Just back from a 5 day trip to Universal with the wife and 10 year old son. Disney really needs to steal the refillable cup idea from Universal. $20 for the initial purchase, $13 a day to reactivate and you could get a fill every 10 minutes. With the Coke Freestyle machines in many places in the parks and Citywalk, the three of us were properly hydrated without spending an arm and a leg. I know they have it for the resorts, but give me something similar for the parks. It's still a profit center as even filling 15 times a day isn't more than $2 in actual supply cost. Very little plastic waste, and no straws needed.

They actually GIVE you one cup, or you use the same one? Not sure I want to be carrying around a cup all day in amusement park. If it is fact the same cup being refilled that is pretty unsanitary. On their cruise ships Disney requires a NEW clean cup.

Universal and Disney don’t require purchase of such packages to get water at its Freestyle machines… it’s good to have a break from the s***r in the other Coke products…

You use the same cup. Below is the same one that I got. I cleaned it out at the end of each day and had no issues.

Agreed, out of the probably 40 fills I used my cup for this week, only one had sugar in it. Everything else was sugar free as I'm a diabetic. Nice to have choices other than diet coke and coke zero. I was able to get root beer, cream soda, pibb, and Sprite.

On cruises they are trying to fight outbreaks. Local amusement parks do the same as Universal. Disney water parks used to offer these. I say used to as I’m not certain if they still do.

Cleaning it daily is not the issue. It would need to be cleaned between each fill up.

They used to have them at the water parks, but discontinued it. Refillable cups have been a common thing at other parks since at least the 90s (I have a ton of souvenirs to prove it 😄 ), so if Disney wanted to they already would.

Yeah they aren't going to do it at Disney. It would cost money to set up, and then they would probably lose money (vs what they currently sell in fountain drinks, souvenir cups, bottled beverages, and bottled water) by having the offering. It's a lose lose for them

Why? What is the issue? Nothing "germy" is really touching the machine.
Well, that question might be better directed to Disney Cruise Line. But, if you are drinking out of the cup without a straw, and using a soda dispenser where there is a trigger hanging down under the spigot, the portion of your cup where you put your mouth, is the portion touching the trigger on the fountain. So there is a risk of it being germy.

But in general people with a reuseable tumbler like what was posted in this thread are drinking from a straw or spout and that is taken off to be filled.

The Universal machines don't have a trigger. You put the cup on a spot and the stuff flows out from above. I use them for cold water in my plain old water bottle, no pricy cup needed.

Love the handle, thanks for the recommendation!

Good point. I forgot about theirs as I Usually skip their packages and buy a la carte.
We usually get the refreshment package that comes with a cup. I don't use it... 1) There's no easy way to carry it (not even a handle to put a carabiner on if you want to clip it to something and 2) It's really only necessary for the Coke Freestyle machines that are only in certain locations. I can get to a bar easier to get a drink.
