I think people forget we shut down to slow the spread, not prevent it, which at that point was impossible to do. Now they expect it to be completely gone before we can work, gather or take off our masks.

There is going to be a hefty price tag to this lock down and business restrictions in the way of economic disaster that will hit everyone but the 1%
The choices we had were

1. Open as much as we can, but wear a mask and social distance
2. Lockdown
3. Go back to normal

People should have chosen door #1, instead too many people chose door #3, so we're all going to end up with door #2.

But yes, we will be wearing masks until this is good, and truly over.

What in the world does not enforcing the mask policy have to do with racism?

It was mostly a comment on the way Colleyville seems to view themselves. Their mayor has been dismissive of state orders on keeping his residents safe. But, it doesn’t help that a member of their city council has posed with the Confederate battle flag and posted it on her public Facebook page.

127,000 deaths and counting. Hefty price tag for ineptitude.

Hefty if you could trust the numbers. They are being very liberal when applying the cause of death as covid19, which you have people who were in heart failure, cancer, in their 90's with multiple co-morbidities. Birx even said multiple times if someone dies of heart failure but is tested for covid that cause of death of covid is applied, even though they would have died anyway of covid. Don't get me started on the fact the test only tests a protein that MIGHT be found if a patient has covid. It could be found if they have other viruses or bacteria as well. Aaaaaand.... 40% of deaths were in nursing homes (no one ever dies in nursing homes, I know). If you can't trust the numbers (and you cannot) all bets are off.

Lmao. I was just down the shore and NO ONE had on a mask. Not even those ordering food at the local restaurant. I've been down there several times so far this summer and it is like the real normal. Not the "new normal".

NJ here- we won’t even be at indoor dining at 25% until July 2. Right now outside dining only. We wear masks at all indoor places. Our numbers are going down so I’m not complaining!

No masks down the shore. Was just there. No social distancing on beaches, either.

Good grief, not this nonsense again. Ugh.

Every country faced a risk to their economy when locking down.

What was never acknowledged, was that not locking would cost the economy more in the long run.
This is an all too common response we see when politicians or CEO's are in jobs for 2-3 years. Their ego will not let them risk their legacy by doing what is best in the longer term.

Jacinda Ardern is a true great leader.

My FB feed is full of friends and family going to the mall, out to eat, tubing the river in packs, backyard parties, bars, sports practice, you name it. No one has been wearing masks up until this week when Austin's mayor mandated them for businesses.
Not to be rude to you, but THAT'S WHY your state's numbers are blowing up! Why can't your friends see this?

Even if you don't have any cause of death, the total numbers of Americans who have died is hugely over the statistical average. Any individual death may not be Covid in this case, but overall, it is damning. That's if you don't want to believe the "reported" Covid numbers.

It is important to realize that Covid kills only 50% of the time by pulmonary failure. The other 50% is kidney failure, heart attacks, strokes, and then a grab bag of infections and complications due to underlying tissue necrosis. Turns out this coronavirus (unlike any other reported coronavirus strain) can invade blood vessels, damaging them and impeding blood flow to vital organs. So deaths listed as heart attack, etc, can very well still be Covid.

And the test is a PCR test, looking for specific DNA. Specific to novel coronavirus-19. Can't get much more specific than that. The "it could be any virus or bacteria" is a fake news talking point.

Well, you can’t blame us for the current sand. That’s coming from the Sahara!

Not blaming you for that. Lived in Lubbock for 20 years. Longest I’ve lived in any place because my dad was in the Air Force. Came here for law school and stayed. Now as far as Saharan sand storms, I also live in Sicily for several years. I dealt with African sand storms approximately ten times a year. No blame there. I’m talking about the normal 10-20 times a year wind blows the dust from NM into TX every year. In fact at least in Sicily we could predict the times it would happen; with the NM wind there is no “normal” time frame. I was shopping home builders one day and it was cold and we got a NM windstorm preceded by some rain and I watched as it snowed mud. Fun times.

During Spring Break last year, we were driving back home from Santa Fe. We started out driving through a snowstorm that toppled 3 18 wheelers and then drove into a haboob that was truly scary. It knocked out the power in Roswell, where we had planned to stop. The only way we could tell where the road was was to follow the lights of the car in front of us. If we had been able to find a safe place to stop we would have. The highway was empty on either side though, except for the pump jacks and windmills. When we got home, I spent a lot of time vacuuming red dust out of my car even though we didn't open the doors until we stopped somewhere past the storm.

I get what the tweet was saying but didn’t get why the racist tag was thrown in there. I guess that’s just the new derogatory term people throw around when they can’t think of anything better to use.
