Tell me your thoughts about "The Secret"

Hey guys- I think I keep missing this thread.

I'm "needing" a refresher, though. :)

I am still working on "The 7 Habits of Highly Successful Families" and my DH and I are going to start drafting a family mission statement (and I am going to work on one of my own).

And now I am going to look up the widget thingy that you guys are talking about. ;)

I'm about part way through that book, I have no time to read lately (and yes, I should still be cleaning, hee hee)
I tried to do the widget thing but it wouldn't work for me.

One of the things I'm trying to do is conquer my fears and not let them rule me which of course only brings more, well last night I had to drive back my cousin to a hotel in Downtown Boston which can be awful and it was dark and raining well with the help of my mom I did it! I couldn't believe it and I didn't even swear at anyone.

Boy did I need to see this this morning, tough night lots of worry but I know today will be a bountiful beautiful day.

Sometimes, when you're feeling your lowest, the real you is summoned.

And you understand, maybe for the first time ever, how grand you are, because you discover that vulnerable doesn't mean powerless, scared doesn't mean lacking in beauty, and uncertainty doesn't mean that you're lost.

These realizations alone will set you on a journey that will take you far beyond what you used to think of as extraordinary.

There is always a bright side.

hmmmmmm

have a glorious Wednesday!

Hello, Friends!

I am reading Ernest Holmes' The Science of Mind. I just finished a 10 week class on the Foundations of SOM. We read various chapters in the book, but not the whole thing. I am reading up on the chapters that we skipped in class. It is hard reading, but so much information is there.

He uses planting a seed to illustrate the LOA. You plant your seed (thought) into the soil (Law). You tend to your seed by watering and fertilizing (affirmations). You hoe away the weeds (negative thoughts). In time the seed will grow into a plant (manifestation.)

There are probably some unwanted things that we have grown in our garden. We need to weed them out and replant new seeds. (Get rid of the negative and focus on the positive.)

Jody the book sounds interesting, Next time I'm at barnes and noble I'm going to have to check it out.

That's a very interesting analogy! I'm going to check that book out. Thanks!

I have to admit that SOM is a very heavy book (physically and mentally). I wouldn't have been able to get thru much if I wasn't taking the class. I did order 365 Science of Mind, which gives you a daily dose from the SOM textbook. It is on Amazon if you want to check it out. You can even "Look Inside" and check out some of the pages.

I already have Sarah Ban Breathnach's Simple Abundance. I bought it years ago, but I am going to start reading it again in January. I love it! You have to read it every day beginning Jan. 1st as it is filled with daily essays with ideas that build upon one another. This year I am going to use the Simple Abundance Companion along with it. The Companion is broken down into 12 chapters (one for each month) so as you are reading the daily book you can do the workshop activities in the workbook. I just ordered it from Amazon.

My plan is to read the day's excerpt from 365 SOM in the morning. In the evening, I will read the day's excerpt from SA. Then I will meditate and journal. We will see how it goes.

Echardt Tolle has another book out: Oneness With All Life: Inspirational Selections from A New Earth. I don't know where I will fit that in my life, but I am hoping to read that, then try A New Earth again.

So much to do!! So little time!!

Good Morning!! I get these emails Monday-Friday from one of the teachers of the secret, I love them. Sometimes they are little quotes to make you think and sometimes they just make you laugh...here is this mornings:

Right now, imagine the mansion of your wildest dreams. Happy, shiny, and filled with laughing friends who are carrying you through the giant double doors, across the marble entry hall, marching you up and down the circular stairway on their shoulders. A live band blasting out back by the dock, a water polo match in the pool that was recently spiked with bubble bath, the paparazzi flying in low on helicopters to catch just a glimpse of you. Speed boats, sailboats, and so many jet skis whizzing around that your neighbors think James Bond, Kanye West, or Beyoncé, must have been invited...

And then suddenly, when you think it just couldn't get any better, the doorbell GONGS, and everyone falls silent.

Yes!! Pizza guy!!

You really know how to live -
The Universe

Love it!

I don't know about you guys, but we got ice, freezing rain and snow last night and this morning...trying to keep it positive...

I try to use this time to be grateful for people/things I don't often think about. I send out blessings and thanks to the workers and equipment that clean the roads; for beautiful weather; for outside workers (such as deliverers, postal workers, crossing guards, etc.); for good travel (even if traffic is slow and/or nerve-wracking, I got home safely); for my car (and tires and brakes); for the people who made my car, tires, brakes, etc.

It isn't really making the situation positive, but it does put me in a more positive frame of mind. Blessings to you and all others who have to work, live, drive in these conditions!

I am having a rough time.

Part of it is that I haven't been taking my meds like I should (you know, every day- not once a week when I happen to remember).

Part of it is the stress of the holidays and family.

Part of it is my job (I transferred branches to be closer to home, and I sort of wish I hadn't- my new office is much busier, more hectic, more stressful, and the people there- well, they just aren't the people I worked with before, and I miss those girls).

Part of it is money. Always an underlying stressor for me.

I know this path, and I don't want to be on it, but I'm having a hard time finding ways around my negativity and stress. I'm trying really hard, but could use some help or suggestions or reminders, anything.

beckmark I feel the same way about money, it keeps me up at night I keep trying to be positive but it is hard. I want to talk about it with someone but I keep thinking I will give it more energy. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
