Same here. We usually bake the pies (we usually only make pumpkin pie) and get the base for the stuffing (sausage, onion, celery, etc.) cooked up the night before, so the morning goes pretty smoothly.

don't be afraid of turkeys soooo easy to make

my DH (who doesn't cook other than a steak on the grill every now & again) was able to cook a turkey breast all by his lonesome. I was under drs order to bed rest & we had run out of all the prepared meals I had stored away in the freezer. He still speaks fondly of it.

i cook my big bird on Wednesday, slice it down on Thursday while the 2 additional turkey breasts cook. Our extended family likes to eat, mostly meat & potatoes...have I mentioned my SIL still hasn't called us back to let us know how many are coming. believe it's day 3 or 4? I always make a ham because one of the nephews doesn't "like" turkey. Not this year, since they didn't get back to me in a timely manner as to whether he's showing up or going to the girlfriends (as he did last year); he's on his own.


I make the pumpkin pies (6) on tuesday. I'm cheating & heating up a Sara Lee frozen fruit pie this year (looked good -strawberries, blueberries, etc.). Will make the ambrosia on Thanksgiving so it doesn't get watery.

I cook turkeys all year long, usually once a month...something to be said for cooking once & eating for 3 days.

we had our 1st teeny dusting of the white stuff this amdogs took one look @ it on the deck & wanted to skip the am run in the yard - not! has been mid 60's here all week ; finally the bottom dropped out...sorta like our investments in the stockmarket it's a cycle, like the weather

TGIF!!!

It is actually warmer than yesterday here...it is 42 right now and suppose to get into the 60's today. I think they are calling for our first snow around next wed.

I need to get cleaning myself. We have a lady coming to finish a study on Aubrey. She has been apart of this study since she was 6 months old. They come to see her development and asks tons of questions. I think she told me it will take 2 1/2 hours. If I remember right she was 1 of 500 kids in Nebraska picked to do this study.

Afternoon all...we had to head to the dentist first thing this a.m., so I'm just checking in....all this turkey & pie talk is making me hungry

It is around 45 here today, sunny but extremely windy...which makes it feel colder.

Pam, I remember you talking about that test that Aubrey participates in, seems like she was just there for that...time flies

DH took truck to adjuster and we are starting at $500 worth of damage, but more to be added I think, so I figure a good $900. It could have been a lot worse though, and we have no deductible, so no out of pocket expense.

I agree KS, we need to get Pam cooking turkey's....I always say that making the dinner isn't hard, it is time consuming and it is an art to have everything ready to put on the table all at one time.

Yeah, poo-poo on the kid that doesn't eat turkey, let him eat a bologna sandwich.......

What is eveyone doing this weekend?

I think we are going to go to Lincoln tomorrow so dave and the boys can go to the husker basketball game and Aubrey and I will go and do some shopping. I need a new hair dryer...my blew up this morning

I think on sunday we will stop at my aunt's for a little bit and then head to the basketball games.

After turkey day I will start drawing the names for the secret santa.

What is eveyone doing this weekend?

Saturday morning, Ryan has swimming and then we have to drive across town (about an hour east of us) for a tae kwon do tournament Cameron's in. He's scheduled to compete around 11:30am, but they always seem to run late, so who knows what time we'll be there until.

Saturday night, we're dropping the boys off at a friend's and going out to dinner with MIL and BIL for BIL's birthday.

Sunday, we have a holiday sale at Cam's tae kwon do school (we're buying him a personalized uniform, with his name stiched onto the back, for Christmas). And then at 2:30, Cam has a basketball game.

I think we are heading for turkey shopping tonight after work. DH has to pick me up cause he dropped me off after the dentist, so we have a gc to Bonefish Grill, if not swamped when we get there, we will give it a try, then hit grocery store.

I really want to stay home this weekend and partially veg, and partially do some stuff around the house. I've been running every weekend for the last month and I'm sick of it....need a stay at home weekend.

I can't believe we are discussing santa again...seems like only yesterday

I'm watching the clouds roll by this afternoon, and they are moving so fast, it really is pretty...trees haven't lost all their leaves yet, it has been a strange fall with it staying warm as long as it did, and then no rain.

mic - so wrapped up in my own 'lil world i must of missed you comment on your truck ; hope it wasn't an accident! Did you watch ER, i don't know what to say...someone told me it was the last season...they've got some loose ends to tie up if so. Did they ever mention Ray again?

everyone's a busy bee this weekend! I finally called butthead SIL, her kids cannot commit yet ; she & BIL are coming; guess i'll go with a buffet. Easier for me, pull out the china & keep the stemware boxed .

my turkey is stil a frozen block, think i'll soak it in the sink tomorrow for awhile.

Aubrey has a new book and is $30 richer! That is what she gets for doing the study. It went well and the lady said (off the record) that she had one of the better studies. She was impressed by how good aubrey did in the motor skills. She had to do a standing long jump, walk in a straight line backwards on a piece of tape, stand on one foot, and hop on one foot. Then Noah came up and showed off...he is a jumper!! At boyscout camp this last summer he did 6'8" in the standing long jump. I think that is the record there.


I am sooo glad I finally get to sleep in tomorrow. Have a good weekend everyone!!!

rough weekend here, so I'm dropping in to say 'hi'....my Mom was admitted to the hospital last evening and tomorrow has some procedural tests scheduled...she sounds good on the phone, but of course is worried, as is me, so I'm hoping the problem can be fixed without surgery, as I told her, we go one step at a time, one day at a time...she is 80 years old, so I know at anytime something can happen...it is always something my friends
