I just saw that Walking with Dinosoars is coming to a nearby city. Has anyone seen this? What age groups is this appropriate for? How Scary? Educational or just entertaining? Would you go again?

Here is the website

We saw the DinosaursLive production in Dec. Yes It was fun, entertaining and ecucational! My DS is 8 yrs old and a 2nd grader(perfect). I would say 5+(for 5 yr olds if they are into dinosaurs and don't lose interest quickly. Next to us was a dad and his daughter who was 3/4 yrs old she buried her head into her dad's shoulder and was disinterested at one point. On the other side of us was 5 yr old boy who was loving the show just like my 8 yr old. They do explain the time difference and evolution of the earth so more geared to elementary school children (a big cool science production)..

We saw Walking with Dinosaurs with our 8 and 10 year olds and we all really enjoyed it. The action took place on the floor in the center of the auditorium so you felt like you were pretty close to the action no matter where you sat. I wouldn't consider it scary. There was a guy playing a Paleontologist who gave a narration during it so I would say it was somewhat educational too.

It is expensive though. We weren't going to go until we got an e-mail from Ticketron (register on their site) with buy 1 get 1 tickets. Or maybe we registered with the auditorium itself, I can't remember. I do recommend it.

OMG My 6yr old loved it!! The dinosaurs are so cool...and big!! You cant miss this one if you have kids...they will be wowd.

It was awesome! We saw it in December in Pittsburgh. DS 5 loved it. I was very surprised that there were no crying kids in the audience, unless I just didn't see/hear them. The Carnegie Museums offered a discount for museum members. I think it was 10% or 15% off

I forgot...before we went I showed our son the Walking with Dinosaur website with the video of how they were built to help diffuse any big scary monster issues. He thought it was so cool that people were under them making them move.

We took our daughters last Easter when they were 5 and 3. They both loved it. It was educational and entertaining. My DH really enjoyed it also. It was informative for all age levels. My 2 were not scared and we were about 10 rows back.

Absolutely awesome. Went last year with DD,Dh, and DS5, ( who gets scared at many things, including loud noises) He was slighltly nervous but then loved it after about 5 minutes. I heard one other kid crying but overall kids seemed to enjoy it. We were only a few rows back. He would love to go back and I would be willing to spend the money to go again. It was fascinating, on all levels- (education, entertaining, and just amazing that they look so real)

My DH & DS just went to walking w/the dinos. My mom gave my son 2 tix for his 8th b-day. They both absolutely loved it & are still talking about it. They went about 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure who liked it more - DH or DS!!!:) DH said to make sure you sit in one of the lower sections so you won't be above all of the lighting/sound equipment.

DS (8 yo) & DD (9 yo) both loved it. DS had seen a short video about the production, so he had some idea of what he would be seeing. He was very insistent that we sit down low enough that the "long neck" (can't remember what they're called) could hang over our seats.:thumbsup2

DebraW76.....I see you are in Alabama...same as me. Howdy neighbor..LOL!

I actually ordered tickets last week for my DH and DS to go in April. I am kind of bummed because the Dino show is the same weekend I am taking DD to see Wicked so we won't get to go to the Dino show with the boys. I will say the reviews I read online prior to ordering the tickets were all really positive. Plus there are several videos of the show out on YouTube. It looks AMAZING.

If you go have fun!!!

We all LOVED it! We went because 6 yr old DD loves Dinos - she had just turned 6. My 9 year old dd threw a fit before we left. She didn't want to go, doesn't like dinos and wanted us to get her a baby sitter so she could stay home. She ended up really liking it!

It does get very loud during some parts and if a younger child doesn't like dinos, they might get bored. DH and I really enjoyed it too.

The animatronics are really neat and the show is educational.

I bought DD a dino t shirt at kohls a few weeks before we went. much cheaper than the shirts at the show :)
