Anyone ever done this? How is it for rain? I've never been to Florida in Jan. before, how wet is it? I'll be there Jan. 18-26.Thanks! :goodvibes

It was lovely; bright clear skies, it was perfect. Freak cold fronts do happen. I told our neighbors who went this past February they'd be wearing their shorts and temps would be high 70's low 80's if not a little higher, the only thing that would change that would be the freak cold front. Yep, remember it dipped to crazy lows last Feb? It's a great time to go, though.

I think you will get more cold than wet. At night the range can be anywhere from 30's to 50's. During the day, it will be in the 70's and low 80's. Bring a warm sleeping bag and you'll be fine.

And since you are in Ft. Wilderness with plenty of electricity, bring an electric blanket, and outdoor rated power strip, and a 40 ft outdoor extension cord and you will be toasty warm :-)

I tent camp every December, and some years it has been warm, and some years it has been really cold, but I've been nice and warm in my bed in my tent at Ft. Wilderness.

We were there this past January about the same dates. We didn't camp, but I can tell you about the weather -- it can do anything it wants in Florida in January. When we arrived it was 70s and pleasant, there were even people swimming in the pool at POP that night. The next day the temps never cracked 60 and it was overcast all day, didn't rain though. For the remainder of our week, the daytime temps were mid 60s-mid 70s and pleasant. Night's were cooler, but nothing a long sleeve shirt or a pair of jeans couldn't take care of. The day we left was near 80 and somewhat humid. No rain to speak of, but like I said, it can and does do anything!

I've been there in early January to run the Marathon and it was 39 degrees at the start (6 a.m.). If you can manage an electric blanket you should be fine. I had some electric mattress warmers on my pop-up this March in Memphis in March (like an electric blanket except it is on the mattress and you lay on top of that) which worked fine. I'd say with electricity, you can conquer just about anything :rotfl2:
