Tell me about Savannah Georgia

Next month we plan on stopping over night in Savannah. We plan on arriving there around 4:00 pm.

Can you recommend a good hotel to stay at? Also, what exit off of I-95 would it be? Is there any sight seeing to do in that short of a time? Is there a shopping area where you can walk around, like a "main street" type area.

What about those beautiful mansions and tree lined streets that I see on tv all the time? Where do I have to go to see those?


We will only have a few hours there, but I would like to walk around and take in some sights.

What a great place to stop! I don't know if you are on a budget, but the Marriott is very nice(so is the Hyatt)! They have great shopping and restaurants along the waterfront as well as music and craft tents on occasions. Also they have horse and carriage rides that take you to some interesting places. For the really adventurous, try one of the many ghost tours offered! We did the horse and carriage ghost tour on our last visit! It was both informative and spooky!

About how much is the Marriott? You mentioned waterfront. Is that close to the Marriott? That might be just what Im looking for.

How much does the carriage ride cost? Where do you get those from it sounds nice.

The Marriott is riverfront. We paid about $175 2 years ago. I would suggest doing the Old Town Tours. You can get off and on and it includes the Savannah Museum. The tour picks up on the street in front of the Marriott and is a great way to see Savannah. Also I would suggest walking the Riverwalk. There are great shops and restaurants.
