Lmao. I was just down the shore and NO ONE had on a mask. Not even those ordering food at the local restaurant. I've been down there several times so far this summer and it is like the real normal. Not the "new normal".

I don’t know why we are blaming him for people not wearing masks or social distancing. At some point we have to take personal responsibility and quit blaming the powers that be.

California is also seeing a huge spike in cases where the opening has been much slower. Why is that not getting any scrutiny/ media coverage?

Masks are to protect the transmission to others, not to protect ourselves. A large portion of this country can't see the value in helping others if it's a mild inconvenience so it requires government mandates.

Yes, freedom and all of that is great but it shouldn't come at the expense of others. Government's primary function is to protect the country and its citizens IMO and this just isn't happening.

Yes, CA has its own issues but they’re not as troubling as TX right now. I do have issues with how Newsom opened things up recently.

But, you’re missing the point of my post. Of ALL the things he could have said he would have done differently, he chose to mention that he would have opened the bars slower. Forget all the other more effective things and focus on the bars.

Also, if I’m reading correctly, this thread’s heading is “Texas.” If you want to talk about CA, specifically, you’re more than welcome to start a new thread.

They also had huge protests that lasted over a week.

POTUS had wanted each governor to handle their own state. That is why each state is doing something different. Comedian, Chris Rock said this is like 50 different countries now instead of one unified one.

That's exactly what is happening. Although, in the Northeast we have banded together with NJ, NY and CT. And at times PA and RI are in the mix. The governors coordinate and make rules together which is a good idea as the rules are necessary, and it takes the heat off of any one governor. But yes, we are mostly 50 states or maybe 10 regions....all doing our own thing because we have no leadership above them. And just like any other "natural disaster".....the governors are front and center, the house and senate kind of disappears....but normally we have a lot of FaceTime from the White House. But the White House has moved on.......so I guess it's up to the governors, but really it's up to individuals to do their best.

I've already heard a bunch of conspiracy theories about 5G. I've gone back to watching X-Files since it seems more realistic than what I'm seeing in real life. It's as of the Lone Gunmen have mass produced.

I saw some news reports that employees that will be working for quarantined NFL football players are terrified for their lives as it seems impossible to really control the virus. Some players will probably sneak out to see a loved one or just get some nooky. Then bring the virus back to the others. Several weeks is a looong time to ask people to quarantine. I don't think people these days have enough discipline to do it. Especially after the country/world already did that for 3 months.
