Test Your "Ancient" Knowledge of the Podcast

Who is "Anthony"?

Kevin use to say "hi" to him during the podcasts. From what I can remember, Anthony wrote in saying that he felt alone in his passion for Disney and other kids made fun of him. Kevin wanted him to know there were others that felt the same way.

That's how I remember it too :thumbsup2

This is a long explanation based on Kevin's prior posts and from the June 12, 2007, podcast, where Kevin read an email, not from Anthony, but from Anthony's Mom. At the time, Anthony was 12. He wanted to grow up to be an imagineer and he took notes on each podcast show. Kevin read the email because he wanted to let Anthony know there is a whole room of folks who are just like him.

New listeners would ask why Kevin said Hello Anthony during the podcast. In Kevin's words

Anthony's Mom wrote to us and told us how he was a bit down. Anthony loves Disney and is at a young age in life where his peer group is being less than supportive or understanding....or even nice.

Let's face it....kids can be brutal when you dont fit the streotype and have thoughts and ideas that dont 100% mesh with theirs....in other words being a bit different in ANY way.

She explained that Anthony was happy to hear that people could have jobs where they thought and talked about Disney and that some day Anthony hoped to become an Imagineer.

We read the email during an email show...and while I dont remember the date...it might be far enough back that it was still part of the regular show.

Anthony's story touched all of us....but it really struck home with me. I've spent alot of my life being "a bit different" and I have had to explain, if not defend my love of Disney and after reading these boards and talking to people...it seems that many of us have to explain why we wanted to go to WDW again and again, We have had to defend our decision with friends, family, co-workers etc...

I realized that Anthony represented alot of us and thought that he should become part of every show. While I know that he still listens and is doing quite well......he has come to represent a much larger group of people....the
Disney lovers who deal with people not lucky enough to get the Disney gene.

So ...for each and every one of you out there......each week I say HI ANTHONY!!!!

A later post asked why Kevin stopped saying Hello Anthony. Here is Kevin's response:

When we started the podcast, I thought Anthony and I were unique.

I have since found out that we are not the only Disney geeks around.

We are all Anthony.

Oh my gosh - how precious! Thanx for sharing that, Jack! Ad it makes me like and respect Kevin even more!

Also - I, for one, am proud to "be Anthony". :)

We need a new question.

Pete has made it clear he does not like Cirque du Soleil. Pete, shall we say, has a talent for the "dramatically descriptive" and in one early podcast, described why he does not like Cirque du Soleil performances.

What did he say?

I believe he's said 2 different things...

Once Pete and John were in Las Vegas and Pete was having a really good game of blackjack on one of the tables. John had made reservations for a Cirque show and pulled Pete away from the table... Pete has hated the show ever since!

Also, Pete has referred to the show as "scary, French clowns." lol

I'd forgotten about the first reason, and, for the second, Pete was a lot less, shall we say, diplomatic but you are on the right track.

Pete has said two things (so far) about Cirque du Soleil:

"pretentious French people dancing around in tights" on the May 2007 Universal Podcast.

"snooty French people" on the June 19 2007 podcast.

Who is this?

Can I have an H? Should I solve the puzzle? :scratchin
I guess I'll take my time since I'm also NOT on the Oasis of the Seas. ;)
I'll spin again.

The photo is of "Harold" Bob's "alter-ego" who did make appearances on Bob's "World of Mickey" show with Matt (before the DIS) (I didn't know this, to be honest).

Harold was so beloved that John suggested there be a video podcast called "Let's See if Harold Survives......."

OK - time for the ultra-arcane. Who are "mani and pedi"?

I kind of thought this might be too esoteric but I thought it was a nice way to illustrate John's quick wit and Kevin's sense of humor.

On the June 19, 2007, podcast, the group was talking about things to do and Julie suggested a "mani and a pedi" a term John and Kevin took delight in questioning.

John asked if mani and pedi were two new "garbage characters" at WDW leading Kevin to say that they were "filler characters," like Chip and Dale.

So, unless I missed one, this is the first to "filler characters" on the podcast.

Here's a new one.

Anyone who has listened to (or watched) the Orlando DIS Unplugged podcast knows that while Pete says, “coffee is an important part of my life,” he intensely dislikes Starbucks coffee. On the November 14, 2012, podcast, Pete urged listeners to support an online petition against replacing the Main Street Bakery with a Starbucks, saying, “I’ll complain ’til the cows come home about crappy Disney coffee and the Main Street Bakery is home of crappy Disney coffee. But I’ll take that crappy Disney coffee at the Main Street Bakery any day over a cup of swill from Starbucks.” - See more at: http://blog.wdwinfo.com/2013/04/01/lawsuit-seeks-to-ban-starbucks-in-the-magic-kingdom

But Pete likes at least one particular drink Starbucks serves. What is it?

I learned about Harold when they discussed it on the Bob Memorial show 2013. I never did get to watch the World of Mickey show. Last time I tried the link it had an error and wouldn't play.
As far as Mani and Pedi the B list characters, that is funny. Kevin and John always crack me up. I would've never remembered that answer though.

Given that Pete has said the Nescafe' coffee Disney used to serve was "freeze dried excrement", I took particular offense to Starbucks "swill" being said to be worse. But it's only coffee and I had my revenge.

On the June 19, 2007 email podcast pete said he likes Starbucks caramel apple cider.

Now here is a trick multiple choice question.

On Kathy Werling's first podcast appearance, did she talk about:

a) Lights of Winter
b) Journey into the Imagination (a.k.a. Figment)
c) The Simpson's Ride
d) The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
e) Photography techniques

I would've never remembered what drink Pete did like at Starbucks. I do recall him calling Nescafe "Nes-CRAP-ayy" though. :rotfl2:

I remember this because she wasn't officially on the podcast yet. She and some other Dreams Unlimited agents were giving their opinion about
(answer follows in white) c) The Simpson's Ride
