossroads a few times - I like the bleeper they give you to return when a table is free (actually it vibrates :) !!)

We liked it :)

We like TGIs, can't understand why you'd say it was the worst middle eatery Metalguru, although I agree that McDs isn't up to much in the US.

I've been to both TGI's on the 192, and those on I-Drive and at the Crossroads.

I found the service and quality of food at all 4 very good, never had a complaint about anything.

The only TGI's I'v ever been to that I didn't like/enjoy the food was in NY City - the staff didn't give a rats, and the food was moderate at best.

Yes, as mentioned, there are equally good, even better restaurants you could go to, but I like TGI's and I'm sure your daughter will have a greaat time at any of the TGI's in Orlando/Kissimmee.

Well thats my opinion and we don't care!!!!
Been to lots both East and West, given them the benefit of my doubts but no I don't like em!

If other people like em well all well and good but there are far better ones out there.

Been to the LBV area for the last 5 years - and have tried most of the dining options available in the 'Crossroads' area.

Bennigans - Chevys - Tony Romas - Chillis - TGI's, ate at all of them 14th - 28th September and had no complaints whatsoever.

Personal favourites were Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Pebbles and Macaroni Grill.

Tried the Bahama Breeze next to the Golden Corral for the 1st time, (we usually go to the location on I-Drive) - and this is now our No.1 Favourite.

There are many more expensive options out there, but with 5 adults and 2 children in the group all the above offer good food at a decent price.

For breakfast buffet you can't beat GC - and for sit down you can't go far wrong at Perkins. Just look for the HUGE U.S. Flag!!

TGIFriday's is one of the all-time great casual family dining restaurant chains in the US! Your family should have a great time their for your daughter's birthday party...she'll probably be 'serenaded' by the staff come dessert time!

The food is identical to other TGIFriday's in the US, (very strict specs as to how each menu item is prepared - so I don't understand the comments on how there can seemingly be 'good'
Fridays and 'bad' Fridays).

Favorites menu items include the following:
* Asian pot stickers appetizer
* Cajun-fried chicken salad (completely addictive!)
* a special Jack Daniels (as in whiskey!) sauce for ribs, steaks, and certain seafood dishes.

Enjoy!

metalguru - you are indeed allowed to have your opinion that's what this board is all about :)

I personally re-read everything I type here on these boards because sometimes other people may read what I have written differently to how I meant to express myself and that can cause upset to the people that read my posts and subsequently this upsets me and that IS something I care about if I want to continue to enjoy these boards.

Another vote for TGI Fridays.

We went to the TGI Fridays on 192/Formosa Shopping Centre last November. We had an excellent waiter who looked after us (and especially the kids). Our children - 8, 5 and 2 - loved every minute of it and we all had a great meal.

We had our dessert at Dairy Queen nearby - we were talking to the waiter about ice creams for the kids and he said they were much better there.

Why does anyone get upset anyway? It's only an opinion and everyone has a different one about everything. I don't care if I like
a restaurant/ride/hotel/shop and someone else doesn't. Anyone can have a bad experience eg. food/service/dirty room/whatever - it doesn't mean the other person with a different opinion is right or wrong! Too many people take umbrage about other peoples opinions that don't match their own - be cool, as far as I am concerned the only opinion that counts is my own!

As for TGIF we've been once a few years ago to the 192 location and had a nice meal - no complaints. As for Perkins we had that bad experience I mentioned above and would never set foot in the place again.

Best wishes

FloridaLol

Eaten at TGI Crossroads and on 192, both excellent service and food, but there again we were staying at the All Star sports where having a meal was like been in a school Cafeteria.

Floridalol,

I dont think Fantasia Sam was suggesting that anyone would find MetalGuru's opinion upsetting - as you rightly say, each to their own, if someone doesnt agree with you, nothing you can do about it.

What I think Sam was really referring to was the somewhat forthright manner of Guru's reply. It doesn't bother me one bit, but at a quick glance, it's tone could come over as being perhaps a little bit strident.

Because you are writing your replies/views here, you dont get the opportunity to show your intended tone/manner thru your inflection or expression as you would in a conversation. That can very easily lead to misunderstandings which in turn can lead to others feeling that the writer is being rude, insulting, aggressive, etc, when that is far from the intention.

Thats one reason emoticons are used on forums like this- to give a way of trying to show the tone of a reply/statement.

Sam was just trying to ensure that we keep these boards friendly and that we dont get the sort of unpleasantness that afflicts so many chat rooms because of this kind of misunderstanding.

Anyway, that's my opinion... and if you dont like it, well you can kiss my... ;) ;)

Well all I can say is if i wrote something really bad looks like I would be excommunicated!!!!!!!

The "And we don't care" bit was a slight pun on an old punk track that I thought Beejay would have got, but what the hell, I still think Tgi's are crap and thats my opinion nothing more nothing less.

People lighten up it's a message board for god's sake.

22 days and I will be tasting that good ole Prime Rib.
And having humongus Vodka and 7's.
