I would love to hear a little more about the Wild Animal Park. I am interested in doing this park, but the website doesn't really explain the way the park functions.
What is the park like?
What are the tours like?
How does the tours operate?
How long does the park take to do?
Do you see lots of animals?
Do you actually get to touch the animals like the website shows?
Do you get to feed the animals?

Anything else you want to share is appreciated, too.
Thanks, Jo

Well - the Animal Kingdom is located in Orlando at WDW - not at the Disneyland resort. You may want to go to the Theme Park Discussion boards for more info - this one is only for the resort in CA. But as a short note - AK is a gorgeous zoo with some great shows and rides. We had a great time there in the fall. Have fun!

Sorry, I'm talking about the Wild Animal Park in San Diego....

I want to add....

Has anybody ever done the Night Moves tour? It's an add on tour that sounds interesting...it's for adults only.

Thanks, Jo

The Wild Animal Park is wonderful. A large section of the park is a huge savannah with free roaming animals. You view the savannah by either going to one of the many observation points or by boarding the monorail for a narrated tour around the perimeter. There are also smaller exhibits featuring gorillas, cheetahs, elephants and monkeys.

I have never taken a tour there so I can't sell you about those, but be prepared for a ton of walking. Bring water it will be deadly hot if you go during the summer.

The wild animal park is interesting, however I took my then 4 year old last year, and she did not enjoy it as much as the zoo. From the train it was hard for her to really see the animals as they roam. We had fun, but if you have little ones, the zoo might be better. :rotfl: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

You can feed the giraffe and lorikeets. You can also walk through the hidden jungle and butterflies may land on you. The tram tour lasts about 50 minutes and you will see many animals in the open area of the WAP.

DD and I did the Roar N Snore 3 years ago. It included night time tours and a sunrise tram tour. The best time to see animals from the tram is first thing in the morning.

If you want a unique experience you can book a Photo Caravan tour where you can take a jeep in the open areas. You will hand feed giraffe and rhino.

Ok - so that just shows you how focused on Disney I am...... there are other places to vacation!?! I had no idea! The wild animal park is amazing!
Sorry!

We were there for the first time in Dec. We purchased the Southern California City Pass which gave us 3 days and Disneyland and DCA, a day at Knotts Berry Farm, a day at the San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park and a day at Seaworl. We purchased it from Costco for $169 I think.

Because it was Dec, the park was decorated with lights and they had activities and sledding at night. It was great.

We did not do the tour out into the Savannah because of the cost. We took the train out to see the animals and saw quite a few. We did the first train, thinking there would be more animals that were active. It is a lot of walking. They also have talks and shows throughout the day which are interesting and give you a closer view of some of the small animals. We watched them feed some of the babies in the nursery. The times for feeding are posted. The lions or tigers (I don't remember which), came right up to the glass and looked at us. It was fun watching them play with each other. All in all, we had a fun time and I felt we saw a lot of animals. I think it is definately worth doing. I think you can get a combo ticket that gives you admission to both the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park with a AAA discount.
