Is there enough info to start a thread?

I saw some news reports that employees that will be working for quarantined NFL football players are terrified for their lives as it seems impossible to really control the virus. Some players will probably sneak out to see a loved one or just get some nooky. Then bring the virus back to the others. Several weeks is a looong time to ask people to quarantine. I don't think people these days have enough discipline to do it. Especially after the country/world already did that for 3 months.

Tin foil hats still work really well. You have to get real aluminum foil of a certain thickness though. The dollar store aluminum foil is too thin. Then the trick is to wear the masks AND the hats at the same time.

Is Len still scheduled to judge? Due to his age, he would definitely be in the high risk category. And he has a grand child that he simply adores that he wants to be around for. I'd think he'd take a pass on judging till this is virus is over.

People should go read what actually happens to you when you go on a ventilator.

You'd see everyone in America in masks, just so they or their loved ones don't have to endure that.

Yes. The CT Governor was on GMA last week. He was asked what message he'd like to convey to the rest of the country who are going through what CT, NY & NJ went through, having been extremely hard hit months earlier. He said, he had been talking to the other governors on the travel advisory list and asked them what's been going on. At first they said it was more testing.

He said no, your hospitalizations are up. They finally said that probably in CT, everybody knows somebody that not just lost a job, but that they know somebody that lost their life. And that's maybe not true in some of those other states. So, we in CT, NJ, & NY, are likely to take it much more seriously here. He hopes that translates around to the rest of the country, that this is more deadly than people realize.

How sad it is that people refuse to take this seriously until they see it with their own eyes. People i know here in Texas have yet to be touched by it personally, so they just galavant all over like no big deal.

I posted this on other threads. The longer one is on a ventilator due to Coronavirus, the less likely one will survive. So, when there is someone who's been on a ventilator for 30+ days, usually the hospital staff gives the person a huge send off. They line up, having a parade for that person as they leave.

The local, NYC news posted about how one man here was on a ventilator close to 60 days and recovered. Then he was sent his medical bill for the hospital stay and all the various treatments he had needed. The bill was over $1.1 million dollars. Luckily, his medical insurance will cover the majority of those charges.

But, the medical insurance may be cut off in Oct. for about 20 million Americans, due to it going for a ruling in the U.S. Supreme Court for their decision on the Affordable Care Act. Try having Coronavirus and no insurance to cover medical costs.

Can I interject to day that as serious as this virus is, if you feel like something is off with you medically PLEASE seek help instead of putting it off! I'm in Texas - my brother has had stomach pains for almost a week but wouldn't go to the doctor or hospital for fear of being infected. He is in surgery right now having dead colon removed and may not make it. PLEASE don't be so afraid that you ignore warning signs!

I hope you're brother is doing ok. I agree with you. I had a hole in a tooth and I was scared to go to the dentist. I just went to the dentist this past Friday. Thankfully it was a cavity. The dentist said if I waited if would have turned into a root canal. It's definitely worth going to the doctor or dentist before things get worse but I do understand the fear about going.

Went to a large park yesterday and it was packed. The pavilion had a large birthday party with no distancing and few masks, and there were about 100 teens taking turns playing volleyball. My friends who work at hospitals are not happy. This is going to be rough.

I don’t know why we are blaming him for people not wearing masks or social distancing. At some point we have to take personal responsibility and quit blaming the powers that be.

Once wearing masks were politicized at the outset of the CDC recommending them, it was downhill from that point on. Sides were taken against wearing them, certainly not based on medical nor scientific merits. A number of governors and/or local mayors etc., following CDC recommendations, correctly mandated masks from the get go. For the most part, those states/cities have fared well. The governor here in Illinois mandated them from the start and Illinois is coming along pretty darn well now as a result of that, along with other early-on restrictions. Those restrictions, while certainly impacting people's personal freedoms, have resulted in a relatively orderly and successful reopening (so far). Most here now realize the validity of those early on actions.

So the governor put the brakes on continued reopening today. Does that really amount to much? I only heard that elective surgeries have to be postponed in certain areas.

I got an email on Thursday from my internist and they are still doing elective procedures like colonoscopies. Their offices are located all over the Metroplex.

I had my teeth cleaned Tuesday. My dentist is taking as many precautions as he can. I felt fairly safe there but you never know.

Yes, it is. Hospitals have space, needed staff, etc. The system is under control.
